On really thin copper with silver, I use toenail clippers and needle nose pliers. The copper is easily cut and the button will fall off.

I did an experiment with 31.1 grams of very similar contacts from automotive relays. I got about 19.1 grams of cement silver and about another gram in chloride (didn't measure it) which by my math, is like %61 or so.......

Any number on how much gold it was?

Yeah its worth to scrap it but the plastic is a big problem 😊

I take them all apart. If the transformer is aluminum, it goes in the motor pile. All magnetrons for aluminum, magnets, and copper, plus a little shred. Relays for copper and contacts. Fan motor for copper and aluminum in rotor. And obviously the cord. Retired, so it's therapy. 😊

Hallo from Bulgaria!. I also collect and refine these, in order to separate them easier, cut them a bit more to the front, so the contact stays on the longer part. Use old t-shirt to warp around, so the contacts don't fly away. Collect the magnetic, tthe non magnetic and the ones on copper separately.
