Great Western Trail: Rails to the North Review
Good job Richie! Saskatoon Dave
You haven't played Forest Shuffle enough. There are a LOT of strategies once your familiar with the game. Deer/Wolf is just the most obvious.
Awesome video! Also “if you can’t lose in turn one why play turn one” is probably my favorite Splotter community saying lol
New to the channel, I really enjoyed your culling vid. I'm also someone who likes curating their collection, keeping meaningful games over keeping piles of games that don't get played. Good to see I'm not alone! Well done
Nice work, Richie! I'm looking forward to Shelf 2!
I’ve had green deal on my shelf of shame forever also, very much want to play it. The 3 player count has been problematic for me ever since I got it.
Listening to Richie has a feeling like "the Bobs" in Office Space. You see Manhattan Project, what we are trying to do here, is we are trying to get a feel for what each of you board games actually do for my shelf. Whew, Fields of Arle. Well, today you're safe, but your days are numbered. Are you really a huge Kiesling fan? You sold me a Kiesling game for $1 and claimed that Faraway was just a better version of it that did the same thing. You sound so dejected that no one was really mean in your play of Hansa Teutonica lol. I will play BoraBora with you!
I doubt even Kiesling likes Reworld 😆. Faraway takes that hook and made a good game out of it.
CO2 is really good solo. I was the same with Terracotta Army.
That’s great to hear! Lately, most of my solo gaming has been focused on working through all the Spirit Island content I own, but I think it's time for a break and to try something new.
Fun video. Hard to play all the games!
You are wanting to cull. I thought for sure you would have culled Terra Mystica. Gaia is all you need or if really agree sick on fantasy, then Age of Innovation would take up less room and it's better.
I still love Terra Mystica, and with the expansions, it offers a unique experience that makes it stand apart from Gaia Project, definitely still worth owning. While I enjoy and own Age of Innovation, the factions feel a bit generic compared to those in Terra Mystica and Gaia Project, which is a downside for me. That said, I do appreciate all the other changes, but it still doesn’t replace Terra Mystica for me.
Great video, looking forward to more!
Recently (well, in the past year or 2) hit the cull-tivate stage of board-gaming myself. Always interesting to see how others approach it!
Pendragon and Falling Sky are my favorites. Like you said though, they are all so good!
I just got rid of one of the games you picked so I feel justified in my decision!
Which game?
@@punchboardparadise7007 Bora Bora. I also feel like you could condense your Marvel Champions to make more space.
I definitely could but I've made the expensive choice to put inserts in each box to keep them organized as I'm not a fan of the other storage recommendations for MC 🤑.
Whoa this is an amazing list, I own the majority of these and haven’t played a few, so I’m going to hop to it and find some players!
Need to add number section to the title.
Great video!
This is better than the podcast. Sorry Richie and chad
Awesome list! Pax Renaissance is the G.O.A.T. Cheers from Argentina
The commentary here is great
Thanks clef Saskatoon dave
I was about to give this review a 👍🏽 but there ABSOLUTE SLAUGHTERING of the names kept me away from that!!! For starters you can try to pronounce the name of the game correctly... Try this.. We-Jaya-Nah-Ga-Raw.....
My number 1 too. A masterpiece.
You have more hair than I thought! Saskatoon Dave
Does 3D Bit space plan on doing an insert that is compatible with the expansion?
I don't know. I will ask him next time I see him and let you know.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for covering the game.
Absolutely. Thanks for a great game!
There is an endgame variant, Timur's Shadow, depending on your preference!
Ahh. I'll have to check that out. Thanks for a great game!
This list is really good.
Thanks!
They just reprinted Aladdins Dragon as Keydom's Dragons
Thank you for making the effort to film this whole top 101 games list, I really enjoyed it! Your podcast is also awesome - my favourite! All the best and happy gaming!
Thank you soooo much!
Sphinx and Boxers!
It’s very weird finally being able to see what you look like as you talk, Clef. All this time I had an image of you in my head that looked like Colonel Sanders.
Finger Licking Good!!!!
I'm glad you forgot who ruined your game of Time's Up! :)
I didn't forget I just didn't want to call you out. LOL
*Promo sm* 🏃
I agree with you on the best Uwe Rosenberg game. :)
I played Magic back in the 90s too, but while you were traveling the world, I never really went beyond the cafeteria in my high school. :) I went to one tournament one time and had a bad experience, and then gave it up entirely when I went to college. I should have stuck with gaming in general, though, even if I wasn't going to play Magic anymore. So many years wasted...
Is the Azul family of games your 81, and Queen's Garden is your favorite of them? Or would regular Azul, for example, not be as high as 81 if it weren't for Queen's Garden? (I realize how compulsive it makes me that I'm even asking this question... :) ).
I am grouping them together but Queen's Garden is my favorite of the Azul's. Thanks for the question.
great list, thanks
love the videos, Clef
I feel like you have Magic too low just because of how successful it is.. it should be higher
It definitely is an iconic game. I think my lack of playing it on a regular basis keeps it a little lower on my list.
@@punchboardparadise7007 fair enough. I'm not a board game whiz myself but I have a lot of friends that play magic So depending on the criteria it's staying power alone should be enough to net it a very high ranking
Digging this extended look down your Top 100 Clef. Keep it up!
Glad your enjoying it.
I was so worried you weren't going to mention the designer. Nice work though.
Thanks!
Excellent video as always, Clef! Your podcast abilities are really showing up on this one -- having a 42 min monologue without any editing and no rambling is quite impressive. Great games all around! I'll keep La Famiglia on my radar for sure and I'm really hoping to try Horseless Carriage and GWT New Zealand soon. Cheers!
Thank you!!!
This list is dumb and invalid without any 18xx
I've played 37 unique 18xx games; my gaming sessions are mostly 18xx. There are no 18xx games released in 2023 that I would put in my top 20 games of the year.
@@Andy-Mesa I'm on the podcast with Clef and just giving him crap because he doesn't like 18xx. In our top 10 of 2023 episode I didn't have any 18xx make my list either.
@@chadjacobson2679 ok, I'm the developer of Stationfall, can you give him crap for being the only person not to mention it? 😉
@@Andy-Mesait was mentioned 🤷♂️
@@craigandrews7544 my apologies for the bad joke. I did see that it was listed #1 by Richie and #5 by Chad. Thanks, by the way!
Great stuff! Keep'em coming!
Loving the videos, keep em coming!
Another excellent video, Clef! Roads & Boats is the latest Splotter that I tried and felt in love with. Love the map diversity and the direct player interaction. Gotta try Indonesia next, you sold that well! Looking forward to it. Cheers!
Glad to hear. Let me know when you get to play it!
Great video, love the wall of games
Thanks!!!
Nice t-shirt. Hope to make it to AoS con some day
You should! It's a great con.
