Review - 3D Printed Spray Ball
Quick test of my 3D printed spray ball for my bucket blaster keg washer.
With a few more holes drilled in the top it covered most of the fermentasaurus, alternatively you could lift the spray ball higher.

How To - Replace Guten Pump

Disclaimer, I take no responsibility for your actions blah blah blah. Recently my pump not stopped working so I reached out to Keg King and got a replacement. Swapping them over is really easy, only basic knowledge and tools are required.
Top Tip - Kettle Cleaning
Просмотров 1863 года назад
Quick tip to get rid of the marks in your kettle. I did a quick soak in sodium percarbonate, then drained and scrubbed with a magic eraser. It's amazing how quickly this gets everything shiny again! You can use it on the false bottom or any perforated plates, but the magic eraser will magically erase itself like cheese through a grater.
Technique - Drauflassen
Просмотров 2583 года назад
I decided to try something new on a batch of Pale Ale called Drauflassen. German for 'to put on top of', it has a few advantages. 1. Save on yeast 2. Break up the brew day - single batch kettle and double batch fermenter 3. Get sound cool by using a German word It's like having a giant starter I guess.
Review - Standing False Bottom (Guten 70L brewday)
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.3 года назад
A quick look at the standing false bottom that Keg King supply for their Guten range of brewing vessels. I would have done a review on the whirlpool arm but my pump has stopped working for some reason. Once I get that fixed I'll do another video. Overall, I think this performs better than the helix, and much better than the standard bazooka. I could use a combination but if something clogged un...
Review - 58L Kegmenter
Просмотров 7 тыс.3 года назад
I bought this from Keg Land and this is my first use of it. Overall, a great unit, I just had one issue with the floating dip tube coming off the post. I think it was because everything was covered in Starsan, if I let it dry it might be better. It's obviously heavier than the PET fermenters, but should last a very long time. It's pretty easy to move, you can tilt and roll if you really want bu...
3D printed shank labels
Просмотров 1533 года назад
I bought myself a 3D printer last week and decided that I should label my taps because people always ask which is which. I have some different colour filament on the way as well, this was the white PLA that was included with the Ender 3 V2. I made this with TinkerCAD but will redo them in Fusion 360 so they are nice and smooth. Once I've uploaded them I'll put the link in here so you can print ...

Review - Kegland Bucket Blaster
Просмотров 3,9 тыс.3 года назад
I recently bought the Bucket Blaster from KegLand and thought I would try it out on one of my fermenters and some kegs. It did a good job of cleaning, I'll probably try and use on cubes as well. It might be worthwhile getting the larger chunks out with a hose first so they don't recirculate in the bucket, but I didn't bother with this run.

Malt Muncher 3 Roller - Geared Mill Review
Просмотров 7 тыс.3 года назад
Mill available from Keg King and some local homebrew stores. Ozito Spade Handle drill was from Bunnings. I started with the gap at 1.10mm, I have also tried 1.25mm. It seems to work really well with a larger gap of 1.40mm for me. Apologies for the volume, I might have to look in to better editing software.

Filling a fermenter from a cube

Pretty straight forward, make sure everything is clean and sanitised, then pour it in!
Using a bottling gun
Просмотров 4204 года назад
This is one way to fill PET or glass bottles from a keg. Sometimes it helps to slightly over carbonate your beer before filling as it can lose a little fizz over time. For PET there is an alternative method with just a carbonation cap, I'll put a video of that up later. I don't generally use the carbonation cap method as when you enter a competition you rarely get it back.
Quick Keg Carbonation
Просмотров 5094 года назад
Commonly known as the 'Ross Method', this is an easy way to quickly carbonate a keg if you are in a rush to get something on tap. The results can vary quite drastically, so find a pressure and time that works for you through trial and error. I think the set and forget method is much better and do that 99% of the time now.

