BMW Diesel F30 / F31 Coolant Leak in EGR
If you have a coolant leak and are wondering if it's leaking in the egr cooler, this video may be able to help confirm that. I was losing coolant internally for a few weeks and this was eventually found to be in the EGR system. The clue is the engine coughing and spluttering a few seconds after ignition.

How to fix a dripping / leaking delonghi expresso ec685 / ec680 machine. Joint o-ring replacement. Make sure you unplugged machine from electricity when opening the lid. Remember, if you need to operate it when open, be very careful and do not touch any electrical wires. At the time of writing here is the link to the o-rings I purchased. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07GJYQVQR?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_pro...
Ruby Tuesday for Alzheimer's

Our Mum has Alzheimer’s. Time is therefore precious and lockdown makes it harder for family and carers, including our Dad, the great Tom Jones. She's a Barry Manilow fan, but thankfully, she also loves The Rolling Stones 👍🏼. This video is for her. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it. Spread awareness/donate if you can. Anyone know where I can buy those rings? I googled 8mm delonghi gasket o-rings and get only the large ones for the front.
Mine was leaking on the Y tube near the head. I remedied it by using baking soda+ super glue then taped it. No more leak so far. Dunno what its called or where to order it lol. Thanks
Thank you for this, very useful
The machine is full of plastic parts, which are in direct contact with hot water. Don't know if they are safe for health.
❤merci Canada 😅
Thank you very much! I have a leak in this place. Ordered a spare part! Good luck! )
Thank you kindly, sir, saving people a fortune by not having to go to an 'accredited Delonghi service center'..
Does anybody know why the orange light permanently blinking despite descaling ;
Hi, my machine's sediment alarm is on, I descaling my machine but the alarm doesn't turn off, what should i do?
thanks ❤
Does this machine use a pump or steam system for the espresso?
I'm looking forward to sampling a variety of coffee, teas and cocoa.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video. And also for your whiteboard pic of the measurements of the washer. Fantastic. 🙂
Dude. Great job
Thank you! Same problem, very useful video!
Mines leaking from the steam nozzle. Took it apart to have a look inside and now steam escapes from the steam adjustment knob too!🤦♂️
Nice one. I have mine since 5 jahrs. Just got this problem as well. Thank you for the video. God bles you🎉
grazie 🙏 molto utile
Thanks a lot for producing this video, thanks for your time and erpertise! I saved a lot of money watching it 🙂
Thanks. Your fix worked for my delonghi icona vintage eco310. The orings recommended by you worked fine. They did look slightly larger than the old ones, but only by a tiny fraction.
Thanks for this. Can’t seem to get the clip back in. It appears to be obstructed by the metal ring on the plastic tube. Does this mean the tube is not inserted fully?
the o-rings might be expensive for a reason, special material that's both food grade as well as resistant to the appropriate pressure and heat thanks for the video
Super helpful! Thank you! Very thorough.
how did you manage to put the little clips back in?
I am wondering if this is my issue as well...mine only leaks when I am frothing the milk. I'll have to take it apart and see if there is any water in the machine. Thank you!
I noticed liquid underneath my machine this morning. Probably the same problem. Thanks for the video. I'll search Amazon for the "o" rings.
Delonghi have really good Designs but very very poor builds. Plastics everywhere. These are cheaply made machines. A used italian espresso machine cost s less, makes better espresso and lasts forever with minimal maintenance.
Awesome and very helpful! Many thanks for posting this tutorial!
Thanks for the video. My problem was the damn little spring and ball underneath the feed decided to lodge itself weirdly. Tip for the orings if anyones seeing this. Just put the oring ON THE hose at the very end (Not quite all the way seated) and push it back in. Then pull the hose back out and verify that the oring is seated in there correctly.
Hi, I can’t seem to get the clip back into the port - any tips please?
Good tips. But.. Mine leaked from the main dispenser when I switched it on. It was dry inside so none of the connections were leaky. Drips continue after a cup is made so I thought it was a heat issue.. expanding joints etc. Nevertheless, I replaced 3 o-rings that I could get to - the one you said, plus one at the back of the machine and one just above the dispenser.. and it cured it.. performs now as when new.
4:35 It’d be easier if the oring is shroud through the white tfpe tube first, and insert the tube into the connector, than insert oring into connector.
Thanks for this very useful video / solution. I came across your video as I was searching for any experience / solution regarding leaking from the base of the machine. When I use mine / leave it standby I find that water pools underneath the base of the machine. Any thoughts / tips appreciated.
Do you have any idea how to fix a leaking steamer? Mine drips water whenever the machine is heating up and when pulling the espresso. It's a while out of warranty and I'm desperate to fix it as it is beloved in my house :(
Thanks. Worked for me.
the factory ones are special that take high temperatures I read ,
The ones I've used have no caused any issues so far. Been in for 2 years now.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. My problem wasn't the 'o' ring it was the 3-way 'y' plastic valve. So I paid out for 'o' rings i didn't need BUT your video gave me the confidence to take the job on and start the elimination process that ultimately saved me buying a new Dedica. Thanks again!
Hi, where you bought it? Your case sounds like mine, water isn't ejected, properly, around the ring not just by the middle dropping, opened and realized looks like can't drain properly so on rejected to inside as well
ruclips.net/user/shorts91b1Zs671Ys?feature=share
How did you fix 3 way Y connection?
@@eldorj4080 you have to buy and replace the Maynard Valve... it's not expensive or hard to fix.
Thank you a lot
My coffee machine is when I start to shot the coffee, it loses a few drops of water through the milk steamer. what could it be?
Thank you!
