Learn to Sew with me an Intro to My Sewing Studio and Design Career
Mimi, great tutorial! I've been doing this for a long time but never knew about cutting the fabric to decrease the bulk. I usually took a little hammer and with a small cutting board pounded the heavy parts until they were flatter. I have a singer heavy duty also so it just glides through.
Nice skirt!
It’s a beautiful skirt!
Thank you!
1.I love your sewing studio 2. I totally agree with you! We need to keep sewing alive and also to teach the right techniques. 3. In my opinion, word of mouth is the best way to grow a sewing business, because that gives a different type of clients. (I tried both ways) And 4.good luck with your new channel, I am sure you will do well.
Thanks so much!
Hi there Mimmi, I love this skirt , You made it beautifully. I love the way you did this video. I need to warn you, though, I see there is a guy commenting 9n your videos and asking you to do videos on how your sewing machines work and to show how you step on the machine foot to make it work. He used to do it to me on my other channel (theseamstressatthecottage)to the point of harassment. You can do what byou want with it but I thought I needed to warn you. Please be careful.
Thanks so much for letting me know…! Yikes 😳
Subscribed! I love these, I recently got an interest in making my own clothing and this is very inspiring. I can’t wait to see the rest of your content!
So glad to hear, thanks!
Lovely , enjoy the sun 🙂
Thanks for watching!
Glad I found you! Looking forward to learning from you 😊
I love your style!
Thank you!
The fact that you tell ppl how to finish the seams with zigzag stitch makes this a top tier tutorial! ❤
Thank you!
Can you please give the link to the cotton sateen fabric? 💜
Ah! I totally forgot 😆 - just added it to the descriptions.
@@mimishimstudio Thanks!!
looks great!
Thanks!
Threads back and needle down is a great combo for a successful stitch!❤
So true!
Just found your channel and I’m loving it so far!
Thank you! I’m posting as much as I can - while working on projects and being a mom.
😍😍👍
I find it useful to mark both fabrics at the half and quarter points to get better distribution of gathers.
Oh that’s a good idea - I’ll try this next time!
Thank you
Thanks for watching!
I would very much like to see more videos like this one. I liked this video.
Thank you for watching and I’ll provide more content soon!
Thank you! I like how easily you explain things 😊
Thanks for letting me know! I wonder about my clarity as I am making these videos. Feel free to comment with anything that is unclear and I’ll be sure to clarify in the comments.
❤❤
Very informative video and I love your yellow jacket ❤
Thank you! I’m so glad that you found it helpful. Sometimes I wonder if I’m making sense in these videos 😆. I made the jacket myself! The fabric is from my favorite fabric store - Merchant and Mills.
Wow Mimi, this tutorial is timely, I'm putting in a bias neckline tomorrow . I'm definitely gonna give your method a try, thank you!
Wonderful!
do you think the sweater comb you have is better than other tools? i’ve tried a razor and a fabric shaver and i haven’t had much luck and i’m wondering if it’s me or what i’m using haha
Yes - I’ve used shavers and have cut holes in my sweaters. Of course the sweaters never look like new… that depends on the quality of the sweater, yarn, etc. but this comb definitely revives it.
That video was really helpfull. Thank you very much and I would like see more😀
Thanks for watching!
I like those elastic puller througher things 😂
🤣
Thanks for sharing your ideas
I’d like to do the same challenge with my clothes. I love how you put your casual outfits together. Very chic.
You should do it! I have to say, after the rough week, it has gotten easier and more inspiring to get dressed.
I put iron-on patches on the inside of clothing...
Oh! That’s a good idea - that would be better if you don’t have the matching fabric…. Maybe zig zag over the fraying?
Watched several waist-altering videos. Yours was, by far, the easiest to follow.
Thanks for watching!
