My Favorite Ways to Use Polychrome by Walrus Audio
Walrus Audio’s Polychrome is an analog flanger that perfectly straddles the line between feature-rich and accessible. With five knobs and two toggles, Polychrome creates a wide array of sounds including everything from jet-plane flanger tones, chorus-like modulation, and even vibrato when the D-F-V knob is dialed up. Polychrome is perfect for those who want to dip their toes into the world of flanger pedals and those who may think they don't like flanger pedals.

My Favorite Ways to Use Midnight by Native Audio
Просмотров 2027 месяцев назад
Midnight is a phaser pedal I’ve had my eye on for some time now. Phasers hold a really niche use in my playing. Midnight hits the sweet spot by providing enough control to get the sounds I want without being overly complicated. This video, specifically, features a few of my personal favorite settings, and dives into the features that set Midnight apart from other phaser pedals. Specifically, th...
My Favorite Ways to Use Sunflower Deluxe by Flower Pedals
Просмотров 47310 месяцев назад
Sunflower Deluxe is an evolution of Flower Pedal’s Dandelion Tremolo. Dandelion was sitting on my wishlist for some time, so naturally when Sunflower was released I jumped at the opportunity. Sunflower offers a myriad of updates, most notably among them is stereo-in and out, five presets, MIDI control, Drift, and Random modes. Sunflower Deluxe has a slight learning curve, but if you take time t...
My Favorite Ways to Use Starlight Echo Station by Universal Audio

This video has been sitting on the shelf for a while now because I haven't known the right time to post it. I've been slowly transitioning my channel to a new format and I think it's finally finding it's feet. I figured now is the right time to clear the shelf and move forward with the new. So here it is. The last of the table top format. Starlight is without a doubt one of the best sounding de...
My Favorite Ways to Use Generation Loss MKII by Chase Bliss Audio

Generation Loss is back with MKII, and this time Cooper FX and Chase Bliss Audio bring us something truly ambitious. MKII takes everything we love about the original Generation Loss pedal (including Classic Mode which functions just like the original) and adds new features. Notably, among these new features are the EQ profiles of tape machines, stereo in and out, and the addition of the Failure...
GFI System's Orca delay vs Walrus Audio's D1 V1
Просмотров 381Год назад
GFI’s Orca delay and Walrus Audio’s D1 have a lot in common. They’re both fantastic delays that are easy to use and cover a wide swath of sounds ranging from pristine digital delay to niche, experimental tones. The good news here is that they are both totally affordable. I managed to find both of these pedals for less than $200 on Reverb, which is amazing considering both of them are worthy of ...
Instant Shoegaze with Loomer by Keeley Electronics
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.Год назад
Loomer is a dual pedal featuring a muff-style fuzz and unique reverb algorithms aimed squarely at shoegaze players. These influences far exceed the pedal’s artwork and name (being a reference to a My Bloody Valentine track). Loomer recreates popular digital effects found in the Yamaha SPX90, Alesis Midiverb II, and Yamaha FX500, consolidating them into a much more manageable unit than their rac...

With this loop, I ran everything through the new Moo)))n Brt; an amp that’s based on the Sunn Model T. I wouldn’t say that the Sunn Model T is known for it’s clean tones, but I did manage to squeeze some cleans out of it. In fact, the preset I created (link provided below) has Snapshots that range from sparkling cleans to blown-out distortion thanks to some help from the new Pillars overdrive a...
Should You Upgrade Your El Capistan?

How do you make one of the best delay pedals of all time even better? Leave it to Strymon to find a way. El Capistan delay has re-emerged in a familiar form, but with added features that many of us have been hoping for. The question on everyone’s mind (including my own) is should I upgrade? Let’s discuss. El Capistan V2 has numerous new features. One of the most notable among these is the addit...
Exploring All 5 Modes - Ages by Walrus Audio
Просмотров 216Год назад
In a fashion typical of Walrus Audio, they have gone above and beyond, creating a pedal that could find a place on any artist’s board. Simply calling Ages an “overdrive pedal” understates it’s potential. Ages features five distinct modes with varying types of clipping, a Bass knob that cuts or boosts low frequencies before they hit the clipping stage, and a Dry knob for added clarity. It is a v...
My Favorite Sounds Featuring Collider by Source Audio

I’ll be up front, and say that Collider is the combination of two of my favorite time-based effects, so finding sounds that I love is not difficult at all. It’s definitely worth checking out to get a full picture of what this pedal is capable of. As with all Fiddling w...
Can Collider Replace Your Delay and Reverb Pedals?
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.2 года назад
True to it’s name, Collider is a collision of two of Source Audio’s time-based effects; Nemesis delay and Ventris reverb. Source Audio whittled the numerous options between the two pedals down to 12 engines (5 delays and 7 reverbs). These 12 engines include all of the classic delay and reverb sounds that would be considered essentials on any pedalboard. Delay sounds include Tape, Analog, Revers...

