Something that really is starting to bother me is the culture in our church that we aren’t allowed to read anything that isn’t produced by the church. This narrative published by Catherine Lewis is really clear and rings true. The way the women were treated by some of these early church leaders is despicable. I’m glad the temple penalties were removed. But for 150 years people were swearing to this???! That’s really sad!

Ouch. Michelle, Europeans did come in and take land from Native Americans, but NOT initially. The initial Europeans that emigrated to America (US) traded or bought land from them. Brian Hales, Jacob Hansen and others seem like nice enough guys but the reality is I do not believe they are in search of truth. Their purpose, along with so many others, is to protect a narrative they want to be true. Honestly, it is understandable but sad. Truth is what we should all be in search of. It is not just empowering but it is what God expects of us. How can we have a fulfilling relationship with Christ that is strong in faith without truth. We cannot. If we truly desire to be one in purpose with him we must know him. We will never know him if we are uncomfortable with truth.

The LDS Gospel Topics essays were my final straw. The church is the ultimate fence-sitter. The weak engagement to save their face for being dishonest about everything I was told were "AnTi-MoRmOn" lies was heartbreaking. Jim's correct--it's more of a trust crisis than a faith crisis. My faith was never the issue. The dishonesty is disqualifying. And it's not just doctrinal. My family went without insurance for two years so we could afford to buy a home AND pay tithing. Then, I learn the church was using church funds those same years to bail out their private insurance company to the tune of HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS!! They are corrupt pushers of priestcraft.

How the church can continue to use Brian Hales as a reputable source of church history amazes me! There's got to be something behind that. 🤔

Could be 51 percent. I have heard Brian Hales and other historians use it. Well ya'll are bluffing... There should be no shame or belittling of others who have ideas or opinions that may go against the "norm." You spoke of "flat earthers" and I must confess I am ONE. I have done my due diligence and looked at both sides for many years. Common sense shows me many truths that exist in the natural world we live on. For instance: Water always lays flat in a pool, a pond, a lake, a sea, an ocean, there is no curvature to water! Hence, we humans have called it "water level" for thousands of years. Gravity is a "theory," no one has proven it. The "ball earth" we supposedly live on spins over 1000 miles per hour and "chases" the Sun at a speed of approximately 67,000 miles per hour. This is all a "theory" and has never been proven. We have apparently sent probes out in space and all the pictures they give us are all CGI [computer generated images] no real "photos." When we supposedly went to the “moon” we never got a real “photo” of the earth and NASA admits that the pictures we do have are CGI. I have a friend who has a 17-inch telescope and all the pictures of our planets we have are not what it really looks like, except Saturn, it does have a ring. All the pictures NASA gives us of the planets are again all CGI, no real photos! All the planets in my binoculars and the 17-inch telescope look like twinkling lights in the sky. Have we been lied to? Ask questions and find out for yourself what is true and what is a lie! There are a lot of things that I don’t know about the world we live on, but I do know we are not a spinning ball chasing the sun. The Sun, Moon, and Stars are all above us in the “firmament,” not very far away, moving in their circuits and patterns God created and we are on a flat, stationary plane looking up at them!!
