Islam’s best phase was that of Prophet pbuh and then the reign of Khalifa i.e Abu Bakr ra. , and then Umar r.a and the Uthman r.a and then Ali r.a . The story in the video goes as follows: They ruled the world with simplicity and humility , unlike the present day rulers , who have castles and huge palaces for them like in Pakistan and other countries. During the Caliphate of Umar r.a , an emissary from Iran had visited him. He asked the people “ Where is your king?”, To which the people responded “We don’t have a king , we only have an Amir i.e people’s representative. He is called “Amir ul Mu’mineen” (Umar r.a was the JUST RULER , He dealt with both the rich and the poor with complete justice, so he had this title of “Amir ul Mu’mineen i.e Leader of the Believers”. Umar r.a had such aura that the prophet pbuh told about him “When Umar comes, the shaytan runs in the opposite direction”. Every country and every ruler would literally fear when Umar r.a’ name was taken because of his aura and dealing with justice,at the same time being fearless in every manner . ) So this emissary wanted to know where is this Umar, whose name when taken, every ruler of the world is fearful, and was searching for his castle, but then this emissary found that Umar r.a was sleeping under a tree , tired after searching for someone’s lost camel in the desert. Umar r.a was wearing very common clothes, didn’t have any pillow, just his armor under a tree like any other man in his area. So this emissary said to him “O Umar, you are a VERY JUST ruler, so you don’t fear anyone, but our rulers oppress people, so they always live in fear, even though they live behind tall castles, they need bodyguards to protect them “ …. Dr. Israr Ahmed continues that , till this day, the same type of castles and palaces like the palace of Al hamra are being built for the modern day rulers , but no one knows today who lived in it ,none of its inhabitant's traces is to be found in these tall buildings and palaces. From the time of Banu Ummayah until now , there have been lots of changes in the way rulers treat themselves and the people they lead, they have started to collect the material gains, and leaving the actual simple and humble way of life taught by the Prophet pbuh, people taking Interest from banks became common (Interest of any form is totally haram in Islam ) . some modernists don’t accept the Saudi model or the Iranian model , which used to be called a conservative model of Islam . And then he quotes a poem of Allama Iqbal as to how shaytan tricks the humans and people became more and more corrupt, people kept dividing based on their desires , how shaytan tricks humans to be involved in gathering more and more wealth and not being concerned about Allah and the day they will face death . Then he goes on to say today’s need is the model of the prophet pbuh and the model of the Caliphates like that of Umar r.a . Many modern-day philanthropists talked about the Prophet pbuh and wanted to follow the leadership model of prophet Muhammd pbuh. Some examples of these modern leaders are Ammen Roy who talked about Prophet Muhammad pbuh in his book “Historical role of Islam”. He said in his book , “The best of human era in the human history was that of the prophet Muhammad’s reign” . Mahatma Gandhiji when he made the ‘ Govt of India Act ‘ of 1935, and then later lead the nation told about Abu Bakr r.a and Umar r.a , Mahatma Gandhi says about the justice and generosity of Caliph Umar1: “As I pictured him (Umar) before my mental eye walking to Jerusalem upbraiding some of his followers for aping the pomp of their neighbours, refusing to pray in a Christian church lest succeeding generations might claim to convert it into a mosque, granting the most liberal terms to the conquered Christians, and as I picture him declaring that the word of a follower of Islam, though pledged by one not authorized thereto, was as good as the written decree of the great Caliph himself, he (Caliph Umar) commands my humble respect. His was an iron will. He weighed out the same justice to his daughter that he would weigh to an utter stranger.” 1. Complete Works of Mahatma Gandhi, Vol 25. Then Dr. Israr Ahmed shares an incident with his friend , who was a Deen of the political science in Usmania university , when they talk about what Mahatma Gandhiji said to Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad . Mahatma Gandhiji said to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad “Your college has been granted permission to be upgraded to a university, but can you guarantee that your university can produce just ONE UMAR ? But I know fully well that, you can never get one student having a character like that of Umar r.a, because I have seen your hostels, and it is filled with luxury, it doesn’t look anything like that of the lifestyle that the Caliph Umar used to have “ . H. G. Wells classical Book ‘The Outline of History Volume 1’. In this book an entire chapter is dedicated to Prophet Muhammad pbuh The chapter is entitled “Muhammad and Islam”. He talks about the leadership of Prophet Muhammad pbuh and Umar r.a . H. G Wells praises prophet Muhammad saying “ In the history of humanity, many have spoken about equality, but it was Only Prophet Muhammad pbuh who practically showed the way to equality of all humans, no matter whether they are black or white, rich or poor” . Michael H. Hart , an American astrophysicist, author and white nationalist. Since 1978, he has published five books, most notably of the best-selling work, The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History. The first person on Hart's list was Muhammad, chosen over Jesus or Moses. Hart attributes this to the fact that Muhammad was "supremely successful" in both the religious and secular realms. He also accredits Muhammad for his role in the development of Islam, far more influential than Jesus' contribution to the development of Christianity. Dr. Israr Ahmed goes on to say that while non -muslims identify the greatness of prophet Muhammad, some modern muslims have turned away from the true lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad pbuh. He Quotes the Quran and says “Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever has hope in Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah often.” (Quran Surah Al Ahzab 33:21) , meaning Allah is specifically telling the muslims to take the prophet as an example for every action and hardship that he ever faces in life. He goes on to say that the Quran cannot be forced unto someone, and until the person himself wants guidance, he will never get guidance from the Quran although the Quran is ‘Guidance for all mankind’. This Quran is a guidance under 3 conditions as mentioned in the Quranic verse 1. He has to have hope in Allah i.e a Supreme Authority 2. He has to have this understanding, that his deeds will be accessed by this Supreme Authority . 3. And that the person remembers Allah often . Uswah is an Arabic word meaning “an excellent example”
