Rwanda: Kigali, medical delivery drones, and a safari adventure!
Просмотров 558Год назад
Hi everyone! This is a travel vlog I made documenting my two-week visit to Rwanda. For some context, I started working full time at Zipline last year, and I had the opportunity to visit Rwanda and see how Zipline operates in person. As an engineer, it can be easy to get lost in the technical details and forget about the end user and overall impact of your work. During this trip, I talked with f...
Carnegie Mellon Robotics Major - A day in the life
Просмотров 49 тыс.2 года назад
I wanted to film a day in the life video to show people what it's like to be an undergraduate studying robotics at Carnegie Mellon University! This was a pretty busy day, and not every day is this hands-on. Note: Robotics is currently being offered only as an additional major, so if you are interested in pursuing it, I'd recommend applying to CMU for Computer Science, Electrical and Computer En...

Short version of my presentation for my summer internship project. For more details, watch the full version of the presentation: ruclips.net/video/i8jDfnjPHxw/видео.html This summer, I was a High School Intern working at Microsoft Research in the Cloud and Computing Storage group. I worked on a project that used Machine Learning and Neural Networks to identify humpback whales based on their tails.

are you ece or mechE?
Hello! I’m visiting Kigali soon for the first time. How did you join the safari? Was there a tour provider?
Your vlog encouraged me a lot...my ambition is to be a mechatronic engeneering ...thanks so much...need more contents❤😍
do you enjoy cmu?
This was my dream 😢
I'm in tears, thats my dream life
what app were you using on the 0:42 in the video?
Really classical project! Good job👍
You should only study this field if you noticed that there was at least one male-to-X jumper cable in the female-female jumpers cables box and you were bothered by it :)
Hi do you know what the comparison is between cmu and wpi's robotics program?
Great video!
Thanks for sharing!
can i get in with a low gpa
This is wonderful, Thank you Jasmine!
This is wonderful, Thank you Jasmine!
This is amazing, keep up
I want to start my own Robotics Engineering Company. Wanna Join ?
how to learned it please can u make video about it
What is the best way to follow the line and detect balls to save them?
So jealous with all components at your own disposal 😮

Please how much for the tuition fees and how long for the programme. You are living the life
great university, the setting is great to grow in robotics
please, i need more video like this.
your capstone is amazing!
Ackerman steering 🙄? You must have been a student of Mechanical engineering!!
Haha not me, but the capstone was a group of students from different majors. Our group had a computer scientist, an electrical engineer, and a mechanical engineer.
This was awesome and inspiring!
I’m a master student in neuroscience in France who has a keen on robotics. That silicone shit is super expensive, I’m sooooooooo jealous girrrrrrl
hi! im an incoming scs student (probably ai major) and want to have robotics as a secondary major, the only thing is that i have no experience in the hardware aspect of robotics at all (i know how to code robots mostly through simulators and have done so) and am wondering if it's doable with almost no prior experience actually building robots. next year (or well- this year i guess) i will most likely try making a mobot and racing it as well as visiting the makerspaces but am worried that i will fall behind in the major amongst people who had access to robotics in high school. so, is the major doable for someone with no hardware-focused robotics experience?
Hi there! Yes the robotics major is definitely doable without mechanical engineering experience. You can choose courses that fulfill the requirements that are software/computer science oriented. For example, computer vision, path planning and SLAM were all purely software classes that counted towards my robotics major. If you are interested in learning the mechanical side (which I definitely recommend you do because it's a lot of fun), I recommend the IDEATE courses because they're beginner friendly, hands on, and have a small class size so you get lots of feedback from the professor. I took Creative Kinetic Systems and it was an amazing intro to how to design in CAD, fabricate using laser cutters/3d printers and more. Best of luck with college :)
Nice 😮
This was really cool to see! I am studying Robotics Engineering myself but sadly my university's program isn't the best and isn't teaching us much :(
Its okay, dont lose faith!!! you will create amazing things!
Thank you!😄@@shifashaikh1712
@@DhruvPatel-jo9tn Welcome! in return just keep working hard!
You are really soooooooooooooooooo lucky
i wish if you can make more vidoes about your robot project thanks miss jasmine
What is ecology? This looks like so much fun!
you should 100% google it
Also an alum (1982). Remembering one of the students in senior year ASE making a robot gripper by stiffening the outside of 3 garden hoses and applying air pressure to make it grip. Maybe a soft robotics first?
Rn I do robots for fun/as a hobby, gonna go to college for Comp Sci though. Making me want to go for Robotics now just for all the parts you have access to. LOL
This looks like a very fun experience! I can’t find an undergrad program in robotics though. Are you majoring specifically in robotics?
Hi! I mentioned in the caption that at CMU you can only do robotics as an additional major to your primary major :)
I majored in computer science at first and then added on the robotics major my second year
Inspirational; can I get your mail, would like to link up.
how do we apply to cmu for majors in robotics?
Hi there! You can’t apply as an undergrad to the robotics major directly. You’ll need to apply as an engineering or computer science major and then you can add on the robotics major once you’re there
Bro ur hyping me up sm for when i graduate, i wanna do mechatronics at bcit after highschool
Now I want to join the Carnegie Mellon University
That's really cool, that they have a free lab for students project
she's living the life <3 !!
woahhhhh
This the coolest video I have seen today
Ahhhhhhh. I am so jealous! I am a Mechatronics major at CSU Channel Islands and the facilities here are just so lacking. You have sooooo much more cool stuff and places to work with :(
what time was it when you went home?
What software were you using for the jellyfish?
I was using python with a Raspberry Pico board

This was very nostalgic as an alum, thanks for uploading. Great to see there’s finally a dedicated makerspace on campus.
Do you think windows or mac is better for someone in the robotics field in your opinion?
Linux
I would agree with Linux. It’s able to run most robotics related platforms like ROS. You can buy a windows computer and then dual boot it with Linux
