This clock was sold to the French market before returning to Germany and now resides in my own privet collection. This is a very high quality REPLICA of a Medieval clock from between the 14th & 15th century. Buco Swiss manufactured these around the 60's, 70's & into the 80's I believe. It runs very quiet, unlike some that tick rather loudly this one could easily be placed in a bedroom. It runs as soon as the weights hang without issue. I believe the company stopped manufacturing around 1988. I can say that...

Sold this one long ago. Thanks for commenting.
Tip: Collapse your audio down to mono before posting if you have that ability. Makes listening easier for a lot of people.
Todos los péndulos tienen dos movimientos, eso ya es muy aburrido, ¿no hay péndulos de tres movimientos?
Hey, I've really enjoyed this very informative video as it goes along way towards explaining why some of my clocks can't be put in beat by moving the case alone! Thanks for the time you've spent to post it. Rex
How do ibuy it
Thank you for leaving the cat in the video. It's nice to know I am not the only one that has to deal with an overly zealous helper constantly demanding to be the center of attention. :)
Thanks for the comment and yes center of attention for sure! She has turned into my shop supervisor LOL.
This is a fascinating peek into something that is visually daunting for the uninitiated. It makes wristwatches seem a little tame. I had no idea how the clocks made sounds like the cuckoo! Thanks so much for posting this and sharing the mysteries with us!
Absolutely Beautiful!.... Thank you so much Jim for this...
FYI, Cuckooland has been sold, purchased by the Museum of Time located in Waterford city Ireland. Grand opening of the Cuckoo clock collection will be early summer 2025.
Love it. Thanks for sharing this
Hola tengo uno de estos en argentina ,lo quiero vender
Hi Jim, my friend just picked up a very similar clock from goodwill. They said it’s a Romba Hohenzollern Black Forest clock. It says “Annon 1640” on it. I think I understand how it works and have replaced the thread so the flags hit the pins but do I need to tie it like this one here? Also can you advise me on the weights for each side. It came with the top weights but nothing for the cord. Thank you SO much.
R.I.P Roman , and thank you and your brother for all the help you gave to me , when I was collecting these clocks
16:34 i love this one
¡Total beautiful!! Saludos
Ah, so youre not in England. Pity
How easy is it to acquire trumpeter clocks? Only place I can think of is Furtwangen Fair twice a year
Are you in England? I have a 4 tune wall cuckoo whose music is now too fast as is cuckoo call. On one tune it was sticking and so I put on a heavier weight. Clapper for gong too loud, so soft leather might sort that. Would you be able to fix all these? Thanks Gaius
Purdy girl !
Stupendous strident gong and low pitched, unhurried cuckoo call
Love that nice gong to
I liked your video on bushing repair, you could make a video explaining how you center the hole where the bushing is placed. I would like to learn how to do it but the videos I have seen are always taken from a distance and it is not appreciated. At work I don't understand the English language but if I see how you do it I will be able to follow your advice. Greetings
Yes centering is important especially when the original hole is worn in one direction. Always a good idea to file the opposite side of the hole equal to the worn side so the cutter stays centered. When using a bushing machine it is less likely the bit will cut off center if that makes sense. In this video I was drilling from the side with less wear placing the pointer bit slowly up and down into the hole and re positioning the plate until I saw no side to side deflection of the pointer (centering) bit, then lock the plate at that point to drill. I hope this information is helpful to you.
I would love to buy a clock like this! I can’t find a website for you, where do you sell these?
Aha! Justin M, Eat a Peach, ir someone from BF?
From Germany B/F. 👍🏻
@@TheBlackForestClockShop Vague idea who it could be and I sold him a table Beha a few years ago.
Identical case to mine, except mine has a 4-tune music box
Very nice, music is always extra special! I sold this several years ago now.
@TheBlackForestClockShop I see. Ever been to Furtwangen?
@@gaiuscoleman8815 Yes I’ve been several times to Furtwangen. I am currently in Germany and attended the Eisenbach clock fair, toured St Märgen Kloster museum (being it’s amongst my favorite) and the Junghans museum also w/ Heinrich Engelmann’s collection on display. Both are a must see!
Good for you. Did you find the big cuckoo quail there you sold?
@@gaiuscoleman8815In Germany yes but not from Eisenbach, from a dealer I know.
wonderfull collection , but the way the look and play , is work of masters hand
It seems like the 510 is the mantel version of the 361 because they both look similar and have the same movement and gong.
