    How’s the light meter? I’m tempted to get the camera since I sold my m6 and wanted a cheaper rangefinder

      The light meter inside this camera is broken, but I am using the KEKS cold shoe light meter and it works great. You've got exposure compensation settings as well, so I like to set mine to read at +1 stop of exposure which is so so nice for my exposing preferences. Wish I had a referral link, but check out their website to learn more

    Hey! I’m glad I found your channel…I love how you are inspiring other creators such as myself. So I’m subscribed! I’m starting a podcast business soon…but there’s one thing I’ve been thinking about…so besides recording & editing their audio & video, what other services do you offer your clients? Because what I’m realizing is that after the shows are recorded, clients don’t know what to do with the files. Meaning, uploading them to the different podcast directories (Apple, Spotify) and/or RUclips. So, do you offer to do that for them? Or after you record & edit, they handle the rest? I’m super curious about that. Thanks for any help you can provide. I just read more of the comments and I see where you pretty much answered my question. I’d like more detailed information about services you provide and your overall business structure for your podcast business. And I’m willing to pay for you to consult me thru my process if that’s something you’re interested in. Please let me know…thank you!

    For the love of all that's holy don't get a Blue Yeti. They're condenser mics that are super sensitive and if you don't have a quiet room you're going to hear everything. Rather get an Audio-Technica AT2005USB or similar dynamic mic. They cost under $50 and sound great in untreated rooms.

    • @AsherJames

    • @AsherJames
      @AsherJames 4 месяца назад

      Hey Miguel! Our pricing guide starts out at a $200/hr for just a studio rental and me being there to do the tech but then pass off the audio to the client. We then also have a video add on for those hourly bookings too. Past that, most people are booking a 10 episode package with me that ranges from 2400 - 3900 and included full production, editing, and distribution

    Asher, thank you so much for making this video! I am not going to lie, you deserve way more views and subscribers. Awesome photos too! This video even in 2024 resonates with me and I agree that slowing down is needed in this environment. All of us can be better people to each other if we stop dedicating ourselves to social media. All of your content is amazing but a reason it is not being promoted is probably because it is against the entire environment of RUclips. They are always trying to push for more watch time and you telling the good message of get away from it all is the best message that could ever be said. It has been an amazing reminder for my life to wake up from the struggles of the day and take light in that. you are probably never going to see this but I would like to say, making videos like this is not easy because view counts and other things but this video has been the most important video I have scene in a long time so, thank you and stay safe.

    Could you do a video on how you do hybrid coverage? I'm thinking process breakdown, setting client expectations, when to shoot photos and when to roll video, techniques you use to get sufficient coverage, what to do with actions that don't repeat (first looks, first kisses etc.). I'm really interested in hybrid but the logistics of it can feel a bit intimidating.

    Hey, Asher! Good to see this starting up! I always thought you'd do great things (it's Kristy from BN all those years ago). I passed this on to my Discord friends, so hopefully some of them will check it out too, as a few are illustrators and writers, etc. I hope it blows up in popularity soon! I feel the way you speak and approach these subjects will be something that people enjoy. It's not rustic, that's not quite the right term (maybe it's the farming analogy), but it's at least very personal. There's a lot of content out there like this that's all same-y and very methodical and almost corporate-feeling, and those just slide off me personally. Yours is much different to that, so I hope that leads to success. Looking forward to episode 2!

      I am doing well enough. I'm in Australia now, so I'm curious about comparing the small differences (although the general feeling of not being able to get a raise no matter how you work is mostly still true here). At least number of hours worked doesn't equal if you get benefits or not in AUS (healthcare is federal, a few things are private though). And a "full time" work week here is generally only 38 hours (often with 45 min lunches) and not 40 (though this differs if you work in retail or service, etc). As it was, I'm still seeking some inspiration for my own life so this is well-timed and I'm sure applicable no matter where in the world you are. @@AsherJames

      Hey Mezike! Thank you so much for watching! I would love to make a video about that someday! In the meantime, the folks over at the Film Photography Project have lots of helpful resources on the Bell and Howell 8mm cameras! filmphotographyproject.com/skinny-regular-8mm-home-movie-film/

    Nice vibes and video and thanks for the information on the Luts used. The Sony A74 and Canon R6 Mark 2 are two of the camera's which are part of my four to five year plan

      Thank you so much! I just got the A7IV this year and I'm absolutely loving it. The impact it has had on my ability to actually make the things look the way I have them in my head (color and exposure specifically) is insane, highly recommend

    Have the exact same setup as you, X-700 and some kodak gold 200, did you use the built in light meter w the appature priority or did you run program mode??

    • @AsherJames
      @AsherJames Год назад

      Awesome! It's seriously my favorite set up and it doesn't break the bank either! I personally don't use aperture priority or program mode, I run my camera in full manual settings. It took me a bit to figure out and trust myself using the internal light meter, but I've since gotten the hang of it. I have found that with this camera particularly I like to "off subject meter" for the shadows so I don't lose those details. Maybe that could be a good video tutorial idea! I've found that the highlights are always easier to recover in film than the shadows!
