    Yeah if I go to prison, beat believe I’ll volunteer for solitary confinement with a book. No being scared of having to get raped. Or stabbed or ducked with. Just peace and meditation and reading.

    So it's going to be unmanned. Because people wouldn't last 20 years in a tiny spaceship, how would you transmit pictures and data back to earth forms that distance

    • @NexusOfNovelty
      @NexusOfNovelty Год назад

      Yes! I suppose I didn't make that super clear. It would be an unmanned mission. And the technological developments aren't all there yet so we we don't have all the answers on how exactly this would be implemented. It is an aspirational goal set by some brave scientists. Thanks for watching!

      Radio waves literally go on forever

    • @raymondmejias7839
      @raymondmejias7839 Год назад

      @Ungus bungus so people on earth would have to wait for thousands if not millions of years to hear from the spaceship. Unless I'm mistaken, radio waves don't travel at the speed of light. The lag time would be ridiculous

    • @NexusOfNovelty
      @NexusOfNovelty Год назад

      @@raymondmejias7839 All waves on the electromagnetic spectrum travel at the speed of light. But given that Alpha Centauri is over 4 light years away, the lag time would indeed be very high for communication by that method.

    BTW, that’s a bad definition because it doesn’t rely on the body, but it’s location. For example, you could argue that Jupiter is not a planet because of the Trojan asteroids, meaning that it hasn’t cleared its neighborhood. But more pointedly, if you had a copy of the Earth in the same orbit but 180* ahead/behind then the Earth wouldn’t be a planet, and you don’t have to change Earth at all. It also excludes “rouge planets” that are outside of a solar system, all geologically similar bodies that are classified differently because of where they are.