Yes this is true the table version Beha 510 is very similar to the 361, both can be found in several variations from other clock makers as well. They were probably amongst the most popular style at that time and therefore seen more often today.
@@TheBlackForestClockShopBut the 510 has a soft gong strike and the 361 has a really loud gong and a strange reverb.
background music too loud
INCREDIBLE!
Great video again thanks
Excellent Jim! After seeing this I really wouldn't use any other method. It's nice to know that if you are trying to retain some patina, you can go the soap/ammonia route with less scrubbing.
Thanks Jim! I finally used this method today, and the rusty regula chains came out looking great. Not pewter like yours, more copper/light brass. Ordered some T-9, and will coat them when it arrives.
Thanks to this excellent video the old family cuckoo clock is now going again. I have had no experience of fixing clocks and thought that what I had was almost home made (it seems not). I am so pleased I found this video.
I had a H/F ultra sonic cleaner like yours. I literally wore it out. It was amazing for its size. I really enjoyed these videos.
Glad you enjoyed my video, mine is still running but I’ve purchased their 6 Liter unit for grandfather clock movements now. When doing small parts I just bag them in a ziplock baggie w/ cleaner and fill the u/c with water, works like a charm and saves on cleaner. 👍🏻
Loose the music -it’s distracting-un professional. Can’t watch.
Thanks for your input, I completely agree!
I’ve never been to the UK, but if I ever get there, this would be right at the top of places that I would like to visit.
absolute masterclass, wonderful video!!
We used to have one with very heavy chain suspenders shaped like spruce cones. Got damaged while shifting and I've always been wistful about it. This brings back so many fond memories.
Great clock and carving,Kuckuckmeister.
Great video Jim! Is this museum still open?
There is a link in the video description to the Cuckooland Museum so I think it's still operational fren.
I just acquired one and wondering how to start the clock. Can you help me please? 🙏🏻
Hi Jessica, best to go on a clock group on facebook where you can get prompt answers and advice. Here is a link, m.facebook.com/groups/54690673150/?ref=share&mibextid=S66gvF
Yeah thanks for sharing that .. my friend had me clean her attic and she gave me a pretty much identical clock, except for the 1640 piece of wood... All the same... My rocks don't have eyelets tho... Can't wait to set it up... How long does it last on a " wind "?
Wunderbar, What a collection , Kuckuckmeister
Друг. Где кожу покупал? Ищу себе для часов. Не хочу искусственную ткань ставить.
www.columbiaorgan.com
Как я понял это кожа ягненка и она не должна тянуться, при этом быть тонкой. Спасибо.
Yes, just not so thin that it becomes hard to work with.
Where are the gongs???
There is one 10” gong on the inside back plate. Both the hour and monk strike on the same gong.
Interesting I've not seen the tooth straightener before. Thx
Yes it’s not used too often but a great tool when needed. I’ll have one for sale after I finish a wooden case for it but you can find them occasionally on eBay.
Muy buena herramienta y un gran maestro 😊
Gracias por el comentario espero que te haya sido útil.
Thank you for sharing this video. Can you please tell me how much each of the rocks weigh that are on your clock? Thank you.
I no longer have this clock but I believe around 2.5 to 3 lbs. the counter weight (small rock) maybe a few ounces. If you are putting a clock together, just find a stone that will keep the clock working and remember the counter weight will subtract its weight from the larger stone.
Hi James, love your videos on Antique Cuckoo Clock Wooden Movement Repair. I've seen a "FF" mark on a wood plate movement and wondering if you would know what this stands for. I've restored our family Cuckoo which got me hooked. After watching your video I"m planing to use them as my guide to rebuild a wood plate movement, thanks for inspiring me, I'm hoping that understanding what the FF mark stands for will allow me further insight to these amazing old time pieces - thanks in advance, you make a great tutorial.
Sorry for the delay, I'm not sure who the FF would be however there are a few possibilities but none I can confirm. I'll ask around while in Eisenbach this April. Perhaps someone will have the correct answer. Jim
@@TheBlackForestClockShop appreciated thanks
Thanks for this video - good information. Is there an accepted/safe way to straighten escape wheel teeth with hand tools if the Webster isn’t in the budget?
By the age of this video now I’m assuming this click isn’t available for sale? I’ve been looking for one of these for awhile now.
Very nice! I love that bushing machine!
