    I don't do board games biut this seems so impossibly complex that I am in awe that you have figured all this out. I have no idea how one remotely learns these games.

      Most hex and counter games are based on a set of concepts that transfer between titles. Still not easy to learn many of them though. Salerno isn't a beginners game by any definition and id suggest trying something simpler first. There's a video on the channel with some recommendations if you are interested

    I played the latest game in the series - Bring out your men, gentlemen - Brawners farm) over the weekend and about half way through a light bulb went on in my head. This might be something that applies just to me or might help others with this system. I had been suffering from information overload, so many choices - I play solo - and the game was a bit of a slog (the same as with the others in the series) and then I realised I was playing the system/rules and not the situation on the board. In effect I was trying to make decisions based on the all the cards rather than looking at what was going on. What it boiled down to is that there is little choice in the random events, you pick a card usually on how agressive you want to be and you get two or three more random ones. However when it comes to leaders, you have to look at the board and the situation, do you need to manouvre, attack or defend/regroup, whichever is the case you pick that card. after that , like golf, you play it as it lies trying to make the best of when it is drawn. About the only other real decision is whether to prolong firefights, but that is reall a straightforward tactical choice. I have found by simplifying my command decisions it frees up the real heart of the game the tactical choices on the map. Hope this helps and maybe persuades people to try out this great system, which has great potential moving forward.

    I just finished my first game of Lamps where basically everything that could go wrong for CP did... T1 4 out of 5 attacks into Belgium failed (including re-rolls), then all Allied attacks succeeded and they took Hannover T3 and Berlin T4, with no chance to take it back (7 Fresh armies where GE+AH could only attack with 7 combined on their turns)...

    • @DiagonalMove
      @DiagonalMove Месяц назад

      Ouch, that's rough. Something similar happened on one of my 2 player games. CP stormed Belgium and the Somme on T1; U-Boats, East Africa, East Asia Fleet reduced British production then in summer 1915 CP rolled into Paris and game over. It seems to be the way the game goes sometimes

      @@DiagonalMove Yeah, sounds like a swing in the other direction😁 But from a probability perspective it should be rare, which should give tbis game a good replay value in a decent time. For me it's a keeper🙂

      Yeah it's a keeper for me too. I've been editing the next couple of videos and it struck me just how many decisions there are in what seems like a swingy dice game the first time you play. Thanks for watching

    Thank you for putting this together, it is one of those games (now series) that sort of make yopu reread each piece of the rules a couple of times because there a a lot of new concepts. I found this was especially true of the combat charts, with its multi step resolution, but once you have done it a few times it does become more straightforward. There are a lot of decisions to be made in what is a deceptively small game, which cards to add to the deck, when to hold , when to play etc, all of which adds to the immersion and plays really well solo - you cannot predict the draw. Just have to phych up to put A Most fearful sacrifice onto the table.

    28:41 - are you sure that vehicle type units can't cross the rivers? Rules below. 5.5 Effects of Rivers on Movement: • Infantry Type units(2.3.3) pay +1 MP to cross an unbridged river hexside. • Vehicle Type units may only cross unbridged River hexsides (during a non-Rain turn-see 22.4) if they start adjacent to the hexside, use Tactical Movement, and their first hex of movement is to cross. Such units are handicapped after crossing-place a ½ Eff marker on the unit or stack (5.7).

    Around the 11 minute mark where you are explaining arability I think there's an error. Each territory with a family (including the canyon) has an arability of 3. This is reduced by one per drought marker in the territory. So even with two droughts there is still one arability there

    I am confused at around 39:00 minutes in. You are in combat with a damaged enemy plane, and you draw an enemy flak. You then chose to rally, but the rules indicate you do not get to attack when you rally, so the enemy gets to attack, once by air and once from the flak, during the turn that you rallied in. The enemy gets the +2 focus during that turn. And then the next turn occurs, with the usual determination of initiative. Am I correct in that you seemed to combine two turns into one, missing one of the opportunities for the enemy attack to take place? In either event, I enjoyed watching your video! Thank you for providing it.

    This is very helpful. I've had this game for about 6 months and experienced the same problems you discussed in the beginning of the video. Would love to see more BCS content--seems like a great game and extremely unique.
