Finally (some) snow to clear. #dirtandstonelandscaping
Finally (some) snow to move. Early morning, before the homeowner leaves for work. Enough to use the Toro 828 to get the majority of the driveway, then use the snowplow pusher to scrape and finish the rest. I call it blow and scrape, where we leave little to melt and less to refreeze (the homeowner doesn't want salt). Yes, I was wearing shorts. #dirtandstonelandscaping #snow #snowshovel #snowremoval #snowblower #toro828snowblower #thesnowplowshovel#winterwork #snowplowshovel #drivewaysnowremoval

maruyama has something like this on their backpack blowers and there's a number of battery electric blowers with this design. personally I think it's just a gimmick but to each their own.
@@benjaminleslie3155 yeah, shopping carts were called gimmicks too. So which blower did you use with this attachment on it and saw no difference? Not everything can be captured on video to prove everything to everybody. Some can see because they have been in a similar situation, but to each their own opinion.
@@dirtandstonelandscaping8801 buddy I said it was just my opinion. no need to get upset about it.
@@benjaminleslie3155 actually you didn't say opinion until I replied. Buddy because someone replies to your comment against you not having trymied something, but calling it a gimmick, then replying that it's your opinion, doesn't mean they are upset. You do sound like a SC. Where is your video showing blower tube modifications are a gimmick?
Is it hollow?
@@bidders77 yes it is. There are openings at the end that attach to the OEM tube, as forced air passes between the tubes, air is drawn in to help move more debris. I'm going to do a review after my fall cleanups.
Enjoyed th cut.
Doesn’t look like it helps.
@@graphicsdude yeah, I was hoping for more of a dramatic difference at the beginning. The tube aids in being more efficient with a small blower but it's not as dramatic when filming.
I want to try it on my ryobi battery powered blower. It has always felt a little under powered.
@@kgoldric the gentleman that created this tube made it for the smaller leaf blowers of any brand or type, as long as the blower has a four inch or smaller tube. The video wasn't as dramatic as I hoped. After my fall cleanups I was going to do a review.
@dirtandstonelandscaping8801 it's cheaper than buying a second battery for my blower so if the extra air helps me get the yard done with one battery it pays for itself. For your next video do a ball test where you take a plastic ball and see how high it blows up in the air, its surprisingly easy to ballance a ball on a leaf blower. You should be able to measure the hight or do a side by side pic. If it works as advertised I would expect to see the ball much higher with the attachment on it. I have a venturi effect shower head in my RV, and I know that works really well on adding extra water pressure so I see no reason this wouldn't work too.
@@kgoldric I wouldn't go as far as saying this tube will mean you don't need another battery or bigger battery, (every yard is different). That test does sound good, I have something else in mind if I have time while on a job site to show a comparison. I'm not a product tester or promoter, I just see stuff that helps me and spread the knowledge.
Where can I buy one?
@@Mrimpact2011 The mini skid from any Ditch Witch dealer that carries the mini skid line. The brush mower was a third party build that Toro put their logo on, but since this video the brush mowers available for most mini skids have improved performance and have different options to choose.... third party attachment companies are better then name brand.
You mentioned the argument of using the trimmer vertical as an edger. While that's what I do as it's all I have (that's why I'm here haha) they are different tools for different parts of the job.The edger is used to set the edge and clean it up every few months and the trimmer is then for trimming it regularly. You can use the trimmer to do that too but it takes time more effort since the string wasn't designed for digging dirt like a blade.
@@allanmowz Ran a crew for another company and the trimmer guy hit people with debris from using it as an edger, (1. He should have watched for people around him. 2. Insurance companies aren't happy when you file a claim for something that is avoidable.) Not an argument just pointing out I don't like using the trimmer like that. Also for a few hundred dollars people can get the rotary blade head to trim and edge reducing flying debris. If you only have a trimmer, then that's how you work. I'd rather reduce the chance of injury from past experience and showing attachments that are available and if it was a good purchase or not.

@@brycewilcox1327 This was a customer's property. Using the dethatcher to remove the dead grass before spreading grass seed.

