Many of my relatives were ILGWU members who worked in dress shops all their lives so this video was interesting to me. Enjoyed it, thanks very much.

This film is closer to a play. It's a pretty good description of human cruelty, hypocrisy, and general apathy. Actually, as I write this comment in February 2025, it reminds me of what the Izra hellies are perpetrating in Palestine, and the whole world watches the cruel spectacle (genocide) in apathy. There is nothing new under the sun. Human nature is pretty rotten, right down to the core. However, there is a fair amount of symbolism which is interesting: the drunken down and out's fate doesn't change, the unfitting couples don't change, cowardly people (who could have intervened, but didn't) don't change, and the only person who finally reacted, and sorted the situation out is a wounded army officer- who was not even seen to by the authorities who were called in to save him; they saved the thugs instead, after nearly falsely arresting the "nigger" (black man). Wonderful portrayal of New York society. This reminds me of a Harold Pinter play.

Ed McMahon an actor? I never knew he did any acting. When I saw the credits with his name, I wasn’t thinking of THAT Ed McMahon. What a cast of actors! I’m only at the beginning of when people are starting to get on the train. So no action has started yet. But I’m hooked!

I am from india and i watch different country movies to understand their culture lifestyle food habits and social life. So far i must have watched close to 1000. To sum up my observation, people are same every where to a great degree. Fears greed anxiety hope despair little joy etc.....

This film is gripping from start to finish. Genuinely moving performances from the entire cast. What a crazy role for Martin Sheen to spark his epic career with. And props to Beau Bridges for coming through in the end. Marvelous film. Thanks for sharing this lesser known little cinematic gem.

My view of the American people is not this one! This film is loaded with hate and prejudice. The writer and Director of this film grew up on the other side of the tracks from my views. I suppose my Education has a lot to do with my positive opinions. God Bless this very misleading undertaking. Try a little love and tenderness ❤

Wake Island was big hold out against the Japanese in WW2.

A good movie, I thought that the spooky plants were well-done as special effects go for the time period. I was surprised and yet glad, also, that they got to leave at the end .. a very different ending from so many of the old movies in this genre. Thanks for sharing!

Wake Island? ....or "Woke" Island.

There are allegorical parts to this, possibly numerous. One allegory is the NATO Freedom poster over the door. The message is strength through unity and the door is freedom and to get through the door will take unity.

And I love Beau Bridges last comment to his friend, 'Where were you, buddy?'
