Born To Run
Добавлен 23 ноя 2023
Born to Run Adventure racing is a charity that helps miniature horses in need of a new life. We are passionate about supporting better equine welfare and the biggest issue facing these horses is a lack of movement and exercise. We create events that inspire people to get active with their horses through adventures. No challenge is to big for our smallest horses!
Currently holding the record for only miniature horse in the world to run 100km over 4 day! Sonny

We took our Miniature Horses to an Endurance Race !!
Просмотров 56311 месяцев назад
For the first time ever we took our miniature horses to an endurance race for regular sized horses. We usually run all our own events including the 24hour Challenge and the Great Northern Gallop which is 100km. However our local endurance riding group held an event and created a special class so miniature horses could enter with runners too. It was so cool! If you don't no about we do, we take ...
Miniature Mare's road to Redemption

This is Granny Smith one of the mares we drove all the way to the South Island to rescue. She was obese, lame and having trouble breathing. We don't know if she'd ever been haltered before but hadn't been handled in years. We are so proud of the progress she has made in a year and half since we picked her up.
Loved your video and have subscribed I live in New Zealand will definitely be coming for a visit
Wonderful, thank you
It's wonderful what your doing to help these horses but I have a suggestion should you do another video. The music in the background while you are talking is very distracting and unnecessary. Would be much better if you just talk and leave the music out.
He couldn't have wished for a better mama. It's a bit worrying to know how sensitive horses are. We really need to know what we're doing, as in your case, what we're doing. Clearly you have an aptitude with horses.. It was so awesome to see you deal with him and get him right. Warmed my heart, I love horses and animals dearly. God bless you and all your beloved horses. ❤💪❤
Seems like he really needed to get that testosterone levelled off---it took a long time. Glad he had such a kind and patient trainer and care-giver.

Ernie!!!
Fun and happy activities = positive therapy for ponies. Have you tried 1) acupuncture or energy work on your rescues? There is a book using hands-on healing techniques, Jin Shin Jyutsu for Your Animal Companion, showing diagrams of where to place your hands and for which ailment/issue, 2) playing soft instrumental music and/or children coming out to sing to the ponies? "Sing for Ponies" day? This transformation is terrific! Cheers from America.
Wonderful story/presentation of Granny Smith who now has a joyful life and has calmed down mentally as a result of your tender and focused care: incredible psychological transformation creates a calmer and happier animal as evidenced here. Idea: 1) how about amateur and professional painters, watercolorists, sketchers come out for an "Art Day with Ponies." Now, whether the artists will want to donate proceedings from the sale of their work.... hmm.... 2) An "art day" for young kids would be a happy day. Kids could draw the ponies and then walk them as a reward afterwards (versus giving them junk food....I see this a lot with kids who are rewarded with food, let alone junk food, hence the obseity rate here in America). Thank you form America. Subscribed.
The best teacher for a horse is another horse.
Look at them runnnn!

You should have called in an animal communicator….

Omg... thank you for being so patient with Opi and making sure he loves his life now. I just cried through this video! You are amazing and so is he! 🥰💕🐎💕
Oh thanks so much, he’s changed so much again since this video as well. He’s an entirely different happy and chilled guy today :)
It enrages me to see how badly these horses were being neglected. Bless you for taking them over! I wish someday I could come walk one of your little horses! 🤠🐎💜
We love to see new people at our events hope you can make it one day. We have so many rescues we love it when people get to walk with them

