Hey there! It's a long explanation, but essentially, it depends on what kinds of mums you have and what your climate is like. There are 'hardy mums' that can be bought at a garden center that will have an easier time coming back next year. Then there are potted (annual) mums bought at most grocery stores/box stores. Regardless, it's worth a try and may work for both if your mums have not dried out in their pots at this point. If they have a chance to get planted in the ground with about 6 weeks to establish before the cold comes to your area, they might make it. After planting and the stems begin to turn brown, trim them but leave about 4-5 inches sticking up. Make sure they get sufficient water until spring!

That's funny. Mine is in reverse as I grew up with a Dad that make the packet gravy - I didn't eat it! :) Then I married a southern man that knew how to hunt & then make deer meat and gravy. I slowly came around! 🙃

That's great to know about the dwarf morning glory, Donna. They are so cute. Hate to hear that about the perennials. This southern heat is no joke, I'd love to know which perennials didn't do well?

@@countrystyleusa I lost my lavender and one of my coreopsis, I believe. I had good luck with lavender before when it was planted under my crepe myrtle, but this time it was in a different bed with direct sun. In the future plan to do a better job of documenting ..

By searing (browning) them quickly on each side, I’m bot cooking them all the way through. This quick browning caramelizes the outside to bring out more flavor & the pork chops are way more full of flavor in the end. Not mandatory though. Great question!

Glad to have you, fellow zone 8-er. I like the most beautiful display in the simplest, most stress free way. For the last several years, I have had perennials bulbs planted around the edge of the planter that bloom in the warm months & would plant annuals that only lasted for the other half of the year. That means I’d have the blooming lily during spring/summer (which would go dormant by the time I stuck a mum or two in from October through December). Therefore I’m only without color for about 2 months without maintenance. I’ve never had to cover plants in winter so far! Hope this makes sense.

Thanks for visiting. I try my best to buy the best quality chicken, but the rubbery texture can still occur on the best chicken breasts if they are overcooked. They don't contain as much fat so gotta check temps and remove from heat as soon as they are done. Blessings!