Should You Buy Starlight Echo Station by Universal Audio
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.2 года назад
Universal Audio is well known and respected in the world of music, but most don’t associate the company name with pedals. In my experience, UA’s logo provokes thoughts of high-end interfaces, plug-ins, and mics. That experience is about to change. UA has entered the pedal scene, and if Starlight Echo Station is any indication of what’s to come, we have a lot in store. The first thing you notice...

Thank you for this video!
I currently on a Blackhole reverb but definitely want to get a night sky in addition. I just love these types of ambient reverbs. The night sky just has a great layout and accessibility to all the parameters…although the Blackhole does a great job of that, too. I think these two are actually the very best of all the ambient reverbs out there… Personally. I know there are a lot of other great ones, too, but these are more in my personal wheelhouse.
This is just beautiful.. Best Loomer review I've seen so far. gotta buy one tomorrow thanks💎
Thank you!
Sounds great! 👍🏻
Thanks!
Price point plays a good factore in this
I bought the Flashback just so I good download the House Burning Down toneprint. Been trying for years to get that sound.
Good choice!
Man, this is awesome! My Unit will arrive the next days Already SO happy! Finally, a dense, high quality Reverb from small to Universal Size!
and how's it going?
@@theviolinoob Hi! The sound was dense as cotton-wool; ok, had expected that. First i was very impressed; after a while, turning the knobs, i thought there was something missing. In my ears, it lacks that "chaotic depth", as the name implies. There is too much "Studio" in it, too "HiFi" in a way; I don't visualize a Gargantua-Monster- Black Hole, blackest black you've ever seen, a MINUS in existence...; with an insane spinning accretion-disc... but i hear a blown-up , too clean, let's say Parking-House.... Didn't want to believe my own, critical impression. It's an EVENTIDE, COME ON!! Turning knobs...Q, depth, decay ...no, not quite...man, sound IS dense, but where is the living chaos...?! I compared it to my good ol' Hall of Fame 1, my All-Time- Budget-Hero. HOF 1 has an insane dynamic (w. buffered bypass on), yeah, and there it was: Living Chaos! Reverb swirling and dancin', you could even taste a little morning fog...Of course, HoF is limited with decay and size of reverb, but it was so much more satisfying, it had real life inside, a child jumping into the biggest mud, instead of a Professor sayin': "Look at my HUUUGE...library!" (unfortunately, i had to cut down the Tree of Life for all that books...😪). Absolute possible, that the best possible BLACKHOLE-Sound got just stuck in my amp/effects-loop, hiding the things i miss because of connection- impedances, or so. I know how important this sometimes is. But, yes, i was disappointed after checking 2 days. Also cut off a bit, about 1)4 - 1/3, dynamics... Cheers!
Nightsky or H90?
This is great, it's taken me so long to fall in love with this pedal but videos like this help me dial in new uses ✌
What a great and useful comparison video. Thank you so much.
Great demo with great counterparts
The subtle, chorus-like flange is why I want this for bass.
I’m not usually a shimmer guy but the source audio shimmer is beautiful, not too harsh and very musical. I also really like the halo mode on the Polara too😅
Black hole. Night sky. Cloudburst. I have all three sold the black hole It’s a great Reverb. I just needed the money and I had to choose one.
Hey! What’s that gray jazzmaster looking guitar with the P-90 is the neck!? Great too a btw!!
That’s a Fender Powercaster. Really great guitar.
Thanks for the video. I have both, I first bought the Blackhole as a reverb and the Nightsky to experiment. I think Eventide/Lexicon is the best you can ask for in reverb. On the other hand, Nightsky is very versatile, fun and sure that each musician takes advantage of it in their own way. I use it with a Fender Jazz Bass and a Gibson J 200, it is not "normal" use. I've taken the time to create presets for both and especially the bass. I always use them together. I've spent time looking for combinations and there are some that are great. If I had to choose a reverb it would be the Blackhole, which is not limited, it does its job like the originals and is sufficient.
Walrus d1!
The polychrome and the Lillian are are perfect match, you should try them together. You'll (probably) never seperate them again.
I’m gonna have to give it a try! Thanks!
Hi dude! I'm thinking sell my DigiTech Supernatural or my DigiTech RV-4, or maybe both of them to buy a Ventris. What do you think? It's worth it?
I'd say it absolutely is. I owned a RV-4 and quite a few other reverb pedals but I haven't found anything that measures up to the Ventris reverb yet.
@@BrettWondrak Thanks for your answer! You're very kind. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Had a Collider a few years back and was looking to get one again. Was looking in the presets in Neuro to see what I’d created when I had it and I noticed you did a further mod of my “Stop Haunting Me” preset (ticojpunk). Very cool. I dig what you’ve done here. I definitely gotta get another one!
