What neck is that?
Selmer neck - solid silver.
I’ve always been told (and have found it to be the case) that double alt C is the highest USEABLE note on the saxophone. Nice consistency of tone, btw. You’re also looking rather fit in that t-shirt, but I digress.
In my opinion, this extreme end of the range impractical. It requires so much control and the slightest deviation of voicing will result in the note changing pitch, intonation, or tone. But it makes for a cool party trick. And thank you! I try to hit the gym 6 days a week!
I go to saline heritage and i recognize you do you go there?
Yes! I teach several woodwind students at Heritage!
I recommend not going above concert Eflat 6 if you care about the tone
Depends on the saxophonist. Though there are many that can play far higher than that with a consistently beautiful tone. Several pieces in our standard repertoire call for the saxophone to play up to concert A-flat 6 above that. The highest I've ever seen a piece of music demand (for the alto) is a concert B 6.
How!?
Application of voicing. I'm ssing a series of anchor or checkpoint notes. Beginning with my tongue and voicing set lower than I would for the beginning note. As I raise my tongue, I slowly move my fingers toward each of the checkpoint notes making sure that my fingers stay ahead of where the produced pitch is. The tongue and voicing is effectively playing catch up to the fingers until they meet at the top most note.
@JaredWatersSaxophonist great explanation, doing sax professionally at the moment but still trying to improve on my altissimo range.
@@Hari-Harmonies Not to dump unsolicited advice, but check out Top Tones by Sigurd Rascher! Incredible resource for overtones and altissimo.
@@JaredWatersSaxophonist brilliant thank you, I've been using better sax and a few others on here to get there, at the moment I'm able to get to top A without too many inconsistencies.
@@JaredWatersSaxophonist if I'm able to, could I share an improving sax playlist of about 4 different videos from different channels including your suggestion. Brilliant gliss by the way, would love to learn to do that more consistently on the sax
WOW! Years late but this does not have enough views!
It sounds like a violin
Wow very nice
How do you find the rhapsody sheet music for free?
You may be able to find PDF excerpts on Google
Wow incredible!
This arrangement is now available at MurphyMusicPress.com with the options of acquiring the complete set, individual movements, and a rehearsal guide that will streamline your ensemble's preparation.
dear god imagine playing it at tempo
ciudad 😊
no. 28 next pls!
😮
Theo would think that song is so funny
If he likes it, I can give it to him to work on in our lessons!
lol
Awesome!
can it be played on tenor sax?
Can I get a sheet music of this pls?
Bravo! 👏👏👏👏👏
Mega genial bravo
What fingering do you use for double a, double b, and double c?
What fingering do you use for double b and c?
I believe I was using 1, 2, 4, 6, octave
I'm trying to learn this piece, just found a reliable fingering for the Ab7!
I thought bro was about to play rhapsody in blue 💀
Damn
Impossibile
Is there anything specific that you're focusing on to get the lower notes? I can get to a B (admittedly a bit sharp) comfortably but if i try and voice any lower I just drop down to middle D.
Excellent. I'dlike to do that
😍🫠💛🖤✨
i didn’t know saxes could do that like brass could!! i’ve been playing sax for 2 years and no one told me this!? GOSH 😭
How is this even possible😮
Altissimo
@@Jus_AceBat no I get that lol. It's just so amazingly smooth it's crazy
Kettle’s boiled, who wants tea?
Something I always wanted to learn how to do in high school. I played sax from 2004 to to 2010 and basically stopped after I graduated high school. Had a natural talent at it and I miss playing so much.
Never too late to pick up the horn again!
Agreed, never too late. I just started back up after nearly 15 years of a break.
Can you explain how you have the gliss so smooth? Or point me to where i could research, because this isnt something ive seen before and im so baffled by this
I'm effectively stringing together a bunch of smaller glisses through a series of checkpoints. Starting on D to G, then to Palm D, crossing over the front fingerings towards altissimo A and then altissimo D, then overblowing palm F# to hit the double G. My landlord currently doesn't allow me to play on the premises. Once I can secure a more consistent place to play and record, I intend on making a tutorial on how to gliss on saxophone.
@JaredWatersSaxophonist super cool, thanks for the answer 🙏
Saxophone slide whistle! Hell yeah
Bro turned into a violin
How do you do that seriously
this is so smooth wtf 😭
Oh! Ladies and gentlemen The moment you've all been waiting for In this corner Weighing 175 pounds With a record of...
Rhapsody in blue
Gliss so smooth I was waiting for rhapsody in blue
Same!
I heard the same thing... They're both a concert F
@@TrashCanBoiBoithe rhapsody in blue clarinet gliss is open g to high c, so it was the wrong ending note but I get the point
Yeah@@FNBRVolts
@FNBRVolts The Soprano Clarinet is in Bb. So a C played on clarinet would be Bb concert. His Bb was an octave higher but it was the correct pitch
Playing is 100% Outfit is zero!!
I could never do this! That was excellent.....AND IN TUNE!
That was the slickest glissando on a sax I have ever heard. Pure sex coming through that horn.
HAHAHA!! Thank you so much!
pure sex 🔥🔥
Genial essa digitação!
That double alt G was never a stable note for me and you play it like a GD violin. Gorgeous.
Not to provide any unsolicited advice, but to do exactly that, I find this register speaks much more effortlessly if you slightly roll out the bottom lip so that more "pink" contacts the reed. Hope this is helpful!
Interesting. Is there a note at which you noticeably begin to roll out? Maybe around D or E?
@@jzer21 In this video, I was rolled out from the get go. In most pieces, I will usually roll out for anything that's Double F#/G or higher.
@@JaredWatersSaxophonist thanks for the tip! I think I tend to focus too much on overly tightening my embouchure from an alt E upwards. I’ll try shifting focus to the lip instead.
Good sound, and clean technique!! Great!
WTF...
I hope you mean that in a good way...?