Personally, I enjoyed listening to excellent NON-American English and just got high from it. However, I did not understand at all where to put this 2x4x2 spacer. I have the same problem with the EC680 and I took the whole thing apart to see if it was the gasket that is in the three part where the horn is inserted. It's very difficult and I was happy to find your solution video. I want to do as you did, and I want to ask you if you could give me a couple of minutes and explain the algorithm in the form of a picture-text. This can be done to my mail or post a video with a photo and text on RUclips. I am sure that you will be grateful to a huge mass of people who find it very difficult to grasp the essence of the decision by ear. Thank you in any case and happiness in life🙏
Many thanks. Appreciate the comments.
When you take out the pipe there should be an o rign left in the socket if it didn't fly out. Take that out, put the new ring in place inside the socket, then put the pipe back in. Job done. Does this help?
I pulled the pipe out as per the video, and could not reach for the o-ring. On top of this, I'm struggling to fit the pipe back into the right-angle bend and get it to stay in place; I can't push it in far enough to secure it with the clip. Any help?
I managed to solve my issue, I fashioned an old paperclip into a hook and fished the o-ring out, there was no damage to it but replaced it with a fresh one as my machine is 3 yrs old. I put the fresh o-ring on the end of the tube before fitting it back in :)
Great work! Always a way
@@colonelcorndog couldn’t have done it without this comment. You’re amazing, i was fiddling for an hour
thanks
Hey Jonesy, nice video in case this ever happens to mine, which I have had already for 5 years. Just wanted to mention, it is GOOD, that it leaks out of the bottom in case of an internal leak, because otherwise it would fill up inside and fry the electronics. I figure they probably designed it that way, so that it wouldn't self destruct in case of a leak. Cheers!
Thank you for a very helpful video!
Is this boiler made of stainless steel, or aluminium?
Sorry, I don't know.
Many thanks for this video. I have a dripping frother outlet, which I'm presuming may be a similar problem of a leaking 'O' ring, but I was initially looking for a video on how to get into the innards of this machine, to see if I can replace what is becoming a very slow pump - and your video covers the initial problem of access perfectly. Thanks!
Did you manage to fix it? My frother is leaking and I'm struggling to find anything online to help fix it
@@Jess-cv9gi No Jess, I haven't done anything about it to date, but my frother outlet is now leaking too, but I'm also finding standing water below the machine after operation. We have a local DIY shop that sells a range of things, which hopefully will include 'O' rings, but having removed the case, it's a jumble of pipes inside, so I'm concerned about making a simple problem worse if I can't immediately see the problem, so I may just stick with a dripping pipe for the moment!
@@Jess-cv9gi Hi again Jess. I "bit the bullet" this morning and removed the top, as described in the video, while (very carefully!) making coffee. As was to be expected, sods law kicked in and the frother nozzle didn't leak! However, I was looking to see where a potential leak may come from and other than the pipe held with a spring clip just above where the nozzle pipe goes through the body of the machine, I could find nothing that would suggest a dripping nozzle - UNLESS - it was a failed 'O' ring elsewhere in the system, as described in the video. The only possible place I could see where that might happen, was on the narrow pipe that goes into the left-hand side of the switch attached to the frother nozzle lever. If you stop the video at 3 mins. 10 secs., you'll see this pipe towards the bottom of the picture, entering the nozzle lever switch on the left, below the 2 white connectors, (it's the thin pipe, on the left, NOT the larger one with a spring clip at the front.). Having looked on eBay, there are loads of listings for 'O' rings, but you need to search for those associated with either plumbing or hydraulics. I couldn't find any that gave a size of 4mm hole by 8mm diameter, but there were a couple with a 4.5mm hole, by 8mm diameter and I'm wondering if these were what were used, as I think it would be extremely difficult to differentiate between a 4mm hole and a 4.5mm one! As they were listed under plumbing and hydraulics, it could be worthwhile checking with a local plumbing shop, to see if they have anything suitable. As for my leak at the bottom of the machine - I did fix that. I took off the base plate, then removed the 3 screws holding the sprung water connectors in place and discovered that one pipe needed pushing on tighter. Another possible reason was that the water reservoir needs to be pushed firmly into place, as I think that was also allowing water to seep out due to the suction action, if the reservoir was not pushed firmly into place. Hope this helps. Alan
@@Ayjay2785 Thanks! I also couldn't see any immediate problems when I opened mine up so suspect a similar issue. For fear of making it worse (this is far out of my skill set) I may hand it over to a professional but good to know this might be an approach to try!
@@Jess-cv9gi Hi again Jess, Eureka! Today, I've fixed the leak on the dripping frother spout at a cost of £9.99. It was quite simple - though of course, the definition of "quite simple" depends on how "techie" you feel you want to be! Having purchased the replacement valve, it required 2 screwdrivers, a pair of pliers and a "dooberee" - AKA a small, sharp implement, ( I used a very small flat-head screwdriver,) to remove the 'O' ring from the old valve, which came out fine. If you feel you'd be prepared to tackle it, let me know and I'll prepare some details.
You're the best for taking time to make this video for all of us DeLonghi EC680 Dedica fans. It is a great machine! Nothing in its price range comes close. You saved me from buying a 3rd one. I've been using an inverted lid on my counter to collect all the water but I can get rid of it now thanks to you.
I opened up the top of mine and it was completely dry inside. The solution in my case was cleaning the filter inside the coffee outlet. Took 5 minutes
THANK YOU so much for this video! Mine is having the EXACT same problem in the same area AND off the steam wand. Now I know they are both easy fixes. Also my sumps keep unscrewing themselves and flying off while making, meaning you have to stand there & hold it in place. Hopefully I can find a fix for that too, or maybe this will fix that problem as well.🤷♀️. Thanks SOOOO much!
