The Hunts Men
Добавлен 25 окт 2006
Originally, This channel was created to showcase some real Aussie hunting. During 2021 and beyond I will be adding some fishing videos to the channel.
Video's will focus on representing Australian hunting in a good light and promoting the much loved sport.
Short clips will show rifle and bow hunting on all game species in Australia and New Zealand.
Fishing wise I will create content on The Australian east coast, from tuna, kingfish, mulloway to fly fishing for trout.
If you do not like hunting or fishing, you do not have the right to complain about these clips or videos. You forfeited that right when you took your extreme tree hugging stance. So please do not watch the videos.

Hawkesbury Jewfish Hectic Plastics session
A recent trip on the Hawkesbury river, chasing Jewfish on soft plastics.
My best daytime trip with 40 jewfish and a dozen tailor.
Here is some of the clips from the day stitched together. Not a fancy edit, but hope you get something out of it.
Biggest jewfish was 71cm

Fishing out of the Hawkesbury river for snapper. Fishing between barrenjoey and long reef. On the way out I run into heaps of longtail tuna jumping, but can’t get a hookup.
2024 NZ Red Stag Hunt
Просмотров 9 тыс.8 месяцев назад
Hunting in the South Island of New Zealand. I get lucky finding a few roaring stags during the rut. Some of the best red deer hunting you can get. From calling in deer to 10m, to taking big old stags. Footage is just some small stitched together clips off my phone. Not meant to be a production.
Hawkesbury Jewfish - Twilight Flick

Just a quick weekly sort of video of a method I use when I come in from offshore to find and catch jewfish. I’ll wait until later in the day, most of the boats have left the system. I will sound along the shoreline, just using high chirp and side scan. Looking for bait and schools of Jewfish (mulloway). The Hawksberry has huge numbers of these fish, and they are simple to find once you know how...

I have just started fishing for snapper, I’m still learning what to do. But in this video we head out of the hawksberry to a local Sydney reef in search of snapper. We use pilchards for burley and bait. I hook up a 74cm snapper, which is my Pb as I’ve only chased them for about 1 month now. The setup I’m using is a 5000 shimano Saragosa, the rod is a diawa saltwater 7ft, PE4. Using 30lb braid a...

Here is a clip of my recent New Zealand red deer hunt. In the clip I am stalking red deer during the roar. I am using a Paladin33 AMR heavy hunting rig to carry my rifle. Shooting a sako Finnlight 85 in 7mm rem mag. I find a nice red stag to take for a mount.

I have been fishing the Hawkesbury river my local system with the kids and teaching my son, how to catch Jewfish. He has done well on bait and more recently plastics and jigs. With loads of schools of jewfish in the system now that summer has started I decided to target some and get Jake a Jewfish on Vibes. Here is a quick litte clip of the process.

In this video my son catches his first jewfish on soft plastics and then shortly after one jigging. His 48cm hawksberry jewfish or mulloway was on a Samaki Boom Bait 5 inch soft plastic. Using a 3/8’s 7/0 TT jig head. Rod is just a kids rod, spooled in 6lb mono. These fish was caught in Cowan Creek, which is part of the hawksberry river. The jewfish are through this system, berowra waters and a...
2022 Big Hawkesbury Jewfish (Mulloway)

In this video I finally finish my goal of catching a legal jewfish on soft plastics. Over the last year I have caught around 80 smaller fish. Which led me to search different areas and in different depths. I hooked this 94cm hawksberry jewfish or mulloway on a keitech soft plastic in gold flash colour 4.8 inches long. Using a 3/8’s 7/0 TT jig head. Rod is just a Diawa 702mhfs aird and reel a Di...

Hunting fallow bucks during the 2022 rut. The croak was only just starting. Over the course of 4 days we took 7 fallow, but only two bucks as we saw lots of smaller bucks, but the big boys gave us the slip. This year I am hunting in NSW, Australia.

