Generally speaking? Some attacks propably. All of them? I don't really know. Can I parry them? Hell nah. My great shields can't parry anything. I am a sluggish fortress. lol

@@CainTheShield - yeah, I mean in general. I haven’t had a successful attempt and I’m just curious if they’re like the bears and can’t be parried. 🤔🤷🏾‍♂️

@@Corion2121 I'll be honest with ya. I'm a big weapon bonk type of player. I don't even use visceral attacks all that much. Parrying jn souls games is above my paygrade. xD The only games i've really digged the parrying in were Lies of P and Sekiro. haha. I guess ya sparked my curriosity though. I'll browse RUclips a bit to see wether Devolas specials moves can be parried or not. I need to know. P.S. The bears scare me. They haunt my dreams.

@@CainTheShield - agreed. The bears are the real bosses of the game, and for some reason, the regular bears seem tougher than the red bears. 🤔🤷🏾‍♂️ I’ve been been dual wielding with the parrying dagger and Misercord, and I must say, it is a lot of fun bullying the enemies. 😁

@@Corion2121 Right? The red bears are nothing compared to the rune bears. haha. I should try that right after my wukong playtrough. Pretty dry year so far. Time for another Elden Ring playtrough.

Dancing Lions for the win. I am currently playing Wukong and there are even more lions and dragons and dancing dragon lions. Lionception.

It's slow but packs a punch. If this was Dark Souls with some more poise, the build would be busted. But in Elden Ring so many things just stop ya in your tracks. It's a real learning curve for many bosses to figure out when to attack with the limited arsenal of shielded combat. I'm planing another playtrough with the duelist shields, as they are slightly more offensive. Should be fun. It's my fun character though, so it's vastly overleveled after over 300 hours in Elden Ring. (around lvl. 342) Stat allocation would be: - Vigor: 72 - Mind: 60 - Endurance: 99 - Strenght; 99 - Dexterity: 20 - Intelligence: 50 - Faith: 10 - Arcane: 11 I think it's possible to do away with alot of the levels and still pull this build off just as well. The only really important thing would be endurance for the carrying capacity to stay at mid-roll and strenght to do some actual damage. Gear: - Full Bull-Goat Armor - Fingerprint-Stoneshield (cold enchanted) - Fingerprint-Stoneshield (no enchantment, to remain at 100% physical damage reduction) - Both shields are equiped with the shield crash ash of war. Talisman: - Bull-Goat's Talisman - Great-Jar's Arsenal - Two-Headed Turtle Talisman - Shard of Alexander I hope that helps.

I really still need to get back to Lords of the Fallen and do a NG+ run to fight Elianne the starved. Adyr was such a boring and bad endboss fight. If I had known it would be this mid, I would have worked towards the Elianne ending from the get-go. __ I agree though. Engstrom easily was the best fight in the game. It's in fact too good to be degraded to just be an event boss. This boss deserved some better treatment. haha

More buildup in how far? The only real way to further push the madness buildup would be via leveling arc wouldn't it? Ain't no way to push it via ash of war. I actually really enjoyed this dual element build. Madness would kick once in a while against humanoids, wheras frostbite works on most bosses / enemies. Even if the damage isn't all too wild, it's a nice bite sized chunk once in a while.

@@CainTheShield Instead of opting for a cold infusion on the shield and scale more into something else that doesn't lower madness buildup. Only for fights where madness is useful ofc otherwise I understand your argument for cold.

The only way. If bosses can be a wall for us players, sometimes we have to give something back I'd say. haha

Really liked the throwback with a crucible knight in the DLC. I wouldn't have minded some more of them to be honest. They could have easily put them into the parts of the map that were a little empty. Especially so, that we still don't have all the incantations that crucible knights use in the game.

It is indeed a wall. I don't know how it compares to the infamous the wall build, as I've never taken a look at that. Just my own way to play the game since 2022 haha.

You'll progress from Shadowkeep towards the western area (the green area on the plateau). There is a bridge in the shadowkeep that leads there. In this area, there is a large elevator that leads high up. Once up there, you can jump down / work your way down to this plaza where the second Divine Beast Dancing Lion is waiting.

I just unlocked the Dueling Shield (a more combat focused greatshield). I'm hopeing that will be even better for actual offensive.

It won't drop them to their dear behind, that's right. (other than Melania, the poor girl). But it's still a decent way to get some damage in while also blocking at the same time. It's pretty trial and error on some more agile bosses though. Certainly not a "cheesing all bosses in one try"-build. It's more like a large handicap to be overcome to even win the bossfights at all.

Against some bosses, it indeed can come in handy. Pretty much all smaller bosses / NPC bosses that can be easily staggered are weak to this.

That's the might of the Shield Crash Ash of war. It can even do pretty much the same thing against Malenia in her first phase. Still working on her 2nd Phase though. I'm hopeing to get around to finish her once and for all after I'm done with Shadow of the Erdtree.

Someone that hates us. haha. That's why I used Mimic as add control, even though I'm kinda aversed to using ashes of war.

I wish. haha. That would be one hilarious outfit. It only dropped a spell sadly.

To answer some questions. _______________________________________________ Fingerprint-Stoneshield +25 (left hand) 241+209 physical damage 192+12 magical damage Status: - Madness (70) (innate) Ash of war: - Shield Crash _______________________________________________ Fingerprint-Stoneshield +25 (right hand) 340+310 physical damage Status: - Madness (70) (innate) - Frost (153) (enchanted) Ash of war: - Shield Crash _______________________________________________ The left hand shield isn't enchanted with an element, so it doesn't lose it's 100% physical damage defense stat. It's only 95 with an element. As Shield Crash is multi-hit it really helps building up status effects pretty fast tho. I like it. But honestly. It's been a while since I changed up my build haha. Maybee I should enchant the left shield too. Some blood or poison would be fun.

