These sardines have no visual appeal. They look like someone put a few sardines in a can and covered them with mustard or hot sauce. And, they are VERY mushy.

The eel you get on sushi is a freshwater eel, the eel in that can is a saltwater eel. Pretty different animals actually.

Why just mash them up? It would be nice so see one somewhat whole. I like the Matthew fish guy better!

These would be good candidates for impromptu road trip picnics. I keep a 5 gallon bucket with a gamma lid in my SUV filled with snack items and freeze-dried meals "just in case". I look for stuff like this and toss it in the bucket. Sometimes I grab something out of the bucket when I'm at home, just to rotate the stock, as they say.

2:00 MAY CONTAIN CRUSTACEANS... why? What kind of crustaceans? Are the sardines processed in a facility that also processes crustaceans? If I buy a can of crustaceans will it say MAY CONTAIN SARDINES on the can? I think I will contact Bumble Bee Foods (the parent company, which also produces Brunswick, but not Chicken of the Sea) about this and find out what is going on. There are people who are allergic to shellfish (crustaceans), and people who are allergic to fish, but people who are allergic to one of these is usually not allergic to both. I eat sardines a few times a month, and I get the ones packed in water. Then I can pour the water off and mix the sardines with mayo and minced onion and chili pepper and maybe some finely chopped parsley. I think it makes a nice dip for crackers or a filling for a sandwich. If I am hiking or on a bicycle tour I will buy the sardines in oil because there is more nutrition in there, they taste good, and I eat everything in the can. I don't buy the flavored ones for some reason, but I think I will try the mustard kind. It might be good on bread or toast. Maybe with lettuce and thinly sliced red onion. Louisiana Hot Sauce is an actual brand of hot sauce; it is not clear if this particular brand of hot sauce is actually in the can, as the ingredient list just says "Acetic Acid, Spice extractives, Salt, Paprika".

never heard of that brand "Beach Cliff" but i see it is a product of Poland. IMHO i think the best tinned sardines come from Spain and Portugal. i always watch where my seafood comes from. also tinned sardines with tomato sauce or hot sauce are the best, because the sauce is marinading with the fish for so long it is much more flavorsome than adding your own sauce to plain sardines.
