Cannonsburg State Game Area Mountain Bike Trail - 4k / 60fps
Join me for one lap of the mountain bike trail at the Cannonsburg State Game Area near Grand Rapids, MI. This trail is 8 miles in length and also known as Egypt Valley by the locals. The large loop is split into 4 sections, with each section beginning or ending at a road crossing. The trail is one of the oldest in the area and one of the fastest, with plenty of open sections for pedaling.
The video was recorded on a GoPro Hero 11 in 4k / 60fps in September of 2024.
Here are the time stamps for the start of each of the four sections:
0:00 - Section 1
10:27 - Section 2
17:32 - Section 3
29:22 - Section 4

This race is the 36 mile distance, starting and finishing in front of Cedar Springs Brewing Company on Main St. in Cedar Springs. The race took place on July 13, 2024, with the weather being a toasty 75F, calm, and humid at the starting line. This course is quite flat, allowing for high speeds and solid...

2024 Barry Roubaix - 36 Mile Thriller

Here's my view of the 2024 Barry Roubaix 36 mile "Thriller" race. I started in the middle of wave 2, and tried my best to stay out of trouble in the first half. As the group got whittled down before Sager, I ended up in some smaller groups with a friend for the rest of the race. I had my GoPro hooked up to an external battery, but I must have screwed something up as the battery still ran dry af...

Global Fat Bike Day Ride

I went out for a ride on my Motobecane Boris X7 for Global Fat Bike Day 2017. I couldn't make the local chapter's event in the morning on the shore of Lake Michigan, so I just went for a solo ride in the afternoon at the Cannonsburg Ski Area. The video has a little of everything - climbing, twisty sections, sand, a crash, beaver damage, random thoughts, and a multi-view action sequence (lol). E...

UPDATE 2024 - The flow trails are still there, but are different from this video that was filmed when they first opened. Definitely worth checking out, but be prepared for a different look! Original description 2017 - There are three brand new flow trails at Wahlfield Park on the North side of Grand Rapids, MI. I took a run down each to check them out. While they are each fairly short, the setu...

    Is there jumps and whatnot on this trail or is it mostly just flow

      Yeah, I'd call this an 8.5/10 effort - that way you don't need to listen to heavy breathing the whole time haha

    Bass River is an awesome place to take a gravel bike to. There are a lot of technical trails weaved into it. The modern wide bar MTBs are a bit too wide for a lot of these sections.

    These flow trails certainly don't look like this anymore. They are now quite overgrown and bumpy. However, the rest of the trail is fun.

    I used to go walking/hiking there ALL THE TIME with my dog! I remember this one time she was running ahead of me and she (poor old girl, rest her soul in doggy heaven) she ran into a hornet's nest and got attacked. She turned right around and headed for the car and when i got there she was under the car. She had the most messed up look on her face like "what the heck just happened and why did you bring me to that?". Oh man, that must have sucked bad for her lol. But yeah, i miss going there. It's really cool all times of the year and it's big and spacious enough to feel like you're far outta town and getting some actual real fresh air and exercise. I want to move back to that area and i will be going to Bass River Rec Area as soon as i come back!!

    • @iverhey
      @iverhey 6 лет назад

      I'd say you'll be just fine with the Large. I'm on a Large and I'm 6'2". If your local shop has one of each definitely give them both a try though. I wish I would have gone with the XL because I'm basically right at the limit of how high the seatpost can go on mine.

    I'm about to purchase the chameleon. Not sure if I want to go with the D+ or R+. How do you like the Rockshox? Located in the mitten as well.

    • @iverhey
      @iverhey 7 лет назад

      I like the RockShox, but my bike before this one had a rigid carbon fork on the front, so anything is an improvement. From what I've read, if you have the extra funds, the Fox fork is the way to go. It sounds like that fork is quite a step up from the Recon. The other main difference is the Shimano driver on the D+ vs. the XD driver on the R+. I like the Shimano driver for the fact that I can fairly easily switch to single speed with some spacers and a cog. Other than that, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine! It sure is tons of fun for riding in this state.

      Fresh Coast MTB Appreciate the response and info. This is gonna be my first real mountain bike. My budget was supposed to be 1k but fell in love with the chameleon +tire. I like the fact I can go to a 29er if I want. The fox is the way to go in my opinion but being already out of my budget I'd be happy with rockshock. My mentality is that I can always upgrade. Appreciate the response and keep the videos going. Love the trail reviews!

    Thanks for the upload and the report on Riley on FB. I was debating on getting the YI 4k - do you know if the non 4k ($100 cheaper) records 1080p just as good? I don't really need "4k" ,but if there was drastic improvements to the 4k I might scoop it up, kinda on a budget.. Thanks!

    • @iverhey
      @iverhey 7 лет назад

      Unfortunately, all I have experience with is the first HD GoPro and the Yi4k. The 4k is really easy to use with tons of features and a great touch screen. I think they upgraded the chip and lens on the 4k vs. their first one. The Yi4k also has an image stabilizer that works at 1080p. While it can't compare to a gimbal, it still helps quite a bit. If you have any more questions, feel free to shoot me a message on facebook.