Adyr sure would have deserved a fight. That sure was an underwhelming encounter allright. Kinda like the endboss of Demon's Souls. What's even the point of such scripted bordedome. I think Lords of the Fallen 2 is already in the making. I hope they step up their game for the next game.

Really enjoyed it too. I think Lords is the closest a non fromsoftware souls like managed to actually copy fromsoftware. This game felt like Dark Souls 3 with a spin. Not as polished or great, but an interesting take on the genre. If they didn't have as many launch issues, the game would have been fairly solid. If they can work on their shortcomings in the sequel, i'm eagerly awaiting it. haha

I guess I should go back and re-challenge him. I'd like to see some more aggressive moves for sure.

This Quest should still be available. It's a Secret boss that can be unlocked in Fitzroy's Gorge by extinguishing 5 flames with snow balls I think. You'll have to activate it by talking to a tree. There is a decent guide on fextralife for this quest and the other 2 quests that reward armor sets.

that varies but its either of those in every run , despite doin everything right but i can see that the quest is bugged for alot both on fallen forum aswell as fallenwiki etc @@CainTheShield but ya kinda annoying running an umbral Main that doesnt even have set

That's exactly why I do it how I do it. I mainly make videos for myself to revisit after some time. Take another look at a boss fight, or see faults in my own plays to improve. Thanks for the feedback. :D

This was so tedious without any ranged attacks at my disposal. I guess That's what happens when ya replay Dark Souls years later, have no clue where ya are going and just stumble on ... this.

I guess he'll need to be smacked from DeS to Kingsfield next

I hope he is the Benchmark going forward. The devs still have plans to support the game for quite some time to come. I really hope future bosses will offer a similar challenge.

@@CainTheShield That, plus fast shifting from one area to the next, plus strong trajectory spells, plus summoning triplicates of himself or whatever it is shooting projectiles at you. No way they should make him the benchmark. If anything he needs to be nerfed.

Yeah. I think it was "Umarmung der verdorbenen Mutter" (Putrid Mother's Embrace). It can be aquired by interacting with the Shrine of the Putrid Mother @ Skyrest Bridge (next to Mohlu, the boss gear vendor)

@@CainTheShield , I also got a bug, in Skyrest Bridge there's no soundtrack after last patch. Did you encounter this problem?

Lords of the Fallen dropped a winter event a few days ago. Among the event content were 3 quests for new armor sets. The rhogar armor set had this Boss fight as the final challenge.

True. For other bosses one charged heavy attack would take of a significant amount of HP. This guy? Chip damage. And loads of poise. But damn was the fight fun. I wish I could effectively re-fight him to trully learn the whole moveset.

I'm about to end the game for a 4th time. Each time doing dif questlines lol. At dis point am just speedrunning from boss to boss in ng+1😂 I read somewhere dis boss was a Christmas event only? Or where do I pick up the quest line? If I'm not onit alrdy.

I stopped Leveling at Lv. 320. Stat distribution is mostly strenght and Vitality. Some levels into Radiance as well, as it has some influence on the weakening effect I think? I would say this was easily the hardest fight in the game. (I haven't done the umbral ending yet, so no clue if Elianne the Starved will give me more trouble) It wasn't really a technical marvel, as the general boss moveset is quite limited (it's fun but basic). I'd argue bosses like Dervla and Light Reaper had some more fun tools at their disposal to fend off against. One thing to say though, is that this boss has an enormous amount of health. I couldn't quite believe my eyes how little chip damage I was dealing. haha.

@@CainTheShield lol soft cap 75 for all stats but vit and endurance but no lvl cap really I'm looking forward to this fight tho nice build man its nice to see something other than pita bread and lightning.

@@kurejiakuma That's true. But while the initial stat benefit doesn't increase at some point, damage negation does keep increasing. You should have seen my face when I saw that stats can go beyond 99. haha. As for all the bells and whistles in form of lightning and more: that's not really my thing. I like big weapons hitting hard. All the way back to Monster Hunter as a great sword main. xD

Brilliant! I started with the faithful hammer switched to full iron wayfair set up sitting at 207 but I use mana regain runes on the shield and ring cast healing aura it doesn't turn off lol and it keeps refilling from use of spells, I like how they have kept me working on it for a the community I pre ordered it started opening night when it was hard and broken but more fun for me lol

@@kurejiakuma I might respec and try that out for a bit when I start NG+ later next year. I actually also sorta enjoyed the flail you have to use for one of the 3 event quests. It might be fun to beat the bosses with some other weapon setups and builds.

They didn’t have to go all out for an npc boss, but BOY AM I GLAD THEY DID

@@spencerbeck8227 I absolutely agree. I was quite disappointed in some of the bosses in the base game in terms of difficulty, but this boss really showed what it is all about. it was hard, but fair. A though fight to beat for sure. it took me some hours and I still only managed to beat it by toughing it out at the end and having raised my level by quite a bit before the event. The devs are saying they are here to stay and support the game for quite some time to come, so I am looking forward to seeing even more future boss fights for possible events.

It's pretty cool isn't it? Easily among my top 3 encounters in this game. haha. This boss should have been in the game from day one. It's too good to be a plain event boss.

I don't even want to imagine how tough that will be. I never left NG. The boss already has this much HP. . . imagine the stat bloat on NG+3. But share away. I'd love to see ya beat it on NG+3 for sure.

I did this in NG+ and it wasnt that bad tbh. Did it second try after having not played for a few weeks.

It certainly was. Harder than most other bosses in the game. Which is pretty funny, considering this is a boss fight for a christmas event. haha.
