I love these lyrics. Sometimes you want the person you love to stay away. It's like looking at a star - from a distance they are beautiful but if you were to get close to one you would get burned. That's how I interpreted the lyrics. "stay over my head" it's like when someone is unattainable they can remain the idealised version we imagined them to be. Sometimes a love is so precious you would rather loose it and remember it as magical than let reality destroy it and later resent it.