God bless you for taking in Opie!❤❤❤❤
I live Opi's story. Blessed. ❤😊❤
Many many thanks we feel lucky to have him :)
Boy oh boy that was tough to watch. Good on you for sticking it out and showing him what a beautiful life really is. I think the tackling and holding of him worked wonders. Sometimes you gotta be tough on them just to make them stop and take a breath. Thank you for letting him live 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks so much, it was a tough journey at times but glad we’ve got the lovely little pony that’s here with us today :)
❤❤❤❤❤
I love you all so very much…. TY…. Your love and patience is remarkable!🙏✝️
Oh that’s so nice to hear thank you! Can’t wait to share some more stories very soon :)
🩵✌️
You did an amazing job poor little guy didn’t know what to do with himself. ❤❤
Oh thank you so much 😊
People often forget overweight animals are just as bad as underweight, they cause health conditions and painful issues.
Exactly right and I think in miniature horses especially so with conditions like laminitis and founders occurring from obesity
Such a wonderful story! Thank you for saving these beautiful ponies! ❤
You are so kind I can’t wait to share some more stories of these little guys :)
Such well-behaved ponies! The doggie helpers are adorable too! ❤
Beautiful resolution for this sweet and spirited horse. Patience, Lots of Love and less testosterone can solve SO many behavior issues. I love how he’s still got to be the leader of his herd when they’re out running….so fulfilled and happy now! Well done! ❤
Yes it’s been so cool to see him out running with the herd. Although these days he lets the little red mares beat him and he’ll happily canter at their heals….
Opi is a lucky little pony who just needed a little extra help finding his way 🐴
We feel lucky to have him :)
I personally think when she was living free and feral she was living the best life she could...now she is obedient, led, submissive and "broken", correct? That's the best life she is living for _you_
She was almost completely crippled and could barely breath before we got her. 9 of the horses living with her were euthanised before we could help as they were in such bad condition the vet deemed them un-saveable. They weren’t living wild and free or something idealistic they were living a life of neglect and slow decline. She may have had to learn to lead and follow our rules but we guaranteed and extra 10 years and good quality of life…
@@BornToRunPonies Oh, ok but "born to run..." sounds like a misnomer, dont ya think? Besides many vets should have malpractice law suits and murder charges put on them so that argument from authority is not a definite truth. Many won't do what it takes or are in some indoctrination they are better off being dog food. She has no guarantee of anything with your human intervention other than constant food and shelter which just happens to be a large part if not all of her issues as an equine in the first place.
Those horses were not living, they were trying to survive because they were neglected and abandoned. Wild horses wouldn’t be fat, if they are they aren’t wild or they are sick.
@@abigray8585 exactly my point....these horses were being over fed to be that fat. The neglect was that they weren't having hooves trimmed to keep up with their domesticated diet. Fat horses with overgrown hooves doesn't occur sin the wild, now does it? I didn't say no one should care for them, I stated she seemed happier wild, free and at pasture rather then humans tugging and pulling on her, clipping her hair to look like a subject. There's a reason why (some) horses at pasture for a long time lose the training they never wanted in the first place.
❤ Opi is so lovely. I'm sure he would appreciate a Fringe trim so he can see you. 😊
Lovely, inspirational video. Well done. Good editing & voice over. Early on, I was like "uh oh, needs pony prozac for that anxiety disorder" but you really found a better way to heal him. Impressive.
I loved how the ponies were all chill after the race and their human running partners were exhausted, lol. It really shows how well you take care of the ponies. They're living wonderfully full lives! ❤
Oh thanks so much! Those hills were brutal on the people but the ponies don’t event blink. I think for some of these horses we’ve put years of conditioning and fitness into them and really pays off in steep tough terrain like this 😊
What a wonderful charity you run. 🐎🐎🐎 Thank you for the beautiful commitment to Opi. God bless you.
Thank you so much! We really love the horses and seeing them out and about living their best life makes it all worth it 😊
Wow! You both show such perseverance. You are such a great mom. Kudos to all who helped Opi. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much! We are so happy we did persevere he’s paid us back 100 times over 😊
He can't see .. could you with that hair over your eyes
I don’t think the haircut was the problem 😂 we have plenty of others with super long hair and it never bothers them at all
Hair keeps the flies out and the laying of eggs from the flies. Saw some horrific eye issues with other horses in a different video due to their hair being cut - lots of infestation...
I hope this beautiful pony gets some pain relief with the awesome hoof care! ❤
Thank you for helping so many ponies in need! That hoof putty looks amazing! ❤
The hoof putty also weirdly smells amazing like pine sap. I wish we could help more horses we always have a wait list needing to come into our care.
i didn't know keratex made it! nice work
It’s fantastic stuff they make though the actual casting material is a different company
It must have broken your heart to see him in the early days; watching him literally falling apart in front of you. To think that the dear little man had known nothing about horse or human love and was so tortured trying to figure life out at the age of around 11 (I read your comment re his approximate age). Watching the vid of his transformation from such dreadful fear and anxiety is something I'll never forget. You truly have given Opie the gift of a happy life.
Thank you so much! It’s almost more heartbreaking now to realise how lovely he is and the quality of life he has now. To look back you see how truly anxious, scared and confused he was and how much he suffered all those years. At the time you were so busy trying fix everything and help him through it didn’t affect me as much. My heart breaks now for the horse he once was!
Great video , and great walking event, would love to participate. Greetings from Seattle Washington
Oh thank you! We have another one over Easter it’s 4 days 100km and we accept international entries. We also do virtual events sometimes too :)
Wow, just beautiful. Good thing he found you as not that many people would know what to do with him or have your level of patience and commitment.
Oh than you for saying that he certainly made all the work and patience worth it. He’s such a special boy :)
@@BornToRunPonies sounds like two special souls found each other. Also, you showing what can be accomplished with such a challenge I’m sure has helped many.