If you find yourself in need of dethatching, you can use the dethatcher attachment for the yardboss on the kombi powersweep or cultivator gearbox.
Sounds like it's vapor locking. I have never experienced the cutting issue with my Timemaster 30. Toro introduced a foam filter inside the gas tank in order to stop vapor locking in previous models. I currently have the 21199 HD model and have been using it for 3 yrs no issues. Last month my blade engagment cable broke and while I was replacing it I noticed the main belt cracking and replaced that. When I did put the new belt on it gained more power to the blades but I should have replaced the pulleys because 2 days later one of the pulleys broke off. Ordered replacements and new timing belt because over time these belts stretch. I am glad someone can afford to buy a $3000.00 walk behind but I had to settle with what was in my budget. Got my timing belt in todays so tomorrow I will put everything together. Shapening the blades will give you a good cut, also if you are trying to bag with mulching blades then yeah you will leave stragglers. There are aftermarket blades for the Toro 30 inch that are hi lift. I agree the Ferris FW15 has a bizzare bagging system but honestly I don't think they were going for that but more discharge and mulching. I stopped mulching a few yrs back because it's more work thatching and I find bagging helps eliminate weeds especially if you don't use weed killers.
@@mrgreen2769 The 30" time master I had came with the updated 10hp engine which had the foam fuel filter insert. I had used the mulch/bag/discharge blades since customers wanted either to mulch or bag (customers choice) blades with regular sharpening lasted one season in my area. With the rear wheel housing and transmission needing replacement, because of the bigger bag we used led us to go with a machine that has a frame to handle a bigger bagger. The video wasn't to put down a model or brand, plus as stated it was what I experienced where and what I was mowing. Where and what you mow are never exactly the same, this video is for anyone buying a used machine from the same year or a reference to see changes to newer model years.
@@dirtandstonelandscaping8801 the 21199 HD comes with the Heavy Duty transmission. The previous models with the bigger engine did not have the HD transmission and has been problematic for some. I have over 2300 hours on my 21199 with no issues bagging sopping wet grass especially going on inclines. Don't get me wrong, if I had the money I would definately try the Skagg 30 inch but from what I am hearing is the Kohler engines are having issues especially on the Toro Turfmaster out in the heat. Both Skagg and Timemaster have close to the same bag size. After a time on the Toros Timemaster the belts stretch which caused the blades to not get full power. I just replaced my timing belt today and holding the old belt up to the new you can see the difference. In performance the blades retained their high rmp and allowed for full torque. If your Timemaster seems to drag when engaging the blades or does it mowing it is likely the blade engagement cable tension needs adjusted or the belts are wearing. I get major compliments on my Toros cut vrs those expensive crews using expensive zero turns. The heavy duty transmission has incredible power I just love it.
@@mrgreen2769 At the time and model of my timemaster from New and in reviews at the time missing blades of grass was a common review point which I saw even when new and reported from commercial 30 inch mowers from exmark and Toro at the time. When it came time for me to rebuild or replace, because of the lack of parts available and the fact that I was using a larger than stock bagging system. The transmission and housing would wear out again and I couldn't wait weeks for parts during the spring growing rush. I'm glad they continue to improve the model it's a great machine and that you compete on quality. If I didn't choose to use a bigger bag on the timemaster I probably would have gotten more years out of it, but in my situation I had to choose. I'm not putting the timemaster down. I'm just explaining what led me to buying the scag 30 and reviewing what I experienced with it, for others to look out for when making a purchase for this model year and compare it to newer models. Yes, parts wearing out due make machines run bad, but you are running a newer model timemaster then what I had and they have improved it since the one I was running.
Great review! I'm plan on picking one up with the casters for work. FYI- They have pins on the casters that can switch positions from swivel to lock, so you can mow slopes. We have some slopes, so that will come in handy for us. For your starting issue, I think it may be carburetor related. If it's been that way from the beginning, I think it could be the float is out of adjustment from the factory. This one also doesn't have a fuel filter, so debris could be collecting in the fuel bowl (I've dealt with that issue on another mower). Thanks again for the review!
@@christopherthompson3313 Since I filmed this I used VP racing fuel's Fix-it fuel, some gray smoke at first and it has been starting fine. The first run of new models are always rough with problems. But for anyone looking at buying a used mower of the same year as a reference, plus a comparison to newer models for making smart decisions.
You legitimately just solved my huuuuuuuuge issue on my land. I had no idea this machine existed but it is exactly what I need! Love the video!
where can i rent these machines?
United Rent-All is a good place to start. Or just google "yard machine rentals near me".
Good points at 75 hours I'm starting to have issues with starting
Since I filmed this, I poured 1/4 of a bottle of VP racing fuel's Fix-it fuel in the gas tank and so far, (knock on wood) one pull to start.
When buying a combi, I opted for the Husqvarna 535LK, excellent machine, but the attachments have got progressively more expensive. The brush is now £500! The weed scissors this year, are now £479. As a sole trader, I am now priced out of the market!!! Great equipment, but far too expensive now for me!!😢
What is the total length of this setup? I am looking to buy a trailer and just curious if a 12' trailer would be sufficient.
I've never measured the length correctly, but I'd say roughly 9'. Going by the 6' ramp on my trailer the tractor with just the bagger on is longer than the ramp and add the rake off the front, if you can get 7' wide or wider.
Good honest review,thsnk you
you're probably losing prime. I'd try not to let it run out. If you shut the engine as soon as you feel it is getting low or running out of gas, that should help.
I tried VP Fix-it fuel after filming this and so far it starts one pull.

