Welcome! I have no idea where this is gonna go. I'm currently playing with 5 kayaks and 3 paddle boats. I'm lazy and it takes a lot of work to be as lazy as I wish to be. These videos will show just how much work it really takes. I'll be modifying the boats, motorizing them, and building lithium batteries to power them. If you enjoy the videos, hit the subscribe button and say hello in the comments. I work a full time job so will try to reply to them all but can't make any promises. Warning: I'm a grown up and tend to use "colorful" language. If this offends you, I will ask you to move along. If you'd like to help, buy me a coffee or 2 bmc.link/notoshaapproved
Pond update
I finally had time to work on the 2nd pond. Really liking this filter and pump combo. This weekend I'll be making it "smart" and adding control to Home Assistant

Protruar G 3.0 First water test!

I'm super impressed with the new Haswing! I believe the #Yakimaran has met its match. Anything above 60% throttle and she torpedoes. Saw speeds coming back in the mid 5's. 5.6 I think was max before she tried to sink herself. Used a total of 35ish ah out of the new 24-volt pack during roughly 5 hours of testing and diddly bopping around. I guess I lied about not posting a link. This link is NOT...

OK, rebuild my 200ah 12 volt battery into a 24 volt 100 ah battery and used a 200 amp BMS. Enough pussy-footing around. I can't wait to get this thing in the water and see what it really does! Wireless Trailer Tester is ready for the masses!
OK where are you?
Hello and congratulations again for your great video I had a question: can the JK-PB2A16S20P communicate easily with a victron multiplus II 5000VA? what equipment do you need special cable in addition? I'm trying to find out about the bms because as I have a large 24 volt 1300AH battery pack I would like it to work perfectly before investing in the BMS and the victron multiplus II! laurent
You were expecting this thing to make your water clear in no where near enough time. Those filters are great at the mechanical end but a bit lacking in the biological end. The beneficial bacteria is what will give you crystal clear water. Also will prevent sludge build up. Bacteria can be colonized almost anywhere. If you have the pond bottom filled with river rocks or gravel you’ll get colonies of bacteria. Keep in mind there are 2 types of benificial bacteria. Aerobic and anaerobic. This address the water column differences. I used one of those as a pre filter before my bio falls set up. It works pretty good but I have the larger model. For whatever reason they didn’t make that one with a crank to wring out the filters. Backwashing works pretty good but like you mentioned you’ll need to pull it all apart to do a thorough cleaning. That part isn’t much fun.
Hi, can you help explain the hardware you are using to make this happen? I have a jk bms with rs485 port, and I’m wondering if I need an adapter or something?
You have to have the JK Inverter BMS. It is different than the standard jk with rs485. rs485 only sends data to the screen.
Just got one that looks same as this one on amazon a few weeks ago. The Amazon unit looks like a near carbon copy of the Luna unit I have but cheaper materials. My Luna filter had worked for 25 years. The ring clamp totally fell apart due to rust and one of the handles pulled right off. It would have been 500 plus Canadian dollars to replace it. So the Amazon one is 4x cheaper and its best feature :) I love the fact that the canister is shut with an easy plastic clamp and sealed with a gigantic o ring. But the cleaning mechanism is garbage. At best, it scrapes the surface of the sponge cog Wheels. The bottom sponge does not turn on first use. You have to unscrew assembly to get sponges to clean. Way harder than it should be. So you can spray it in place but the chlorine.... I have a filter pre box attached to intake pump to help. Output goes into a small diy barrel with biological filter media. The biggest issue for me was this unit clogged after just 2 weeks vs whole season for the Luna unit it has replaced. Otherwise, it is similar in its ability to Luna unit. Cleaning is way worse. But for the price...I will live with it.
