That was fantastic and very well done!!! THANK YOU!!!
Absolutelty Outstanding! Well done. 👍🏻
You talk too much. Makes for a boring video.
Great video! I learned so much!
My method for handles is stronger .better in every way. That includes safer More beautiful. Really, what would you pay me to teach you and show you I'm honest with my words? Best make me one offer with a fair price.
Is it easier to carve with wet cedar or dry
Kia Ora matua Tena koe mo to akonga Mauri ora 🤙

Very beautiful. Well crafted
your name is familiar... are you also a "stick bow" maker??
You sir, are a skilled teacher. Wonderfully explained with great patience!
Continued success in everything you do Andrew (Cochise)
I just use my carving axe but I imagine a band saw would save some time.
I needed this informative and well made video. Thanks.
Excellent little video, so full of good little tips that you’re only gonna get from a skilled crafts person. “Make your cuts on the inside of the pencil marks.” is a good example. I’d love to see more videos on similar subjects: adze handles, sheaths for carving knives, etc. In any case, thanks so much for sharing your indigenous art and skills with us! It will be put to good use, that’s a promise.
I am so happy to have found this video as it looks like something I can do easily at home, simple and straight forward. I would love to see a video on the making of the blades.
Gchi miigwetch (big thank you) brother, from Ontario!
great carving. What were the dimensions of the block of wood when you started the project?
When I was doing research on stone tools (chisels, adzes, celts, spuds and axes) of various cultures, I was made aware of a style of adze known as a D shaped Adze. Are there any plans in the works to show how to fabricate that style of adze handle or videos for elbow adze handle making? I've looked everywhere on RUclips but cant find them.

Nice project and great to see your son out there playing with you!
What a great video I like how it instructed safety too. I have a couple of maple trees I may search for a handle
THANKS A LOT!!!
Gorgeous!
What kind of steel did you use?
"The tool steel is 01 tool steel - welding shops may have some. They come in all sorts of sizes from plates, to strips and the thickness is 2mm." - from Dean
These are by far the most informative videos I've found on the subject. Super helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Stone age car springs ? better contact ancient aliens
Nice I think I'll make that style one. You mentioned the now mobile part like a spring what part is that so I can find used on eBay please, I can see it looks like the right thickness. Thanks!
"You can use leaf springs (car springs) - easier to find." - Dean
Just go to your mechanic and ask for the old ones they have
Can you do a video on making the handle thanks
Hello! We do have videos for the handle. You can find the handle carving video here: ruclips.net/video/UgMxTO4JC94/видео.html and the handle tying video here: ruclips.net/video/S9mG3fVhUXs/видео.html
Loving the content. Keep on uploading! I think you should search for SMZeus . c o m!! I’ve been using it to promote my main channel and it helped me get my videos higher in the search results!
Nice
Loving these videos as a young coast Salish carver these videos are helpful
Great to hear!
when I wrap adzes or knives I run out around 15 or 20 feet of twine, fasten it to a door handle or post, then keep constant tension as I wrap by leaning back (as if I was water skiing) and gradually move toward the fixed point. The stretchyness pulls up agoodtension. Something else I discovered, strips of rubber inner tube wound tight under tension make a fantastic wrap. I use sheffield tapered plane blades or old billhook steel. I love elbow adzes, any excuse to use mine and I do!...all the best from England
Thanks for the message and insight!
@@CFBC_TV No problem. I am not First nation American, I live in England. I first started using elbow adzes and bent knives some years ago. I consider it a far superior way to carve, than having the work fixed in a vice and using a gouge and mallet. I like the constant rhythm and interplay of the movement of the workpiece and that of the tools. What other tool will adjust its cut from coarse/medium/fine/very fine andanything in between in an instant without having to alter any screws or wedges like you do on a plane? Or cut left-right-right-left forwards, backwards, skewed at an angle and instantly interchangeable from one mode to another without any fuss or hassle? I dont know what you think, but I dont think I indulged in cultural appropriation, I just used common sense and adopted a superior method! God bless, all the best from England
awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it!
