I'm literally about to replace mine and this video came right on time. Mine is red too lol
Pretty clean underneath for a 2015. Any ideas of mileage.? Just curious
@@jamesguyon8666 I think it had less than 90k on it
Is the belt a part of everything? Reason I’m asking is can I remove it and still drive the truck without power steering?
@@schoolsfunmoments technically yes, but your vehicle will overheat because the water pump will not be circulating coolant and your battery will die because the alternator is not turning.
🎉 ,
Do how did you put it back in? Did you just hammer it back? Is there a certain way to hammer it to prevent mushroom the end
@@derpherpp3 if you're having difficulty lining it up and you do need to hammer it back in put the axle nut down flush with the head of the CV axle and lightly tap it, this will prevent mushrooming of the CV axle head and prevent damaging the threads.
How much should an oil change cost? I hear they are expensive. Do you have to go to specialized technicians?
@@commonsenselogic the price of the oil change greatly depends on the shop and its geographical location. But you definitely don't need a specialized technician, any automotive shop should be able to change your oil
I thought it was easier removing part going underneath without having to remove all the above parts?
@@ncortez179 yes and it is highly recommended to do it that way. However on the 4x4 models you won't be able to do that because the front differential and axles are in the way.
Thanks for the reply...I have the 2016 xlt 4x4 - I will give it a go.
I see transmission fluid at the lip of your flex plate or spacer? Is that because of the starter bolts?
@@Dustinredding no, the customer more than likely has a transmission leak. He also has valve cover gasket leaks which is why his starter failed from the oil dripping down onto his starter. Unfortunately, the customer did not want to undergo any more repairs at this time.
Encore or Enclave? Thanks in advance.
Great vid. Okay, after watching your video im pretty sure some put the wrong axle on my mazda 3..... i cant put the ball joint on no matter what. Its a easy job untill someone put longer axles on it lol.
Life saver ❤
Crazy you need to dismantle the car to replace a $10 bulb. Designed for service dealer revenue... 🤦🏻
@@SahirSiddiqui pretty much
Do you need to have to pulley puller tool?
@@CHODYAllsoup yes, for this vehicle because the power steering pump bolts are behind the pulley. So the pulley has to be removed before the power steering pump can be removed, or else I would just say pull the pump and put it on a press.
On my fronts I used a heavy wall 11/16 impact socket that has a bigger diameter than the lug bolts so I could set in a vice & knock the bolt out.
Fantastic very detailed video. Thank you so much, best one on the internet. I can find.
Good video. Thank you . 👍 👍
Hey man can you help me out here? I have same exact car and a mechanic is telling me they would need to reprogram the ECM to replace the alternator which is the only thing stopping me from doing it myself but I see loads of vids of people changing it without mentioning needing to do so and nothing online says anything about it. Any info is appreciated!
@@juleslataxes2630 is it the same year? Because the only thing that needs to be programmed or modules and a alternator is not a module. So I could always be wrong but I have personally never heard of that before.
I DID IT ! some antifreeze leaking surprized me. Really needed that wobbly 10mm for that lower bolt. I must have had the same troubled guy who tightens things too tight from mental issues. But your process worked great. I wish you great wealth and happiness! all the best neal sw fla

I work on my car. That's the only person I trust
I am going to give that a go to help my 3 . It starts all the time but on occassion it stumbles a long time . Hope this fixes it. Love the car. Thanks for your insight and contribution
Thanks! Performed a super flush using CLR Pro Radiator Flush. Afterwards I was able to get the thermostat housing removed after an hour of WD-40ing the area, tapping it with a rubber mallet, and a lot of TLC (Tender Love and Cursing). The build up had created an almost cement-like barrier. Just have to install the new water pump and thermo housing, then fill it with 50/50 mix of coolant. And it's good to go. Cheers to you and enjoy your adult beverages! 🍺😁👍
🤣 my first ever super thanks. You didn't have to do that boss but I do appreciate it. Glad to hear you finally got it to work out for you.
@@13sGARAGE You deserve it brother. Enjoy those drinks and have a great weekend!
I mean it’s better than no oil 😂😂😂😂😂
😮 thats crazy
Video thirteen days old .. which is perfect timing since I've owned my 2004 ascender for six months and cant find much info online for them. Thnx
I don't trust the dealership mechanics they are a bunch of thieves lean to do your own screw them
Do you really need star socket to remove the stud? A simple 7mm hex won’t work?
You can use whatever you feel like boss. But as a professional mechanic I would recommend using the correct tool for the job. One stripped stud and this job can go from taking 2 hours to 2 days real quick.
Thanks buddy. What’s the name of the socket I need? I have a 2012 gmc Acadia. I believe my alternator is going out and whining.

