WTF is a lumen and how many does my dive torch need?!
That’s fantastic news Nic, congratulations!
Weight belt for emergency dropping of weight. BCD buoyancy . Never join the 2 ever ever ever ever . In Emergency just flip belt clip , now watch for buoyancy control and breathing. No fuss no need to try and remember how do my BCD , weights detach ??. takes thought. weight belt instant click and gone, no thinking needed other than dump weight belt by unclicking harness clip. Buoyancy is 1 thing. Weighting is another, NEVER JOIN THE 2 . 48 years and never dropped my weights. PLAN YOUR DIVE, = DIVE YOUR PLAN. ALWAYS COME BACK WITH 500 PSI IN TANK:-)
You two are great! #waffleskin 😂
Would love to know how this fits over the weight pocket, but can't see it in your later videos. Did you do the video in the end?
Firstly - Long hose, this is the way!! Also, an Octo can be any colour a person wants, as long as it’s black. Secondly - I cannot stress just how fantastic the level of customer service provided by these guys really is. When struck with a manufacturing/ supplier issue caused by a global shipping disaster . . . Jim repeatedly went above and beyond to make sure I had the equipment I needed for my dive trip. Cannot recommend them highly enough. #RegDoctorLive

Looking forward to the Octo rant!

You guys have reached Australia! Me and dad are about to dive the Busselton Jetty today & Swan Wreck tomorrow. Viz predicted 10-15metres for both🎉 for now… you can live vicariously through us😅
Thanks for sharing the petition link guys ... the closure of the Dunstaffnage chamber is indeed a real concern for our Dive Resort on Arran but also for all the commercial and recreational divers we have on this side of the country. 😢 The Aberdeen 24/7 diver emergency help line is however our go to and they are amazing ... but the prospect of a long helicopter ride to Aberdeen is not great for any diver needing urgent treatment. Love the podcast and keep it going ❤
James... Jimbo... Jim, we love you either way. Didnt expect name to be the hardest question :P
I really wish my shop would have introduced me to the backplate and wing when I was learning. I ended up with a back inflate cause I knew I did not was a jacket style but I ended up not using it after 30 dives cause it isn't expandable or customizable. And the price between the two aren't much different. You guys are just the best. I was so impressed when I emailed you a question and you sent me a personalized video answer with my name to now, watching your videos on here. Makes me wish I lived closer. Stay awesome.
Nawwww thanks! We're defo seeing a trend towards backplate and wing... Let's hope it continues! - Nic