What about fallen branches and sticks? Will it handle them or you need to pre-clean the path first?
The mower unit in the video can handle some branches and some sticks, tall meadow grass and 4 foot or shorter shrubs and trees is this unit's happy working environment. But sometimes pre-cleaning the path is needed. Here are some reasons. The standard blade has little lift because it is a flat piece of steel with sharp edges, so unlike a lawnmower blade that helps lift the grass up when you mow, this blade just cuts whatever is higher than the blade height. Aftermarket blades change how the machine reacts and is your choice to fit the machine with different parts. How dense or soft are the sticks or branches for the blade to cut through, this unit doesn't mulch dense or thick wood pieces. Thickness of the branches, the unit can cut down 2"-3" diameter wood per the manufacturer. If someone would make a true brush mulcher in this size I would have one.
I wish I could find a de thatcher like this for my John Deere D130!
Depending on the weight limit of the front suspension and if you can mount an attachment bar to the front of your D130, JRCO makes universal front rakes I have one my turf tracer 36".

Can you please do a video on the cultivator? Im thinking about getting it but i dont know how well it does/digs on a lawn with dirt and grass(like its hard) and just generally if its good and works well
That's a good video idea, need time I use the cultivator I'll make a video, but I did a belief video using the cultivator with the KMA battery power head, breaking up dirt clogs before spreading grass seed. To answer how well it does, hard soil, you have to really push against the machine to start digging, since the tines have little weight over them. If you turn the hard soil over with a spade fork or shovel then use the cultivator, it can dig and fluff the soil. It's best for vegetable gardens, seasonal color planting areas or areas that are not hard or compacted. Old gym weights with the center holes could improve the digging by getting weight over the tines to dig better, but the downside is the added weight to carry around.
Hello, nice video. im just a kid starting a small business, but for what i know, maybe change the edger blade( i cant see correctly like if its time to change it now but looks used), i changed mine not so long ago, and didnt even think about how necassary it was to change it, when the edger blade is very small like yours/used alot, its time to change it. and the chain thing on the string trimer, i have heard its very dangerous because no company that you can trust really makes them. Cheers!
Good eyes, yes the edger blade needs to be changed. That's just from using it this spring. The chain brush attachment, I assume the risk and use it as safely as possible, (facing away from buildings and people). It throws debris around as much as other brush cutter blades or just a regular string trimmer in the wrong hands, (Like those people that side discharge lawn clippings into the road as cars drive by).
It would have been helpful if you had left a couple rows then mowed them later in the day when the grass was dry. That would have given your viewers a side by side comparison. Just a thought.
Good idea for another video! This video was filmed at a customer's property and we didn't want to cut part of it, then leave and come back later and finish cutting. It was just the small fenced area with tall wet grass where grass clumps are common to happen when waiting for the grass to dry is not an option, and not many videos show mower blades in situations like this.
I’m curious if this worked in removing the grass
Completely removed it, no. Little spouts grew up, but those were easy to pull out by hand.
Stupid people want like 500 bucks for ones off old rear engine jds

How long does the battery last??
Depends on the attachment, string trimmer for me 1.5 - 2 days, tiller or power broom 30 - 40 minutes. 1,500 - 2,000 charging cycles per manufacturer is the life of the battery. Results may vary. These batteries do fail if left in a vehicle or trailer in cold weather, don't overheat or leave out in the sun.
I have the FSA135 over 2 years, not like this one but in the bicycle handle configuration, have used it very heavy never have a problem. In regard to battery it depends a lot on the user and what battery he is using. I have used mine with all batteries from AP200 to AP500S however I think the better balanced is the AP300S. I may got 30 to 40 minutes with AP300S but sense I have about 10 batteries I really never pay much attention to the time.
I may have used mine FSA135 in bicycle handle configuration beyond manufacturing recommendations and with all kind blades never have any problem. The weed line I may use it 20 minutes in one all year, very much mine I use it to cut and clear in forests heavy brush and tall grass. I am 100% happy with my FSA135 performance wish I can say the same with batteries, I have 4 AP500S batteries and 4 AP300S and I go one battery after another no problem with this machine. But to answer your question, battery technology still light years away for professional use. With AP300S something around 30 to 40 minutes.
Get ready
