I’m glad Fr David mentioned Covid, because that was when we found his church. We were already Orthodox, but they all closed in WA. We moved out of WA now, but we’re so happy we met him and the parish community.

Idk if it's appropriate to say that prayer without fasting is of the devil. Both are goods, and there's no way to determine or prove the degree of absence of the one that would result in the corruption of the other. The only statement you could make with any amount of certainty about what amount of fasting is impermissible is "none at all." Saying prayer without fasting is evil is tantamount to saying exercising without dieting is not just less effective but outright pernicious, which is absurd.

This is my first orthochat episode and I’m hooked. I’m attending Father Gregory’s seeker classes and a day doesn’t go by where I am not astounded at how real and powerful Orthodoxy is compared to the Protestantism I’ve lived with my whole life. God is good!

Father Gregory is why I’m now Orthodox. I was a lost miserable soul. I saw RUclips videos on orthodoxy and said I think this is it. I reached out to Father Gregory and he said come visit us. I finally visited the church and became a catechumen that day and was baptized by Fr. Gregory. I recently moved away to another state. Seeing this video brought tears to my eyes. I miss this amazing spiritual father and the amazing people of my former church

This was a wonderful conversation. It gave me so much to reflect on and work into my own life. I love Fr. David. Here in Western, we have a close community where our parishes are a close family. His church St. Andrew, mine St. Thomas w/ Fr. David Sommer and St. Paul w/ Fr. Jeremiah. It's a blessing. We had a few families move to Idaho and are now in Fr. Gregory's parish and another family will be moving there next year. Thank you for bringing them on.
