Love seeing this in Am so I can play along. I play E like an E7 but mute the C string (since the hard-ass way with your pinky on the C is fingering an E note which you get with the open E string anyway). And then stepping down to the E7 is as simple as pressing my middle finger down.

The way I play it is... C & F for the verse G for the pre chorus and Am, G & F for the chorus. :)