how did you fill your picnic tap tube with sanitiser? i am just learning and dont have anything to fill up tube with sanitiser. can i do it empty? its sanitised
I also have the 60L fermzilla and thinking of the 58L kegmenter, would I fit my 55L brews into it ok it pressure fermenting....cheers Brett
nice, I need to print one of those caps(to clear out the starsan), I hoping I'll find on thingverse, if you know a better source please let me know! Thanks for the great video!
I saw the earlier post on the 3d print, thanks for your video!
Great video. I was wondering how to keep track of the transferred volume when using a steel fermenter (not see through) but I came to realise that a normal personal scale and going by weight is excellent, just tare the Cornelius keg. Simple advice but may be useful to someone.
interesting. Did you consider upping the pump size?
Tip: when almost full, just squeeze that PET bottle and cap. You will waste less beer.
Great stuff mate! Was curious about the Drauflassen process and was super happy to see a video of it being used during the fermenting process.
Hi have you had issues sealing under pressure? Mine leaks...have tried different clamps and seals....is my flange warped?
Great video! Thanks mate!
Is there a way to do this without the spunding valve? Perhaps just by purging as it fills?
You can do that. Using the spunding valve is better because you wont have pressure spikes that cause the carbonation to shoot out of solution causing a bunch of foam
Thanks. Need a short summary. Perfect. Cheers.
Nice! Great share! Cheers 🍻
What monumental waste of time and money. It's quicker, cheaper and less time consuming to do it with the high pressure hose on the back lawn.
What is this in time 00:1 i'm from thailand i need it thank you
hi Do you use this fermzilla without adding any CO2 at all?
fermzilla vs kegmenters.. what can you tell us about cons and pros?? space, handle them, lifespan, etc
whats IPA?
Considering the 58L Kegmenter - have you brewed 20-25L batches with any issue?
Hey mate, ever since getting the Guten 70L I've never made a single batch, only doubles. Saying this, I have previously fermented a single cube in another large fermenter without issues. I don't see why it would be a problem at all, I say go for it!
What towers are those?
They are from Kegland, they look good with the hidden mounting plate.
Cant understand much of what you say. Your audio?
would that one grind whole corn ?
Came across your video as I'm considering upgrading to a kegmenter from my modified corny keg. Question... do you have a link to the 3d model or stl for that ball lock gizmo you printed to help purge your lines. That's a brilliant idea and I'd like to print one for myself.
Sure thing, I found it here www.thingiverse.com/thing:1679507
@@tophatbrewing7884 Thank you very much!
Thanks. Very useful video. How much drinkable beer do you think gets wasted by the wide bottom with the floating dip tube? I saw another video that said he thought 1-2 litres is left behind. Is that accurate in your experience? Thanks.
I generally go over with my volume since I use 2 cubes which hold 22L each, but only fill 2 19L corny kegs. I've never really had the chance to empty it completely.
Great vid I have just had the same mill arrive today. Looks awesome really like your little cabinet will help keep things quick and clean . I will redoing the same myself (( including the wheat beer )) Thanks very much.
Do you boil at 3000w the whole time?
Yes I do. The entire boil, and all ramping is done at 3000w, the mash is 1000w or something close. I don't find that I get much scorching.
So u don't keep your spare water hot or does it stay hot enough in your cube?
It's still pretty warm when I end up using it, I'll try remember to take a measurement next time. Some people cold sparge so I'm not too concerned about the temperature. For the additional costs/effort involved, I don't see the need to change my set up at the moment.
Never done a cider, but wouldn’t mind trying one. Do you have to worry about oxidation during and after fermentation with it, like you have to with beer? Great info, thanks! 👍
My understanding is that it is the hops in beer that get oxidised easily, shouldn't be a drama with cider made like this. That being said, I still use my normal methods of transfer which should minimise oxygen exposure just to be safe.
@@tophatbrewing7884 thanks, that makes sense. Looks like an easy brew. I’ll put one together in the coming days. Not normally what I drink, but think my wife owes you a thank you. 😂
Never knew to turn off Co2 at the bottle to see actual pressure of carbonation. Thanks for this really useful tip. Keep em coming pls.
I have never used a bottle wand as I use kegs, but I can see a time where this knowledge will come in helpful. Thanks!
Looks great, nice job! 👍 What size freezer did you use?
This one is 500L, pretty good size I think.
@@tophatbrewing7884 yep, looks big. Just asked as I’m looking at a similar build, but only expect to go 6 kegs max. Rather go too big than too small though. Why did you decide to keep the Co2 inside in the cold, wouldn’t it be more beneficial to keep the gas in ambient temp, especially when level gets low? Maybe it wouldn’t make much difference?
