Bay Welding’s focus is the construction of custom aluminum boats for State and Government agencies, commercial fishermen, charter operators, and private users. Founded as a local metal repair and fabrication firm for the commercial fishing fleet, Bay Welding has evolved into one of the Northwest’s premier boat builders.
Each boat is different. Bay Welding in Homer builds custom aluminum vessels, with an emphasis on the custom, yet they all share the same DNA. Prominent, muscular bows and railings guard the cabins like a knight’s helmet. Forward-leaning windshields lend each boat an aggressive look like they are charging. Characteristic swoops cut into the back of the cabin convey elegance and speed.

Most customisable in the world is a big call - although being American you are probably unaware of the rest of the world outside of the US! I'd say most of the Aluminium boat builders here in NZ - as well as those in Australia - would beg to differ!

What a magnificent and beautiful boat. Like other Bay Weld boats there is minimal bow rise. The boat corners like it's on tracks. Nice thing about outboards is minimal maintenance and the amount of space you gain without having Twin Volvo diesels allowing room for a freezer and keeping items, you do not use daily neat and organized. The storage for the Milwaukie pack out storage is pure genius. He has put a lot of thought into accessibility for everything that he has on board. I would have liked to have seen a full tour bow to stern of the whole boat.
I think this beast of a boat would be tits if it had about 600 hp on the tail with outboards.
BayWeld, your thoughts please. I was rebuilding a sailboat in Napa, Ca. A fairly wealthy guy bought an Italian cabin cruiser. Sexy as can be. He had similar drives to what I see on the Megan Elizabeth. After a storm had settled in the SF Bay he went for a cruise. It was late afternoon. He hit some stump or big branches floating in the bay. Totally messed up the outdrives (2) and disabled the boat. Lucky the damn thing didn't sink. all of that for the question. I totally understand why these are better outdrives. But how to avoid trees, branches, or the like taking out your outdrives? I can see that if you hit a log in the water that not only could it wipe out the outdrives but it literally could sink your boat. If the drives were ripped out and water ingressed it could happen in minutes. Hardly enough time for a Mayday and deploy the life raft.

Nice boat but not remotely close to the “best in the world “. A quote so often thrown out by the US. You want class in alloy boats look at Dicky boats from NZ.

I’m here in Western Australia and we really love our aluminium boats. Custom building is a way of life here. I’m building one now and the whole process starts with one question. “What do you want and how much do you want to spend?” Everything else about your boat is yours. Custom building is the only way to go

Not a chance this boat is 350k. Id be willing to guess much closer to 1 Million as well.
lol I’d say it is without question over 1M. my guess is 1.25-1.5M. Once you start going “custom” with these type of features I think it’s hard to comprehend how expensive this would be unless you have owned a high end boat before