Have had one of these sat in my basket online for about 2 weeks as I couldn't decide whether to get one. I'm currently running a solar fountain and filter which is a hassle to take out of the pond and clean out every week and also isn't really running long enough to oxygenate the pond. (Not enough sun in an English summer for a solar pump - should've seen that coming!) After watching your helpful video I think I'll hit the checkout button. Thank you
I had the same issue with mine regarding the mis labeled ports in the manual. So frustrating! I set my BMS to the Pylontech protocol and I'm curious if the GoodWe is the better setting. As is sits now everything works fine except the Inverter doesn't display the detected Ah rating of the battery only the SOC. Does your inverter/dashboard show a battery capacity with it set to GoodWe protocol? Also, does it follow the absorb/float settings you have set on the JK BMS. Mine skips over the absorb phase and goes straight to float.
Many have the same problem where absorption to balance doesn’t work. Interested to see if it does on GoodWe setting.
LiFePo4 batteries don't need to absorb. If the communication is working the BMS will tell the inverter what it wants for voltage and current. I didn't use the plyontec setting long enough to see what worked and what didn't. I have the RCV set to 3.5 and don't recall seeing a float setting. It may have been there. I only changed a few settings and didn't go through them all.
Where can I buy??
Does that hub work with old black jk bms (2 blue wire )
Nope.
Add a second or bigger filter u will be fine
Same filter system on my 600 gallon pond. Runs 24/7 365 Before the filter it was a mess. Once A week I clean with hand crank and every 6 months disassemble and clean the innards. I’ve found out that disassembling the filters isn’t necessary and just spray the filters with hose and crank the handle. At the bottom where the balls are that’s the disgusting part. Use the hose again and then clean out the container. Reassemble and do it all over again in 6 months. I Live in Arizona.
Does it take a lot of power?
I have one of the two JK BMSs attached to one bank. I will attach the other side of the bank with its JK BMS this weekend. I want to connect it all to a Xantrex 4548 with the SCP control panel. It uses Xanbus. Think you could help me get it all communicating?
Probably not. I know nothing about Xantrex stuff excpt for the inverter I replaced and have since used to run my shed. It's a "dumb inverter" so just has battery in and 120 out for connections
Thank my fiter is arriving today I have two ponds one for bream gold fish and talapia and it will filter both ponds since they loop together by a waterfall and a pump back into the big waterfall at the other end !
Try a bog filter. Essentially a bucket or barrel filled with rocks that fills at the bottom and empties out the top into the pond. Preferably have it waterfall into the pond to also aireate the water.
good review they can take up to a week to clear up with a few cleans between to get it better
Pretty sure you have it piped wrongx̌
Sorry I didnt watch to the end where you added hoses.
If I were you I would add a hose where the water comes out and extend it out over the pond. Your filter can become clogged when you aren't there and water could run straight down your filter side and out on the ground and drain your pond. They are meant to have a hose or sit over the pond. I've used a few different kinds over 15 years.
No where near big enough for a 2 foot long plec
thanks!
Props cavitation. So want to put it a little deeper.
I have 2 of these. Absolutely love em. Used them for years. In salt water.
before i sell a pond i tell my clients there are three stages of water . water problem , water head ache , water nightmare . yours is stage water nightmare . its a lot of work to keep fish ,water plants and don't get me started on turtles . the filter system you bought is sufficient for this pond . it just needs to turn the water over for two time a day . down fall is the cleaning . it will have to be cleaned often . more in important is your UV light . you need a in pipe uv or put the light in the filter . all the water must run over the UV light . turtles are highly toxic with saminila poisoning. the more you run the filter the more clear the water will get . you can also use aqua clear products . keep ph around 7 no more then 8 .5 no less then 6 . don't use water from your house it has chlorine . you can buy a filter or let water set for three days . after the water clears you will have algae problems any algaecide will do . i hope you enjoy the water feature i can tell you there is an answer for any problem you encounter . but they are work to maintain
Bog filter
We have one of those filters… not worth the money. Make a homemade with a bucket and poly fill. You’ll see improvement in minutes.
Did you get both jk inverter BMS running in parallel with the 6000xp recognizing them?
right im curious too.
