If she's in a nursing home with disgusting food, she was probably waiting to die. I'm not kidding. I was in a nursing home for physical therapy and the elderly people were miserable. The food was horrific-- it wasn't even fit for a dog. The nurses were obnoxiously loud at late hours of the night. It stunk. You had one shower to use in the hallway and anyone could open the door if you were in there. I was given a shower once in 9 days and had to ask repeatedly for one. The second shower was 7 days. I ordered food delivery every day for a month and it costed me $700. I will never forget that place. All i kept thinking was, "This is how people die when they don't have enough money or family doesn't want to take care of them." When I tell you gross food.... it was absolutely disgusting. Imagine living like that. Now imagine it if you're 110 and have been in the same place for 25 years. One would assume you're just waiting patiently to go be with the Lord.
