Im not sure how long chris Smith played with Smile. I know he rehearsed with them for the Royal albert hall show in 1968, but apparently it wasnt gelling so they told him that they would do the gig without him, ON THE WAY TO THE GIG!
I think he played keys on "Earth" which were amazing and add a lot to the athmosphere but for what I read he was an ocassional keyboard player with local bands not just Smile...
