Hi what is the material used in foam molding machine to make mask?
It is not a foam. It is called meltblown non-woven polypropylene. It is sandwiched between layers of meltblown non-woven low density polyethylene. The polypro is the actual filter material. It has particular static properties that make particles attracted to it. The tex (thickness of the strands) and the density of the non-woven material usually measured in grams per square meter or ounces per square yard, determine what level of filtration is produced. It is pretty easy to make. One needs only a screw type plastic extrusion machine that drives the melted material through tiny nozzles called spineretes. @@anthonywarren4207 thanks for the reply. But just want to know how much layer of non woven, SMS, and meltblow is used in it? I suppose total 6 layers, 2 of each around 25/30 gsm. Am I right? But if suppose we press it on vacuum foaming to make bowl type shape. It want damage actual structure of material which we r using for the filtration? According to u which is better, the one sold in market made on automatic ultrasonic machine or the one what we r taking about?
@@mehtavipul9531 That is the tricky bit. If you goal is to actually make NIOSH approved masks that in fact are not just fake labelled the process they have established testing requirements. This is an expensive process and will take hundreds of thousands dollars and a year or so. Forming the masks in my opinion is best achieved with heated male and female tools. My method would be to first make up the layers of the fabric, and then form the mask frame. The ultrasonic welding process is a separate step that is completed down the line. I did a quick and dirty design and could easily produce about 1,500 pieces per hour on a single line. As a textile guy, you may be able to do a better analysis of the materials for tex and density. I am going to receive some 3M masks that are N97. I will then be able to dismantle the product and measure the density and hopefully the tex of the layers. If you have that ability you could perhaps do that yourself. I have zero interest in being in the mask making business. Some friends and I wanted to help our city by making masks on a production line of my design. I needed help from the Canadian government with the very question you are asking. My line was designed to be fully automated and would produce 1,800 masks per hour per line. At the end of the emergency we would have sold the line at cost to someone who wanted to make masks, sold the line to the government at cost for storage in the event of another emergency, or scrapped the line and walk away from our loss. We would have sold the masks at our cost. I go nowhere.
