That’s what the inverting contacts are for. Inverting contact on 2 allows coil 1 to stay powered and inverting contact on 1 allows coil 2 to stay powered but both can’t be powered simultaneously.
Your missing specific animation. This set up is used when using vfd. In this case you should have a switch that allows you to set it to auto - off - bypass. The contactor to right hand side would e your bypass.
In case of one failure?
Forward/ Reverse
If one contactor fails it will still be powered by the other contactor .... Forward and reverse is achieved by changing the polarity
