Note to self a housing crash lika those in the US in 2008-2012 would not bw good for wither group. The wast majority of homeowners would be okay and be able to keep to the homes even seniors because those homes are mostly paid off. For some that gone lose jobs that night mean to loose the house. For those without a house it would be even worse. More competion on the rental market and higher job insecurity and higher unemployment. It's a lose-lose. Only a win for those owning a lot of rentals outright.

Maybe you do own a position if you don't own a house? Maybe the renting of a house is analogous to being short ownership of a house? I can't decide either way

It's like how you touched upon equity, CBOE opening up access to trade their options for retail and how there are so many retail platforms offering options trading ro retailers. Data can be free, Fees and brokerages are low . Guess it helps bring the overall costs down too.CME headline commodities future s and options is also accessible easily.. Smaller commodities physical hedgers can also access thus space

Thanks, this makes a lot of sense but I still would be hesistant to enter certain markets (Chinese) seeing what happened with the LME which was still in the UK but I still believe there is some kind of fairness in the tribunals in the commonwealth.
