I've just been playing for a month and have totally nose dived and binge watched... Astarion Spawn only does this because he feels like he can't refuse and that he has to wear that mask. Although, I believe Ascended just did it because it's what Tav wanted to try, in which I believe if he wasn't into it and you are his Consort you should be able to feel his emotions through the bond. I don't know if that's what they were going for when they say Tav looks in his eyes and they're so intense that it makes them (Tav) shiver could go both ways... He disassociates from the twins but not Tav. At least that's my take away because I don't choose the twins. But, yeah, disconnects for this act even if Tav is participating because it's a monetary exchange for pleasure and not necessary to add his emotions into it. He's in performance mode. Believe me I know what it's like to disappear in your head from trauma and I also know what it's like to be with someone who treated it as scratching an itch or filling a need and not an intimate thing involving emotions. It's a gut punch. That's why I applaud Neil for his characterization of him.
