I am arranging my favorite soft pop ballads and classical adagios for piano solo. Intermediate level. Not everything translates to the piano, namely guitar strumming, some human vocalization, and dense orchestral accompaniment. Or drums, LOL! So I adjust for the piano and make changes for easier playing.
The piano is notoriously difficult to record, either acoustic pianos or electronic VST pianos. The problem is greatest at the high treble which tends to sound too harsh in recording playback. The sampled VST piano I use most is a combination of The Giant and Noire which is great for a softer sound in the high treble. I sometimes add electric piano, and guitar. I use Spitfire's Cinematic Pads and the reverb effects of Blackhole Nebula. These effects are mostly used in an attempt to add back all the dynamics of a live piano performance that are lost in midi recording.

Tallis wrote the hymn in the 1500's. Ralph Vaughan Williams composed an orchestral interpretation of the theme in 1910. This piece has entered the orchestral repertoire and is frequently performed.

Kreisler's Prelude and Allegro was written for solo violin with piano accompaniment. It's loud - triple fortissimo in spots, and very allegro, famous for being so energetic and emotional. Sonata V, Opus 24. Composed in 1801 for piano and violin. This movement is marked allegro and played quick and bright with the piano and violin trading the melody. My piano solo version is slower and softer which I think brings out a poignancy to the melody.

From the French television show of 1971. Composed by Bernard Flossard. This piece is also known on RUclips as "Melody of the Soul," by Treat I. Bulakhova, but this may be spurious. In any case, this little song has such a simple chord progression and melody, yet is quite captivating, I think.

I use the keyboard controller Komplete Kontrol S88. I load two VST pianos to the keyboard: Giant and Noire. I find that this combination gives me a gentle sound, not too bright or harsh.

Thanks, Julie! Unfortunately I did not write the sheet music for this version. Most available versions keep the original guitar strums, which sound bad on piano, so I simply substituted arpeggios in place of the strumming. This song is very emotional, so playing it with feeling is the most important part. Thanks so much for your comment.