@@jens5934 The only reason it is inside is because looking at a gas cylinder in the dining room isn't something I would like. It's also out of reach to anyone who thinks they know what they are doing or children. As a bonus, when I take it to get filled it's already cold so they can usually refill on the spot annd fit a little more in.
@@tophatbrewing7884 I didn’t even think on any of those issues you mentioned, especially the tank being cold for refilling. 👍
Great review, thank you! A question, I found your channel looking for Kegmenter 58L reviews and that was also very informative. Have you tried cleaning your big Kegmenter on this and does it work?
Hi Jens, I haven't tried it yet but I will soon. Need to get back in to it and make more beer, I've had a break for too long!
@@tophatbrewing7884 your problem is not enough lockdowns in your area! 😁 I’m just wondering if you think the keg enter would fit ok on the bucket blaster stand and support it alright ? I really enjoy your videos, very informative and to the point. Thanks
@@jens5934 I think it would be alright, I'll try and test it out soon for you.
@@tophatbrewing7884 FYI, it fits and balances okay. It does sandwich the pumps power cord between the bucket rim and the top of the Kegmenter though, so recommend putting something around the cord to protect it. I used a bit of split hose tubing.
Will this mill do corn?
I haven't tried corn, but it doesn't mention it in the description of the ad.
Where did u source your clamps from.
The orange ones? They are just from a hardware store.
Your videos are great. Thanks for sharing. Can you tell me what is the website you get your recipes from?
Hey mate, I make all my own recipes.
what do you call that little gadget you 3d printed for the ball lock valve? great idea
I got the file from www.thingiverse.com/thing:1679507 and printed it at home. They call it a poppet popper, pretty catchy.
hard to tell if the false bottom was better than the helix
I find the false bottom requires less messing around once it is in place. The helix worked well but most of the time I would need to use the paddle to open it up.
@@tophatbrewing7884 I've just bought my first guten and going to give the helix a crack first up. If I have to keep splitting the rings with the paddle then I'll go for the false bottom. Really liking your videos mate, would like to see more.
@@jello1977 Definitely give it a go, I would like to hear your thoughts on it. You may have more success than me. Thanks mate, I've had a bit of time off but I'll be back making more videos soon!
Did you have to remove the tap to get the helix on?
@@jello1977 You need to loosen it to get an elbow or tee on initially. But you can then leave that on between brews and just remove the helix each time for cleaning.
Great vid. How is the Mill and drill going? Thinking of getting the same setup.
Hi Ashley. No complaints so far, I would definitely recommend it.
Great vids. Where did you get the pipette?
I'm lucky enough to have a partner who works in a lab. Should be able to find similar on eBay though.
Nothing like a ghetto sparge haha.
If it aint ghetto, I aint interested!
epic build man! came out looking neat and slick. nice job. will be referring back to this on my build!
Thanks mate. Send me a link to some pictures when you build it!
what about all that oxygen you are adding to the beer?
Hi Dave, adding oxygen at pitching or just prior has no detrimental effect on the finished beer. Many people actually buy an O2 cylinder and use an aeration stone to get as much oxygen as possible in the wort to help the yeast.
Great vids mate, are you adjusting hop additions for no chill? if so, how are you doing please?
Hi Mick, yes I am. I started by moving everything 20 minutes closer to flame out and tweaking from there. A hop stand after flameout seems to work really well for hop forward beers. Let me know how you go!
@@tophatbrewing7884 Thanks mate
Oh s*** where are my sanitised gloves 😂
Excellent job. I bet you could upgrade it with either a male spiral cone atomizer or a rotary spray ball as it would be a nice bonus. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, what hose/tube are you using? Is it just a regular silicone hose? Currently trying to find one of those in Germany to avoid oxidation during my brew day. Advice is highly appreciated.
Hi Timo, yes just regular 12mm silicone hose. Brouland or Bahnik might stock the same stuff that I use www.kegland.com.au/heavy-duty-silicone-tube-2m-roll-10mm-id-x-15mm-od.html
Cool vid mate. Love the channel 👍 cheers.
Nice video mate. Just wondering how long the original pump lasted or how many brews approximately?
Hi Paul, it was a little over 12 months, can't remember how many batches sorry. I'm told that this is a rare occurrence, and a 3 year warranty on the product should provide some piece of mind.
Hi Mate, good video. On one of your previous videos you showed the cube lid with the tap. Where do you get them from? Cheers
Hi Shane, there are a few places around, this place is quite popular though peopleinplastic.com.au/product/tapiac_-_58mm_tap_in_a_cap/
