Born on Duncairn gardens the house I was born in is still there , Mum and Dad from north Belfast mum from Lilliput street Dad from trafalgar street in sailor town .
What a great video. Does anybody remember the lovely little outdoor wear walking shop that used to be at the end of the shopping parade? They used to sell leather boots either camping equipment or possibly hardware items. I used to love going in that shop back in the 70s and have very fond memories but simply cannot remember the name it may have had the word brown in it but I’m not sure could anybody else remember I wonder?
I was born in this hospital in 1965. I’m sure I was told that I was delivered by our family GP Dr Gibson. Can’t imagine that happening now. Does anyone know where in the town it is. I’m assuming it was demolished years ago?
Great 2 see old photos of York street and shore road again better then that what it is 2 day with no shops now and only 1 pub and I'm from old mervue street who went 2 Hillman PS and then mountcollyer sec school
Once again I love tiger's bay Belfast, but living here in Brampton ont Canada I see both sides of the troubles, I'm so sad that leaving northern Ireland has give me a new perspective,, I drink in a great wee pub here and everyone gets along with each other, it's called Maguires and we all got along until Glasgow rangers f.c won 55 , (onlyjoking), but we laugh and friends are all Canadians, Irish North and South, Welsh ,English and as I'm Ulster Scottish I'm proud of myUlster Scottish upbringing, but I wish all people who are nice to each other all the best of luck in life.
Very nostalgic looking back at Bangor in its glory days.Better then that what it is 2 day with just a big.marina at front for sailors and coloured containers for shops
Worked at Harland and Wolff for three years before imagrating to Canada in 1977 with my wife Corinne and daughterLindsey, we have a son called Errol and a daughter lee-anne born here in Canada and a beautiful grand daughter called shade who is 18 yearsold and a great blessing to our family, I used to go to Our social club back in the early 70s and it was great, , I'm originally from 19 mervue street and would love to hear from anyone back home in Belfast city, I'm Sammy Campbell reaching out to my family and friends , thanks for reading my post, I hope to get a reply, (cheers)

any footage of buck alec and his pet lion lol no characters these days the mckee's weatherall's all long gone although guess silver was not as hard as he thought coming down here to Ards and annoying big Blair Mayne as one witness watched as a man still sitting in his barstool was seen being launched through a pub window at high speed lol
Can clearly remember that terrible Saturday afternoon. Was in a football game '11Th Life boys' v Dr. Barnardo's boys team at their home grounds at Whiteabbey. Game was called-off due the Gale. had a welcome Tea & hospitality with the Doctor Barnado's Boys. On getting home my parents described the Disaster as the sad news was on the Wireless.
The Troxy had a Midnight Matinee were Frank Carson entertained one of his first Large Live audiences, concert followed by a sad Romantic film in 'Cinemaskope' Got home at about 3AM (1956).
North Belfast born, lived at north derby street and later 24 Jellicoe drive until 1977 when we moved to 74 Sunningdale park. Our family was Spratt , my mum who married Frank Hamill a buyer in the Belfast CoOp. My mum worked as a clerk at FB Mckee builders, shore road. I went to Seaview primary school. Thanks for posting.
absolutely loved this; don't know the streets or area as I grew up in another part of Belfast until my family migrated but felt a connection with all the photos - thanks so much for sharing
That was so lovely to see. Im not from the area but am really interested in the history of Belfast. Beautiful photos, beautiful music and im sure many wonderful memories. Well done for putting this altogether
I've lived in Haverfordwest most of my life, and this reminds me forcibly that I wish I'd taken a lot more pictures of things that are now gone. Nice little video - but the music is, frankly, awful.
They really ripped the heart and soul out of Bangor when they built that 'car park for boats' monstrosity in the bay. All those lovely walks beside the sea wall, gone. The view across the bay, gone. The beautiful old sea wall ripped up and replaced by a car park. The prominades replaced by ticky tacky novelty pavements and storage bins covered in flowers.
That's some impressive flooding at 1.! When was that, and where in the town? It was lovely to see all the old photos, but I could have done without all the tilty, zoomy effects - I felt quite dizzy by the end. It would have been great to order them by date and location, perhaps fading older photos with newer ones until the present day, so we can see the changes,
Bangor was a lovely place to live .Now an empty sea front and the outskirts just full of houses on every peace of land Sad not the lovely seaside town I once lived in
Depressing miserable shithole.
Great photos thanks 👍
