I love Mark but I must say those yeah hi yeahs on You Raise Me Up defeat the purpose of the song. It's meant to be a calm & emotional song. The yeah hi yeahs just spoil it. Sorry but that's the truth. The low base is the gist, the stomach of the song. I wish that he read the comments and that he understands it's from the point of love. And Shane, that You Raise Me up ending is not nice at all. I wish he can stick to the original ending because it brings dignity , unity with the beat and the sound. Which gives the song that original calming sound. This song doesn't need fancy changes. It's perfect the way it was written. You can't fix something that is already perfect. That song was meant to be a emotional tribute. And singers are not suposed to tell us what they or the writer feel . They are suposed to make us FEEl what they feel, through their singing. The yeahi yeahs and that closing line are not it at all. Shane got it right on the record . I don't know why he feels that he must change it.
