However, I encountered significant issues shortly after subscribing *Credit Limit Notifications*: Before receiving my second bill, I received multiple text messages from Fido indicating that I was exceeding my credit limit. My friend suggested these messages might be fake, but to be sure, I contacted Fido directly. *Charges Explained*: During the call, a Fido agent informed me that I had incurred a charge of $650 due to using WhatsApp for long-distance calls over mobile data. They explained that if the Wi-Fi or mobile data signal is weak, WhatsApp calls can switch to cellular calls, resulting in unexpected charges. I expressed my frustration about not being warned regarding this potential issue. The agent stated that it is mentioned in WhatsApp's terms and conditions that charges may apply through the carrier. I argued that if I cannot use my mobile data freely, then I shouldn't be paying for it. I requested to speak with a manager, but after being placed on hold for two hours, my call was disconnected. This entire interaction lasted around four hours. I raised my concerns on the Fido community chat, where I also mentioned that I will escalate this issue with Consumer protection legislation or CCTS which led to a follow-up call from a representative named Ashley. She informed me that the charges were due to a call made to the US, which I denied. When I asked for proof, she said we should wait for the next bill to review the charges. 2.After few weeks, I received my bill, which only included the expected $50 charge for my plan, without any additional fees. I wanted to share my experience to warn others about potential unexpected charges related to using WhatsApp and mobile data. It’s important to understand how your carrier bills for such services and to be vigilant about usage to avoid unnecessary charges.
