First time fishing at lake Gregory, it was a hot morning. Caught many baby bass, but no sign of trout. Relocated to a cooler / shaded area. Met a fisherman that was kind enough to let me squeeze in a spot. It was roughly 11:30 am at this time when Andrew got two nice trout with Garlic powerbait. Escaping the heat and doing some summer trout 🎣 ⛰ this was around 6pm - sunset. They seem to be most active at this hour. Fish was caught with berkley gulp eggs and Thomas bouyant spoon. Night crawler on a float bobber letting it drift was also the go to rig from what I noticed. Music : www.epidemicsound.com

Was invited to a Trout derby at a private pond. Start time 7:00 am - 11: 00am Bite was going off the first hour than things got really slow until we start throwing mini jigs by sierra slammers. Went Out today to Prado Regional Park. Gate opens at 7:30 am. $10 to park and $12 to fish. They stock every thursday. We fished on a saturday. Powerbait (rainbow,green,salmon) color were getting hit on. White / Pink plastic worm were also getting bites. Short leader seems to be the key here and 2lb izorlines. Music by www.bensound.com

It’s been a while and I don’t remember the specific name, but if you drive down the coast look for a beach with a pier . I fished to the right of it at the outlet/inlet .
I bought a used Lexa 400 HD 5.1:1 at a pawn shop, stripped the braid, and respooled with new 50 lb. braid. Then I mounted it on a punchin Skeet Reese s-curve 7'11" rod. So far I'm impressed with the setup, despite landing only an 8" squirrelfish thus far. Onward and upward!

10ii and 16ii aren’t narrow spool, it’s wider spool than tac12ii. Tac12ii is best size
First time I see anyone catch an Oama on the beach. I live Oahu, went whipping 4 days in a row, caught 3 lizard fish, 2 palm sized papio and 2 lai. SMH. And you catch a 1.5# approx. Omilu in a river mouth 30 ft. wide with an Oama you found on the beach. FML.

Hey I got the same setup the same exact thing, I do not care for other people on charters most of those folks are not as experienced as they might sound. I always think about my happiness before others, so even though you might take a longer time you should still enjoy the fight. I got the same setup I am excited to try it out soon. I have been very tempted to take it surf fishing but for that I might have a 300 Lexa. I really enjoy the Daiwa Lexa 400hd 8.1.1 gear ratio I feel like the presentation is better in my opinion. I have smaller gear ratios for my smaller reels and I use those more often; of rocks, jetty and docks. I bought my reel in San Pedro California at fishing alliance they set me up with 65 pound dark green spectra and I believe that it is my lucky charm I always pull fish out on that reel. I use to have it on a Shimano talavera rod that rod is fun with that reel its a joke pulling out fish because it is so slinky type. anyways thank you for sharing G.
What rod would would you recommend to go on a pisifocun alijoz 300? I’m hoping to use it for yellow tail and yellowfin and blues within the 40 pound range. Do you think a Shimano teramar se would do well?
Shimano teramar are good rods. I haven’t used a piscifun reel before so I don’t know the accurate specs on it to give my opinion. 40lb class tuna and yellowtail is no joke. You might want to ask the Deck hand to dial the drag in for you. In my opinion , correct drag is the key to landing the fish . Good luck and hope you have fun fighting those boys!

Hey is this footage totally in camera with no colour grading in post? And do you mind sharing your in camera IQ settings? Things like shadows, highlights colour etc?
I used the in camera eternal filter setting. No grading was done.

Will definitely do that for future videos. As for this one, I caught them on a slip bobber rig with Berkley gulp eggs, and on a Thomas buoyant spoon. Hope this information is still useful. Thanks for tip. 👍

Are you left handed? Not sure what side to get reel on I’m a righty
I am right handed but it feels more natural for me when i reel with my left. BUT from experience, when you are using bigger conventional reels, you want to crank with your stronger arm ( right for me) especially for yellow tail / tuna. In general i use left hand to reel with all my small bait casters and spinning reels. If you watch my other video for the tuna, youll notice i am using right handed reels because those are for the bigger fish. hope this helps.
@@AnhNguyen6 I’ve done some salmon and halibut trolling with smaller conventionals and right felt good but I never tried left so I was just curious. Makes sense though thanks for the response!

I don't remember the exact number, but most likely almost all the way to the top with room for your leader.

I've got the same setup... but my Lexa is the 7.1 gear ratio and my Phenix is the black diamond PSW808MH. Love that setup and I can cast a country mile with it.
My Lexa 400 is also on a Phenix rod. I have the Black Diamond.
