Although you can get them throughout the year, one of my favorite times is during the summer months when we have the mullet run which attracts these really big snook. Hope that helps.

In that video targeting those snapper from the rocks, I was using an old Daiwa BG 6500 that's held up really well...that reel has taken some serious punishment but still going strong!!

@desertgallosfishing my 6500 saltist is basically a beefed up BG......more seals and smoother but same drag and capacity....ive got 500 yards of 50lb braid on it. BG is a good midrange reel

Hey there...yeah man, with Sierra mackerel the most productive time is definitely at first light & usually a fairly short bite window although not always & sometimes we can get them later in the day or afternoon...hope that helps.

Yeah, it's a century slingshot that I had made up quite a long time ago now & with the guides, I actually went with a combination of the titanium low riders & the double foot titanium K guides & have been really happy with it to be honest...hope that helps.

@@desertgallosfishing Your rod looks very good, I was not sure what guides you have. I thought they are low riders..what happen if you use a bigger reel?? Whats the size of the striper guide? I am using also Century but FMA fro UK. I have 12 and 13fts and now I got Century FMA 13ft blank and thinking about guides what to put on it. If you have a good idea for the guides and its no secret please share it. Thanks, R

Cheers man🙏 Sorry for the late reply...was using a century slingshot 144m with a Daiwa BG 6500...think I was running 80lb braid with a 100lb fluoro leader only because of the very heavy structure & target species...kind of a necessity.

I use the Century slingshots...I have a couple different models depending on where I'm fishing & what species I'm targeting. For most of the beach stuff I'm generally fishing lighter, 30 to 40lb braid & different leader setups depending on the season. Hope that helps & sorry for the late reply.

Hi Rick, this was up at Punta Arena which is a different area but yeah, definitely a little unexpected for this time of year. One thing to take into account are the current 'El Nino' weather conditions & a lot warmer water than is normal at this time of year but hey, it's also just fishing... sometimes the unexpected happens!! 😬😬

@desertgallosfishing Yes for sure....didn't get a rooster back in July when i was there but did see one Big rooster come right to shore infront of me chasing bait and that was it, never saw it again. Awesome your son got his revenge 💪🏽