Any update
Yes. Followed the guide from @OffGridGarageAustralia (thanks Andy). Super simple and worked first try.
Why on Earth would you buy a Chinese made 6000 XP, with its low surge capacity in the first place?
it works great for me. anything i use that surges is a 240v load 6000w is plenty. and there split phase 120v too 3000w on each leg. not to mention that are stackable if you need more. they have a ats, 12kw of solar charger mppt, breakers, ac grid charger too. name another 1400 dollar solution thats better?
you should add one more turtle for Mr turtle
nice, but without a compression ? I will do a rack mounting system
Nice, I think currently its best BMS version for DIY, I wait for my first 16x cells to setup a bank. My inwerter is a SoyoSource GTN-1200LIM48 means have a CT clamp as limiter who do hybrid OnOffGrid, export only for auto-consumption, zero export to grid, max 900W output. For me perfect !
Where can I find one of these ?
It will take days, but will work
'Promo SM' 🙂
A bunch of plants will definitely make a big difference.
Is the motor shaft vertical? Have you tried trimming the motor up so it tends to lift the bow, instead of sinking it?
2 years ago...ruclips.net/video/gEyQPKCX9XE/видео.html&ab_channel=Scottthesigncrafter
Are those 100ah cells? Which Horrible Freight case is that?
Yes, bought them years ago. SKU is 64250. I can fit another 8-100's in there or can swap out to 8-280's. Don't currently have either of those so range anxiety will be high on Sunday.
@@notoshaapproved 8 280ah cells plus BMS will fit in that case?
@@MikeJordanUnCamplicated I think so.
Looks promising. 4hp equivalent that's what 3kw. Wonder what kind of amps it pulls.
the hawing is brushless, I assume? If so esc potted in the foot?
Yes brushless with a planetary gearbox in the foot. The handle comes off and has a 3 conductor plug (small gauge wire) in it that I'm assuming goes to a pot in the handle. No idea where the ESC is. Gonna make sure it does what I want it to before I hack it up.
That is a great power plant. That should move the yakamaran easily. Typical DIY engineer...never read the directions first!😆
I hope so. The NV36's and 55's get expensive when you replace them twice a year.
Awesome!
Thanks!
Might be harmonics in the aluminum ladder
Sounds like a VFD squeal.
It's an overcurrent warning beeper. Anything 60 amps or higher issues a warning. Yeah, like I listen to them....
Wow. Sounds like a jet turbine firing up! Keep us posted.
I just bought same filter. Does the UV light indicator suppose to be on all the time? Mine goes off and on, stays off more than on. I think something is wrong with my bulb possibly.
My UV light stays on all the time. Had to replace the bulb a few months back. Cheap and easy. Still recommend!
@@notoshaapprovedit’s a pretty darn good filter cleared my pond up in 24hrs. Yet that’s when noticed the visual light indicator flickering “now it’s just off” I did purchase new UV lights. They just came in,the temps are still colder so no chance of algae forming, but going to get out there to change it soon. My biggest coy had to much fun after the pond cleared up that I found him outside the pond 10’ plus away from it 😢 he must of jumped out of pond with new arrangement and flow of water current. I saw the night before I found it that they were having fun swimming against current of water. 🪦
Filter and pond sucks
I love you too!
What a bellend
Make room where the turtles could stay dry and bask under the sunlight.. 💁♀️ they need it everyday
I did, added some stacked rocks for them to sun themselves.
This video reminds me there is so much stuff ppl need to know before spending their whole savings in ponds and calling it expensive :x thanks for sharing and have a great day.
So true!
Thats my kinda DIY . 😁 What does the antenna look like? Do you have it in a bowl?
It's a Proxicast and looks kinda like a hat. Didn't have to modify it in any way. Has a threaded pipe sticking out of the bottom that fits a 1 1/4 inch NPT pvc thread. Once I get up the nerve, I'll drill a hole in the roof and mount it but that won't be anytime soon. amzn.to/3uO4zWr
Thank you for including the pump name
Glad I could help.