Did they charge more for the extra oil
Great video, thank you for uploading this. I have a 01 S-type 3.0 V6 with eletronic struts. Is the procedure more or likely the same for the front struts?
@@ruttur1072 correct, except for your electrical connector it should be pretty much exactly the same
That’s just more oil to sale on the secondary market!
Could be worse. I was working at my mom's boyfriend's Firestone and a Suburban came in for an oil change and shaky tires. The woman driving it was a hottie. I noticed the wheels were caked with mud so I pulled the drain plug and then pulled the tires to wash the mud off the inner wheels. I put the tires back on and went to get a filter. The shop foreman thought the car was done because the tires were back on and he lowered the vehicle and pulled it out. He thought I did the whole oil change and then went to work on the tires. No oil. Screwed up the engine. When the woman was dealing with my mom's boyfriend to get the engine replaced, they hit it off and he left my mom for her. Worst oil change ever, although he didn't fire me.

Are you saying that turning on the engine and backing out the car burned up the engine it what, 3 minutes run time?
430pm perfect video 😊
Dont let me work on your car
Did it have a reason why?
@@AlanSchildroth why what?
How she running today? What are the benefits of doing this?
@@alejorosas7302 the flex is running fine, picked up a little bit of power on the top end. But the biggest notable change was the tone of the engine when it's in its power band. It sounds much throatier.
Thanks for this excellent video, straight to the point with no filler. I've got my 2013 3.7 v6 sitting in my garage at the moment. I have everything removed down to the thermostat housing, including the bolts. Problem is the housing won't budge. I've tried tapping on it using a wooden block and hammer to no avail. Do you have any suggestions on how to remove it? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
the thermostat housing should come off pretty easily, id double check that all bolts have been removed. i think 2 bolts under the thermostat where kind of hiding.
@@13sGARAGE Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Double checked and yes I've removed all four bolts, as shown in the repair manual, and still no movement. Is it possible that the part became frozen on the pipe extension because of scaling from the old coolant? If so I'm probably going to need to close it back and do a super flush.
i double checked the video and after removing those bolts you should be able to wiggle the thermostat house off, without being able to put hand on it I don't think ill be able to help you out here.
@@13sGARAGE That's alright, I do appreciate you getting back to me and taking the time to try and help me out with my problem. After removing the hose at the end of thermostat housing that goes to the radiator, I see there's calcium and lime built up on the connection. Because of that, it's most likely a build up of that stuff that's keeping it from moving. I'm going to put it back together and do a super flush. Hopefully that will help. Again thanks for your input and the great content. Take care. P.S. Payday's coming up Friday, gonna by you a beer or two then.
@stephenpaul6118 🤣 I'll toast to you then buddy
Litres are on left scale no?
Quarts on the left/ Liters on the right
I started working on cars when I was 7 years old (25 years ago) and my Dad was a master mechanic. When I started working on cars at dealerships I would see even "seasoned techs" overfill because the "oil filter" will suck a bunch up.. then they would use an impact wrench to tighten the drain plug and a filter wrench on the new filter.. ALWAYS be careful who does your maintenance, and try to do the basics on your own!
Followed your instructions on my wife’s Izusu Ass-ender 2007. Changed the oil as instructed. Great job, bro. Thank you very much for this video.
@@victorrivera4808 thank you for the great comment. I always love hearing that my videos are helping people.
Do my own.
Oh, my engine is smoking.... Dealership, you need a new car
And they probably didn't change the filter
...or..more likely..they never drained the oil in the first place..
no i don;t think they did twice filling it. they just forgot to drain it
so fill one get one free?😀
