I got these headphones new and I loved them so much the headband broke after about 18 months. Of course you can replace it with all kinds of other headbands but then you realise the headband forms the seal going into the cup. Therefore your bass is bloated in sound. You can fix this by sealing it with hot glue at the entry holes but that falls away after some time. So, I have kept the cans stored up until I get around to implementing a different solution. They are such extraordinary headphones and a thrill to listen to.

The AKG K553 MKII’s are great mixing headphones. That’s what they’re designed for, not casual listening. Put on some Zeppelin or Def Leppard, crank it up and then tell me what you think of the bass. They don’t get muddy, they maintain definition and clarity. The reviewer never stated his intended use for either pair of headphones. The use is everything when deciding what headphones to buy. Which is it? Casual listening, mixing, monitoring, or recording? That makes a world of difference!

SEE other comments here as to why the device cable is not technically proprietary. I have seen them online from 3rd parties, IF you need the USB-C or lightening version you may have to go to IK multimeida or Sweetwater. This would insure it has the correct pin config for midi use. They come in several lengths. In any case...have an extra in your gig bag, because the nearest music shop may not have any in stock.

i use that keyboard for a full band you can do 2 splits and 2 layer only and save the edit patch on those number 0-9 amazing right? you can just press the numbers no delay to change your patch on each song

I have both and can tell the tweeter is noticeably clearer but the bass isn’t as strong on the mkii vs LSR at lower volume. That means you can turn up the mkii more without distortion. Just my non-pro opinion. The woofer surround is a little different on the mkii being softer vs the lsr which is more stiff.