That’s a great preset. It inspired me right away. Hope you pick another one up and release some more!
Inspirational. I think this will be my next pedal.
I don't hear the delay in this, there is not enough taps and sounds more like a reverb in this demo, what about making one with lots of delay sound to get that feel?
Thanks for the input👍🏻
🤘👍🏿
Great stuff!
Thanks!
Great demo! 5:09 What's that sound from? Sounds a bit like a Mellotron.
It’s actually a drone using my Ventris reverb. I send it through the Strymon Deco for some tape saturation.
Can you make any chorus sounds with this pedal? There are some Dimension presets on Neuro.
Great video showing the diversity of this. I just ordered one. I recently purchased the Microcosm and was so happy with it, I wanted more from them. Love the sounds you were getting to demo this.
Glad this was helpful! They make really cool stuff
Blackhole is way too limitted... Waste of money IMO...
It ultimately depends on the style of music you play and what you need from the reverb. Both are really cool options but neither is for everyone.
Then you’ve not even scratched the surface of the Blackhole. The options, choices, and variations of reverb are freaking endless. It’s an amazing pedal. If by “limited” you mean it doesn’t do standard reverbs, I get that to an extent. But it’s a very deep pedal in its own right & can do a lot more than is advertised.
One in a thousand. Thanks for making this video.
Thank you!
Awesome demo video. Very practical. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Sounds very nice and serene. What pedals and tones do you use for your bass?
My bass for this song is done with an Ampeg SVT amp on my helix.
@@BrettWondrak Holy crap those are expensive!
What an amazing video! I ususally don't comment - but I love your precision around the models - not talking but writing helps so much! Deserves so many more views... Keep it up! THANKS a lot!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for your feedback!
So do I really need to update it for a V2?
The biggest benefits of switching is midi control and a separate spring knob and engine. If those are important things to you, I’d switch. If you just want a great sounding delay pedal, El Cap v1 still holds up.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽… 👍🏽 Saludos de Ciudad de México!!
The intro music made my day.
Is that muff style a op amp or a triangle muff ?
I believe it's op amp but don't quote me on that. Keeley doesn't go into much detail outside of what the knobs and toggles do.
Yeah I thought so, it's definitely has that mid scoop range going on like the dark side, I'm so Glad That I owned both the Loomer and the recent Parallax pedal by Keeley
@@gazeunderthesunmusic I've been wanting to get my hands on a Parallax. It looks really awesome.
@@BrettWondrak it's definitely a brilliant pedal to use.
Great demo of main features, really well done. Merci!!
Thank you!
Cool demo! Gives a good sense of all the features and how it actually sounds on guitar. Would your pedal be a later version with the updated firmware and full-frequency mod?
Thank you so much! I left my pedal unmodified so viewers can hear what it sounds like out of the box.
I wasn’t gonna splurge more for v2 but after watching this video and seeing the spring reverb know I’m sold! Thanks for awesome demo!
I'm glad this was helpful! Thanks for watching
Thanks for this. I’m waiting for mine to be delivered and other than built-in-amp spring reverb, I only have the HoF1. I was wondering how well they’ll play together and your video just confirmed - very nicely. Thanks!
Thanks for watching. I’m glad the video was helpful:)
Whoa. Wow. Amazing comparison. Thank you, and followed. Your understanding of this technology is deep 👌🏼
Thank you!
I personally seem to be having alot of difficulty with my blackhole reverb, i think im going to try some of the software pc presets, because the sounds i get seem to just be very one toned? either nothin, or ALL CRAZY BLACK HOLE NESS, no inbetween
It is a little difficult to tame at first. If you check out my "8 Favorite Sounds with Blackhole" video, I share a dropbox link with a few presets that can get you started. Thanks for watching
Great video! Do either of them make the awesome spaceship sounds like a dl4 or analog delay when you twist the time knob?
If you're looking for warped sounds, Orca will be the delay for you. That pedal gets some crazy tones when you play with the time knob. Thanks for watching!
@@BrettWondrak awesome, thank you!
Awesome presets❤ I use the blackhole as well and didn't knew that it is so versatile, anyway. 5hanks for sharing
Por lejos gana el canyon
The eventide space would’ve been a fairer competition but it would win 😂
Agreed. That would be a really fun comparison.
Subbed!
Thank you!
Hey brother ;) …what pedal is that on the end? Is it a specific frequency shifter pedal. Thanks for your time!
Thanks for the sub! the pitch shift is actually inside SY-200. I'm engaging it using the CTL-1 footswitch. It's a really cool feature!
Great demo!
Thanks!
very nice! Sounds great.
Thanks!
