Justin Abdelkader | The Dive | SCRJ Lakers - EV Zug | Swiss Playoff Semi-Final Game 2
Former NHL player Justin Abdelkader auditions as the next Neymar during Game 2 of the Swiss semi-final between the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers and his EV Zug, followed by harsh critics from Swiss media, including this one from national TV broadcaster „MySports“. English translation below:
" I just looked it up, Justin Abdelkader played 750 games in the NHL. Zug acquired him because they thought they were missing the key element toughness in their team. He's a player known to be a tough guy, and then he does something like that? For me, it's absolutely ridiculous and it's disrespectful towards our league. He comes over from the States and does something like that in the playoffs. A ridiculous...

    Lemieux saw the game in slow motion. What an amazing talent. I am lucky enough to have grown upnin Pittsburgh and watched him play live dozens of times. Every breakaway he had prompted the crowd to rise in anticipation. He was going to light the lamp. We all knew it. I think the goalies eventually resigned to the fact as well.

    It's a damn shame these two teams never faced each other in the conference finals that year. That would have been a really interesting series to watch. The blackhawks won in 5 games but the kings had injuries, not to mention the kings also won the stanley cup the previous year and following year as well. Too bad the red wings couldn't take out the hawks in the second round despite having a 3-1 series lead. Always wondered how a red wings - kings conference finals would have been

    Something people forget, or maybe just dont realize is that Mario was never at 100%. His back issues wrre always there, sometimes so bad he had to have someone help lift his leg to get on the ice and tie his skates. He jad a surgery on it that resulted in an infection that kept him out fir a long time, and maybe people think it startes then. Anyhow, my point is that everything Mario did, all 1723 points in 921 games, he did at maybe 75-80% health. Imagine what a perfectly healthy Mario could have done. To put that into perspective when you look at the all time NHL point leaders, in other words the very best of the best, you wont find another player with less than 1000 games until Stastny at 40, and he still has like 40 more games than Mario. And you wont find a player with less games than Mario until Mike Bosy at 61. Yzerman is ahead of Mario at 7th with only 32 more points in 600 more games! Sakic is behind Mario in 9th, has 79 less points in 363 more games. Pretty crazy!

      So true. We never saw the best Mario and you. I mean he never played a full season, he only played more than 70 games six times, four of those six times came by the time he was 23. Think about that. My man was winning scoring titles playing 60 games. Mario Fucking ridiculous

    Mario was scary good. I'll never forget his goal in the Stanley Cup finals against the North Stars when he went the length of the ice, split the defense and totally obliterated North Stars goalie Jon Casey. I got to watch his entire career, along with Jagr, and (so far) Crosby, Malkin, Letang and Fleury. I've gotten to see them play in person any number of times, and every one of them dazzles. That said, I am old enough to remember the Original Six, and in my eyes, the NHL GOAT is still Bobby Orr.

    Watching this the day after Spezza announced his retirement. While I hadn't seen this clip before, I knew exactly what he was going to do - Most Leafs fans hated that killer line of Spezza, Heatley and Alfredsson because they burned us so often with this kind of speed and skill. Here's to a legendary career for a man worthy of massive respect.

    Mario just had SOOO many moves, normally he’d bate goalies into bad positions. However, in this shootout. It was The Dominator’s respect for Lemeaux’s bating that caused him to wait too long looking for the bate move.🧐

    There are two players in the top 40 point scorers of all time with less than 1000 games under their belt. Mario at number 8 all time 915 games and 1723 points and Peter Statsny at number 40 with 977 games and 1232 points. Every other player has over 1150 games. Mario with a busted back, shattered wrist, beating cancer, taking 3 years 9 months off, playing the equivalent of 2 games shy of 7 full seasons shits on the rest of these jabronis.

    • @gregorybrowe2
      @gregorybrowe2 4 месяца назад

      And think about this. Jagr is second all-time in scoring with 1921 points, Mario was only 198 points behind him for second all-time, even though he played 818 last games. Think about that for a second.

  • @cluman1
    @cluman1 2 года назад

    Gretzky was great, there's no denying that and I don't want to start the debate so I'm gonna break down this clip. Think about what you're watching. You have 6 of the best offensive forwards of 2002 going up against maybe one of the top 3 goalies to ever play the game. Mario had to shoot the most perfect shot to beat him because that's how great Hasek was. There's maybe 3 guys to have ever play the game that could do what Mario did. Mario didn't even play 1000 games in his career. If he had played a healthy 16 to 17 seasons he would have been either first or second on the all time point list, had a few more Hart trophies and maybe a few more cups. In my opinion, the greatest hockey player to ever play the game. Maybe I do want to start the debate.
