No Pain, No Gain - Achievement Guide - Halo MCC - Solo With 2nd Controller
This is a segmented run detailing my method for getting the "No Pain, No Gain" achievement in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. This achievement is for completing 1 mission in the Master Chief Collection with the LASO playlist skulls enabled.
I believe the easiest level to do this on is Shutdown in Halo 4.

This was captured with Game DVR on XboxOne so unfortunately the achievement popping is not recorded but as you can see at the start of the level I have the achievement completed.

just do uplift reserve
So pissed. Did it and the achievement wont pop.
Just got it! But after like ~50 attempts at the launch I just decided to fight through the first area. You can use Carbine + DMR to pick off the grunts and jackals. Elites can be trouble but I found it easiest to get in close and melee them until a back-smack instakill. There are also hunters at the end of first area, but you can pick up Fuel Rod and Incineration Cannon, so between that and some luck I was able to blast one off a cliff, and then I wandered around hoping for a checkpoint and by the time I came back the other hunter was good. I did this solo on pc and just needed to save/quit at each death, then Resume campaign to keep the checkpoints. Thanks for the guide. and good luck all!
I tried this and couldn’t quite get it to work, the impact would always kill me. I then remembered how stupid-easy Reach’s Nightfall is, and knocked that mission out, using all the Reach skulls. However, the achievement wouldn’t pop.. so, FYI, I’d recommend Nightfall for this achievement-if it worked. If anyone might have an idea why that mission isn’t working for the achievement, please reply. Anyway, good luck.
Hey I did it on r the first reach mission winter contingency and I did not get the achievement. So this achievement only applies to the original master chief games where you play as the master chief, not reach or ODST. I’m sure of it. 😢
Now I can finally rest my soul from this pain...
Wow, just used this video to get the achievement (MCC PC). I was able to do it solo, you just have to save/quit and then resume campaign any time you die. The other trick was to not sprint off the edge and use jetpack for that first "launch" skip. Once I got through that, pretty easy to grab the banshee and make it to the end of the mission. Thanks!
Tried this about 150x following the guide to sprint off the ledge and couldn’t get it. Did it first try following your tip of not sprinting. Thanks

I did it on Uplift Reserve in ODST
I just wanted to say ur idea helped me more than this. I went at this for 2 hours. Then I just plowed thru uplifts reserve and got it first try 😂 Fml

that breaking bridge just kills me it doesnt send me flying at all

I did this on Pillar of Autumn and didn't get it, but had skulls like Grunt Funeral on. Although I had no zero multiplier skulls on, would this affect it unlocking?
Grunt Funeral is ok. If it's Legendary difficulty and these skulls for Halo CE then it complies with the LASO playlist: Black Eye Boom Eye Patch Famine Fog Foreign Grunt Birthday Party Grunt Funeral Iron Malfunction Mythic Recession
I had 13 skulls on, that's all except Bandana, and still didn't get it.
Yeah it needs to be the 12 I listed above. For some reason it's not literally "all skulls on" but the specific skulls Halo MCC requires for the LASO playlist, which is only 12 skulls instead of 13.
That's annoying. I thought the extra one would be fine because of the one multiplier. I'll give that a try.

How did your guest not get hit?
I honestly don't know. He's chucking loads of 'nads at me but they don't hit. Maybe cause that controller is idle?
