Am I true to my self or my oath? I've fought for what I thought was right throughout this war, thinking it to be divine. Now I see myself in a foreign world where I am at last faced with this question. I might break my oath and leave the only life I've known, or go on as someone who has disgraced what they stood for but stayed true to themselves. I may be an oath-breaker, but at least I've found identity in it. My identity is now that I no longer follow my oath. My identity is my ability to come out as myself when I am faced with a dilemma like this. I may still identify with my brothers under my oath, but I can identify myself separately. To me that is a reward, to others it is scoffed at. Uniqueness is naturally frowned upon as conformity is accepted. I've bound from my oath, breaking from those bonds that have held me for years past and creating new ones in my own image. Is this clarity or foolishness? All my life I've fought for what I thought to be right, when now I have doubts in what those battles were founded upon. Now I face what there is to pay for my disobedience. Was it truly worth it?