What about freediving modes? Is wrist HR is accurate?
Heya! I have no idea about the freediving modes, unfortunately - we don't have any freedivers here at The Honest Diver. I've tested the HR in the gym, it seemed consistent with my other fitness watches so I think it's as accurate as a wrist monitor can be. It's supposed to be able to track underwater HR too, although I'm diving in a drysuit sooo... nowts gonna get through to take a reading under my drysuit! Haha. Perhaps a trip to a warm country is needed, or the chest band under the suit maybe??
When I have the problem with pressing the button I put my watch on the inside of my hand not outside
Hello so it is a new watch but dose it have the same new sensors what venue 2 from the photos it looks like the old sensors any info about that ? I’m a little confused
You said you have student. Does that mean you organize some diving ? I'm a French diver (scuba and free diver) and i love to go in some new places. Where are you? Could i come for a weekend?
Hey Pat! Our dive school is called The Fifth Point (fifthpointdiving.com) and we're based in Northumberland, UK 😁 - nic
What is that xDeep model? I have a long/high nose bridge, will that fit?
It's really hard to say without actually getting it on your face. The XDEEP does have one of the biggest nose pockets I've seen though. Check it out: thehonestdiver.com/product/radical/ - Nic
Very good point about accidentally pressing the button during fitness. I have an older Garmin and also do that. Watch looks great otherwise. Thanks for the review.
Niiiiiiiiiiick..........
Diiiikkkiiiiiiii 😘
@@thehonestdiver missing you guys..pls ask James the Surfer Dude to post some review videos too..
@@dikizulkarnainmsa Ohhhh yes! As soon as we can get out diving again there'll be lots!
@@thehonestdiver awesome, all the very best to you. Stay safe.
Unfortunately I had to return the MK2i because the Respiration Rate app gives incorrect readings (EXTREMELY OFF) I do a lot of breathing exercises and breath holds and I was getting 15-16 brpm while i was holding my breath for 3-4 min or doing 3-4 breaths bpm and the watch telling me I was breathing 16 brpm. SO DISAPPOINTING.... I was looking forward to free dive with this beauty but for $1700 I can't justify a partial watch working accurately. I reached out to Garmin they said they would run some tests etc and get back to me, I checked Garmin forums and they all complain about the same issue that has lasted over 8 months.... Hopefully you can review that portion of it. Thank you kindly
Ah man! I'm not a free diver so didn't even play with those functions. Hope they get it fixed soon! - Nic
Great video, I have used both in the gym and underwater and love it, I do love the touch screen aspect underwater. I wear it everyday as I upgraded from the mk1 which was the fenix 5 plus dive computer to this which is the fenix 6 plus dive computer I have to say that the upgrade was definitely worth it and I still only need one watch to do everything I want.
Good review, thanks. It sure looks huge, I have small wrist too. I will use it for diving only and keep using my Fenix 5X during the day.
theres the Garmin mk2 S , its way smaller
@@micagas But without air integration.
Looks pretty. Expensive though, my thoughts this would put it outside the spending budget of the marjority of divers. Interested in how james likes or dislikes it when he gets to play.
Not really, if you're a regular diver you're probably working out too. If you like using a fitness watch/smart watch unless you're getting hard budget watches and a you' re looking at a reputable diver computer you'll probably spend more for two separate devices. This is what I loved about the MK1, I use it as my everyday watch for fitness and what ever else. Sadly I'm not diving enough to justify upgrading to the MK2i. Maybe if my MK1 dies or Garmin comes out with an awesome deal.
I though the same about the price, but for me is going to be a wrist watch with so many applications out of the water, finally something that I can put in my wrist that can be useful in mountain, sports, sailing and diving, specially for research and exploration, have a GPS to locate the places explored is a bomb... expensive but it have so many features out of diving
How big a problem did the buttons give you??
I think it was just where I was wearing it - I've been back to the gym with it a couple of times since and wore it a bit higher on my wrist and didn't have any issues that time 😁
Hi, thanks for the video. I was really surprised by the size, I was expecting something near the Fenix 6 but it is much bigger. I am getting used to it and today I am using it with a suit ;)
Thank you for a great review. The size is the only thing that is stopping me buying this... it's huge on the wrist!
I do have tiny wrists though 😂 it would probably look better on you!! Nic
Wow. And here i was hoping the mk2 would be around the 55mm mark...
I wear it every day and for me it just right, I dont have huge wrists
there are 2 sizes
You can now get the Mk2s which is smaller but it does not have AI, so same as the Mk2
Try using the 'lock keys' function to avoid pushing the buttons inadvertently ....
That's what happens when you don't read the manuals.
Thank you so much for your review. Could you tell me if you think that is an actually completely reliable gear i could use for diving? (I know of course that we are supposed to dive with a backup) It is quite expensive and i am not completely sure if it's worth it.
Yeah, I'd totally trust this dive com :D If you think you'll use all the other features to their fullest (like the sports side of the watch and the navigation stuff etc) it's well worth the money! If I was only doing recreational dives, I'd feel super comfortable diving this with no backup. If I was doing tec/CCR dives then I'd want a backup - but I guess that's pretty standard when it comes to more hardcore diving! Nic
Absolutely! I have been using the mk1 for well over a year with 0 issues (0 issues driving. The altimeter could still use some work) Mk2i coming home soon. Have a watch "collection" of about 10 different watches ( Tissot, Invicta, etc...) that haven't been out of the case since I got the mk1. It's a real go anywhere / do anything watch - and the mk2 is even better!
But I would also say always dive with a mechanical spg as well no matter what computer you are using. :)
@@TJordanWDE Thank you so much mate, appreciate your advice!!
