Mexican Trucker - "Talking Amp" Tracy, CA 3/20/1995
Просмотров 6439 лет назад
During rehearsal for our first tour to Finland, my Fender amp started moaning. SERIOUSLY. Well, it was because our warehouse was next to a gas station that frequented many truckers trying to get some rest in the middle of the night. This is what came out of my stage rig. There were long pauses as we assume there may have been a third trucker we couldn't hear, so some was edited out for brevity....

My 66 arbiter wont actually start to work until the room is below 80 degrees. Above that it barely makes sound. I usually put an ice pack under it and wait for it to reach the sweet spot which I find is around 65 degrees F.
Dude is such a nonchalant awesome player...
The must unassuming guy is the one who unlocks the heavens for us
outstanding tone
This was my second year at Tracy. This is just plain awesome to hear! Thanks James for getting it into a share on RUclips! I remember going to Vallejo that year for a band competition. We had a good day. The jazz band played both of these tunes and Larry really got into the zone on Bahia. He blew everyone away, including the judges. Seems the concert band won third on that day too. I do remember that Larry and Eric both played in that group. Mike was on the drums for sure. Wes and Jenny... Eddie, Michael, we are getting there. I could be wrong since at my age the memory kinda blends things together, but I truly loved working with everyone in the marching band, jazz band, and concert band. Great days they were! I'm good with Maynard Ferguson Renee...
Hey James, can you tell me how Jimi got all those different sounds on All Along the Watchtower?
This was completely unexpected to find again. I love it and I remember both songs, learning how to play them and am quite pleased with how we sounded!
that is the tone. *the* tone.
❤
Awesome info!
The old germanium sounds awesome
Today we are talking about hendrix and fuzzes through a marshall... Thats how you start a lesson
Are you using a dirty or clean amp?
I love Hendrix and can't find tons of video explain how is hendrix doing to doing his magic
thank you! just fixed my pedal placement. makes tons of sense.
I never comment but...This Dude is A Fuzz Wizard!! Knowledge 🤘🎸
I'm looking for These Hendrix Sounds, but can't afford all this Hardware. Whats the easiest way to get it, even If its virtually generated ? Thanks !
And now for people who don't have an expensive amp at their disposal... Put a good overdrive (low gain) behind your Fuzz Face. Sounds killer.
I really like your approach. It gave me a working knowledge how these devices sound in the real world. I wasn't going to watch the whole presentation but got pulled in.
That Paul on the wall looks exactly like my old 74 Standard.
Very informative video! 👍
How is it not absolutely screeching next to you at that volume? I tried diming everything on my plexi and it's unplayable. Using a different speaker than the 4x12 by you?
Sir, you have a real Fuzz Face pedal made by Dallas Arbiter from England, correct?
Playin with soul
Trippy hearing this after all these years.
Maybe you mean this Tightrope from SRV? ruclips.net/video/uu7haLxD2WM/видео.html Try 2min 20sec for where he rolls back the volume after the solo to clean up.
Thank you so much. For the info, for the playing.
What transistors are in the blue Fuzz Face. I’m not sure there is such a thing as too much Fuzz.
Coming back to your channel, I seem to remember there being more videos than there are now? Am I misremembering or have you removed some of your videos? Atb - Luther 😎👍
Everyone should be assigned a Telecaster and Fuzz Face at birth. Just my opinion
stupid peaple no idea what happening in electronics, so degradated
We need a lesson on Uni Vibe ... Trower / Hendrix
Nothing touches the Arbiter…..
Outstanding presentation
James now you have a great setup with the marshalls, fender hey your road ready...jam on..
This is how you should show a vintage fuzz and teach how to use it. Indeed tightrope is 80% Fuzz face (germanium) and a tiny bit of the Roger Mayer Octavia (grey rocket shape), im not sure if SRV had the TS9 ON but the sound in the solo's is the sickest and most brutal I've ever heard, and this guys is completely right you see Stevie rolling down the volume to sing and clean the guitar, when the solo comes he cranks the guitar volume and hell is loose. It's such and Epic performance. By the way with that FF pedal you dont need much more to make stand on the stage it sounds amazing.
James - I just bought the Fuzz Face JHF1 ( new old stock Dunlop circa 2015 model ) It has more mid scoop than I imagined. Fender American Pro 1 Strat at all full , btw i ran it through my Vox AC4T1 and my Orange TH30C both clean and dirty. Is it expected at low volume setting on the pedal ???
I bought a 73 fender stratocaster in the pawn shop for $190 ! A steal deal ! It pays to hunt pawn shoos for all your gear ! Many folks will sell their guitar pedal's, amps, etc. For cheap because they are Hard up for Money$$$$$ don't forget to go to your local pawn real soon ! Mike Edwards Crowley, Louisiana.
That playin though man
Ouh! Great sound man! 👌
That's one hell of a good video James. Thanks for taking the time to do this
I thought he put his pedals in an oven for a split second
Eric Johnson violin fuzz sound is exactly a tube screamer in a fuzz face so.. TS low gain level volume high and the fuzz 12 o’clock fuzz knob.
Tha sound
I had JUST gotten content with my fuzz sound since getting a Hendrix fuzz face and then he hits one note with that Arbiter and I'm back into my G.A.S.
You My Brotha are The Man !!! Awesome Upload...Indispensable Knowledge Here... And Those Licks Dawwgg... Wheewwww !!! ☺☺😎👊💯💯
Masterclass and wonderful playing!
I have the MRX classic 108 mini. It's basically the same circuit as that light blue, silicon Hendrix fuzz face with a buffer button to make it play nice with other pedals or humbuckers...especially wah pedals or anything in front of it. The button also brightens the tone a bit, but for turning down the fuzz quite a bit, it reintroduces the highs, which is good for getting mellower overdrive tones from it. I'll probably eventually buy the the darker blue silicon fuzz face mini. That one will give you the Pink Floyd - Time solo sound. Dunlop owns MXR ,Way Huge Pedals, and the official Fuzz Face branding , so, yeah...
I’ve always avoided the strat and the fuzz thing, but I’m starting to build some confidence on my strat type guitar and my first FF is on the way, thanks for the tips. You have a great touch, and obviously know your sht thx 🙏 🤠✌️
It all sounded good, even at ten. This was a really cool video and solid tips.