Love seeing the next generation get so pumped. Awesome stuff.
Nice jake
Nice work. Btw - a jacket over the top of the inflatable lifejacket is a new one
Blind as well as dumb we see
You guys want to learn to (NOT) use Rude language.
It’s set not for kids, best I can do as I don’t care. Not and issue where I come from.
Still appreciate the comment though, I can try to edit in future if I have the time.
Looks like Akuna bay
nah, just in the main part of cowan creek. Not Akuna, although you get them in there too. Just need to find the bait and you find the fish, not really any spot.
What did he tape out at mate?
Not sure mate, the head is still at the taxi. Symmetry was why I loved this head, he wasn’t super long.
@@dhfactory nice mate, who does your mounts?
@@Gavin_McGregor I use a different taxi each time as it’s a good way to variation in the collection. This one is with The Taxidermist near Queenstown.
Muzzle brake in the bush, geez you’re keen! 😂
9 stags???😐
Yeah 9 stags and a hind for camp meat. 6 hunters in my group. I've been hunting there for 12 years and never seen so many deer, I think covid has helped the numbers explode.
@@dhfactory oh yeah fair enough!
Well done mate, I miss your adventures with Matt. I’m sure he’s watching over you ⛰️🦌🙌
Waste of bloody meat, if you aint going to eat it do t shoot it, idiots😮
They get bigger for sure, but that's a nice bull...congratulations!
Yeah for sure, but I don't think this bloke was getting bigger. he was bashed up and probably going to head backwards.
Loser
You pose like you have done something big
Thats how you get photos when your by yourself. Film a video, get different angles and then screenshot later.
Боже и не жалко оленя
they are breeding up there mate if they are doing circles, similar to middle harbour
Nah not doing circles like that. They just do a big lap around the system smashing the bait in the morning. They keep regular timings.
@@dhfactory tow a live squid around the restaurant as big as you can get, there are some big residents there
Thanks, I'll give it a try @@dillberry99
Can you please drop coordinates for this long mile reef
It’s just longreef in Sydney. There is no mile in the name. No particular marks you anything. The snapper are all over the place there.
Good fish! Well done
Awesome
How long was the travel from Apple tree to long reef?
It'a about 40km, so maybe an hour. But we usually stop at a couple of spots along the way. It's quicker to go from Roseville ramp, when I'm only heading to long reef. But I managed 20knots offshore on this day, so not too bad.
You can launch at fisherman’s beach and head straight out from there but you have to know what you’re doing
@@tommyh500 yeah. Not a great launch. I tend to use Roseville ramp if only targeting long reef. I often have a few species on the list, so fall back to the hawksberry or other spots for jew on the way home.
@@dhfactory definitely more sensible.
How deep was the water
We were in really close. Around 15m. We bagged out on this day, with 5 others over 50cm. The bite seemed to last all day, but I think that was helped by it being overcast.
It is just a red deer, not a wapiti at all. Wapiti or bull elk are in the states.
Rocky Mountain elk (Cervus canadensis nelsoni) or wapiti subspecies were first introduced to the remote south west corner of New Zealand's South Island in 1909. The small herd of 20 animals was a gift from U.S President Teddy Roosevelt.
Soild stag bro, good to see nz putting it on again 🙏
If you can see past 50m in the bush it's not "tight bush" , hunt the scrub in the north island you'll only see 5m in front of you lol, Nice stag.
Yeah agreed. Not sure why I used the word tight, was just more pointing out that it looks further than it is in there.
I'm a Kiwi & that doesn't look like NZ vegetation to me. Those trees are the giveaway.
This is in Otago, NZ. Not sure where you are from but maybe just jump over to my Insta if you want other photos and videos from my trips.
Do the trees not look like this in Auckland city? This is just a beach forest lol
its beach forest wow ur dumb
This is very clearly NZ vegetation. Go outside.
Great stag mate.... just curious but when did the trend start with carrying strapped rifles on the back through deer country - what no good stag not going to pop out at anytime?
Just over 10 years ago now. The business was called Paladin then, run by a very good friend of mine. He passed away a few years ago. The rifle comes off the rig as quick as you want it to, so I’ve had zero issues missing deer. The freedom of movement it gives you is a clear advantage in my opinion. I spend all my time glassing and zero time holding my rifle on a sling. The business is still running in the USA now, as another friend kept it going and rebranded it Paladin33.
Hi it’s me Riley jakes friend
hey Riley, Need to go for a fish sometime. I can take you to the same spot.
are you wearing a SITKA jacket? - if not what brand?
It’s a KUIU jacket mate.
Fantastic catches Jake and dad you seem pretty stoked as well!
Nice work mate and bloody nice Jewie.
Soundtrack is hilarious
Mate I live watching this kind of video please make your videos longer
Great bull dolphin fish mate !
How far up the creek were you - looks very quiet so I assume quite west?
Just in Cowan creek. I launch at apple tree bay. I tend to get the jewfish anywhere in there after I pass the 4 knot zone. Also up akuna bay and smiths creek. You get them all through there, depends on the day and where they are at the time. I generally pick the smaller schools up on side scan. But the bigger fish from casting along shorelines and into bait/under bait. The 90cm king was near Waratah bay in the early morning as I slept on the boat. Just find things on your sounder and throw plastics at them. You’d be surprised what you will catch in there.
@@dhfactory god to know - we come from Brooklyn and seldom get that far down but Smith's Creek is a favourite for an overnighter.
Good to see plenty of juvenile Jew in the system
Yeah, I never realised how many there were until I started throwing plastics. Now I avoid them when I see them, looking for bigger models.
Good stuff fellas, is this in NSW or Victoria?
This is NSW
Great to see the young fella in there amongst it, hands on too. Well done fellas.
where are you hunting? State?
On a private property near Tamworth, NSW. With NZ off the table it was the best option this year.
Hi.whats the name of this stream? Tnx
Do you only take the rack?? What of the meat?
I didn't take any meat off this one, we already had 4 other bucks and had a lot of meat from them. This trip was strictly a trophy hunting trip. I mainly hunt sambar, or reds for eating meat. I'm actually not a fan of fallow meat.
Nice buck man
Great video ! I'm a huge fan !!!
I was hoping you were going to put out a movie edit, well done mate 🦌🦌! Cheers Marty
I just don't have the camera skills these days. Trying to pick it back up again and take it with me for future hunts.
Nice work thanks for the video
Nice one Sean 👌
Done right bro
Done right bro
You were one of a kind Matt. I only knew you a short time but I liked you a lot. RIP mate 🇦🇺
Lol earmuffs 🤣, nice vid though👍🏻
I have this block next year for first period.I like the look of madmans steam.Where did you guys land? and long did it take you to get up on the tops from madmans stream? Was there many animals in the main stillwater river?
Most of the animals were on the tops/ saddle above madman’s stream. There was one other bull on the lake in madman’s stream, but other than that it was a little quiet around actually in the stream. Plenty of animals along the river flats and surrounds on the Stillwater. We actually landed on the tops further to the south and walked across the whole block, but I wouldn’t recommend that to anyone, it was a huge mission.
@@dhfactory thanks for that.there are 6 in our party. The other 5 are likely to get dropped
Off on the tops.so I think I will travel the stillwater stream and head up to madmans
