The 2012 Band of the Fighting Irish Marches into Notre Dame Stadium
The best College Marching Band in College Football history and the best Fight Song of any College Football Team in history. The best Alma Mater in history. Need I write more?
Agreed, this is the best fight song in college football history, this was my high school song back in the 80's. I am huge FSU fan and I love the Warchant, but the Warchant is not a school song.
Go Irish
Orji in the end zone
Otho in the end Zone
Notre Dame vs. Purdue Sept 8, 2012 I was in Section 9 Row C, Seat 7.
The pageantry before the games is breathtaking in itself!! Love those color guards in those kilts!
Notre Dame of Jolo college...my beloved alma mater...class of '90
Wow I’m British our bands walk yours certainly do move fast full of energy
Ole Miss Rebel here who got goosebumps upon hearing the Notre Dame Victory March....such an iconic & wonderful song.
Yes, Notre Dame has the best fight song of all time, despite the alcoholic lyrics high schools have been singing since I was in high school some 50 years ago.
What's the significance of the fellows wearing kilts?
It’s meant to be a tribute to Irish culture yet they look more like the Buckingham palace guards. They got the kilts right at least.
IL KILT SCOZZESE HA ORIGINE DAL GONNELLINO DEI LEGIONARI ROMANI ,ANCHE LE CORNAMUSE ,ERA LO STRUMENTO DEI PASTORI ,E L ESERCITO ROMANO ERA COMPOSTO IN GRAN PARTE DI PASTORI E CONTADINI...INFATTI SONO SUONATE ANCHE I FRANCIA E SPAGNA . AVE piero da Roma
misleading title, mostly close-ups of the band leader and not the band
The absurd bail reilly cheer because rat univariately suppose lest a towering shark. mountainous, jazzy halibut
Had me until Pete....
Are these a a military band
"Wake up the echoes."
The band’s more impressive than the team, tbh.
LOVE this ...it was my son's first home game at his alma mater! I loved going to these games...your son made everyone proud! Just beautiful! Thank you for posting! Go IRISH forever!
Final Score: ND 20-17 Purdue
IT'S ALMOST TIME
Grande Show ! Abraços do Brasil
Would be interesting if UMaine would ever play ND(LOL)...I know a few places where having the ND band play the ND Victory March would give some families of sasquatch a wake up call...;-) Would make for some interesting footage...
notre dame band is number one
Hey Jason I think you are right, you guys don't have bands but you guys sing like crazy! I like that. And the team loyalty is crazy great!
Great to see the show. Earl one of life's little luxuries is singing yourself hoarse at a match .. check the Irish soccer supporters at Poznan in Poland on you tube ... good stuff! 'Irish at Poznan' should find it
Without the band its just a game, Go ND!
it's
i live right above this school.
this is cool... but it could only work in america... if this was done at a rugby match or soccer etc. in Europe especially the U.K. and Ireland there would be a riot. we go to games to watch the sport, not the half-time show. But don't get me wrong this is pretty awesome and some of the stuff i've seen bands do is nearly beyond belief
Almost everyone goes to watch the sports, this is basically a time filer and being a Marcher my self I have come to accept it. If they did all of this creative stuff over there, I bet they would like it.
Jacob Schiess im not trying to mess with you but over here we have theatres and stages for people who want to dance and sing etc. and im not trying to offend believe me, my brother does lots of stage acting and singing and i enjoy seeing him do it, but if it was done in between the halves of a rugby game here it would kill what has a traditional atmosphere. he would agree and he hates sport. also in ireland (where im from) we have our own home grown (amatuer) games called hurling (argueably the oldest game in the world [perhaps next to soccer]@3000 years old - really) and gaelic footabll, if this happened at one of those matches there would riots on the streets.
Jason Harney Oh no I dare not say that we change traditions of your sports no no.... I am saying that over here in High School we have judged competitions for specifically marching band, and we have parades, and other events of the like that aren't related to sports, I am sure a Rugby field could be used for the purpose of one of these competitions. I think it would go over well as long as it doesn't interrupt your beloved rugby and "football" or Soccer as we call it. And Nor am I trying to offend. :)
Jacob Schiess ohh right I misread your comment I think. yes of course fields could be used in that way. also i hate soccer or football its for girls. but some fans particularly in england and scotland can get pretty violent over stupid stuff. the two games for me are hurling (best game ever) and rugby.
In 2001 my University (Ohio Northern) marched the halftime show at the Crystal Palace Eagles soccer match in London England. We were invited back by the fans the very next year.
We can always play with them in spirit Courtney.... When playing the video @my desk I can feel the embouchure of decades past shouting...Let's Go!
Great video, and your son was a great drum major! Thanks for bringing back the memories! Jane, Class of '84, Piccolo
Does anyone know the name of the clan associated with the tartans they wear?
It is a unique plaid designed for the band and university, by the late band director, Robert O'Brien. The full history is on the band's home page, but here's some of it: The design was submitted to the Court of the Lord Lyon, in Edinburgh, Scotland, on March 11, 1970. There it was examined by the Tartan Advisory Committee which confirmed that the Notre Dame plaid did not appear to be associated with any clan or name in Scotland. The blue design was adopted by the University as the official plaid and has been trademarked and copyrighted. The colors in the plaid symbolize the following: GREEN- the Fighting Irish BLUE and GOLD- the colors of the University of Notre Dame du Lac RED-the Church and the Holy Cross Fathers BLACK- delineates the design
Thanks Jane

@oumick1313 Uh their not skirts those are kilts. A big difference
The guys in the skirts look like morons out there. Almost like the "special" kids that they had to find a place for them to participate.
It's just a tradition, and they had to be in the band before they could become a guard member.
oumick1313 when you decide to get your head out of your ass we will Converse
SKIRTS?!?!?!
3:00 what song is that ?
Hike Notre Dame

Plus you don't have to attend Notre dame to be in the band you can go to St. Marys college or holy cross college....at least that what I've heard
