Thanks justcruisin, glad to help out. You can do it!
Thanks - very helpful in terms of knowing how to replace the graphite. I might even have a go. Cheers
beautiful work
Nice shop! Great video too!
Excellent video! The wide belt drum sanderr 😮🎉
Thanks jlc, glad you liked it! Yes, that wide-belt I have is an awesome machine and would recommend that brand to anyone interested in a sander.
Thanks for the great video. Tried following as much as I could but found making sleds on the table saw gave me what I needed for my particular project.
(And thanks to the wife too - videography also well done)
Must have been all that videography training she received from Spielburg! LOL She was happy to hear your positive comments! Thank you, Larry
Thanks for your CLEAR instruction - so often the step I need is missing Very helpful tutorial!
What are the dimesions of the template? Does the amount of overhang matter?
Thank you so much for posting this video. I found it while I was working on retrofit treads for my stairs. I used your method of making templates and it worked great. I had to do some things a bit differently since 6 of my treads are winders and the returns are not 90 degrees to the nose. Even though an amateur woodworker, my results were amazing.
Thanks so much for the comment Ken, I’m glad it worked out for you on your tread project! Larry @ Nova Woodworks 🇺🇸
Glad you like the videos Erik, thanks for the positive comment!😊
I love your videos, Larry. The stair tread one really save me some time.
Great video! Thank you for the tips and taking the time to walk through each step.
Very Informative, thank you!
Outstanding work. Thanks for sharing with us. I'm trying to decide if my time is worth it to buy the red oak myself and building my own prior to tackling this project for our house. I need to do 12 treads with left hand returns and 2 treads without returns.
great video and tip. I'm curious of whether the cleaner will clean off "gum" buildup or "burned" areas? I'll try it whatever.
Awesome video, you and your wife did a great job.
There’s a lot of questions in the comments, could you maybe answer some of them?
Hey there Larry! What an awesome video! Looking forward to more !
Wow!! Thank you for sharing this. You made it look very doable.
Beautiful country too bad it’s in the hands of a bunch of liberals Lol. Thanks for the info, belts are getting more expensive like everything else.
what was the swirling end , you have on your power washer? never seen one of them before... Nice job. I have a Laguna 37x60 wide belt sander for Metal.. Should work the same Im guessing. Thanks
Thank you so much for sharing your awesome skills and experience!
You should do more videos!
You should make and sell those jigs. I want to buy one!
My company uses the same process however after some weeks or months later our returns pop off not all but some the only difference I can think of is the type of glue your using. What brand of glue do you use?
Larry, top notch! Really loved learning from you. More content please! Question, would you ever consider biscuting the returns to the treads?
This is a fucking fantastic video.
Many thanks Larry, you certainly take your time and it shows in the finished work. Excellent craftsmanship. Extra thanks for taking the time to make the video and share your expertise with the world.
I use simple green but excellent to know the awesome orange works too ...I like the sprayer idea for applying the cleanser
Great tutorial but it would be much better if Larry you'd come over and do the job. Clearly you're a master at it, me, not so much.
Keep it up man, they will go viral! This is the best of what RUclips is, just regular folks helping others out by sharing their knowledge.
Nice work ! Nice Shop !
What a class act. Thank you, sir.
Really nice tutorial that you made. I've been looking for a way to do returns that fit well. Your templates must have a bit of a radius for the bearing on the router bit. Is that correct? Thanks in advance for your reply.
If you make the first template without a radius, just make a flush cut copy and it will include the radius
Thank you for the tutorial! Great info.
Watching this again. Really appreciate all the work and thought you put into this. I will be making new treads for my spiral stairway that also has balusters on the right hand side.
Thank you for making this video, helped me bypass a lot of the trial and error to get a clean tread.
Looks great!!
Thanks for the video! I have an old house with 9' ceilings, and I have been putting off finishing the steps for 5 years. I think I'll take a crack at it this winter. Thanks again.
Thanks for the tip, it was very helpful. By the way, I like your workshop, clean and well organized.
Hi there , when I used to make stairs same as yours I would biscuit joint that return on and I would cut 2 mortices for the balustrades to sit in and these also were used to screw down to my stringer or carridge as we call it here in England . Your a brilliant craftsman sir . Many years ago I figured out how to set stairs out without using a framing square and pins or even using a margin board .
Ever have any returns pop off after the wood sets? Having trouble getting my returns to stay on but all I use is a 15 gauge brad nail and glue
Followed your review from Infinity to this video. Impressive bit, but I love the reversible indexed jig with filler-piece for the router to ride on. Thanks for posting!
great video man. thanks so much for making it!
Wow, impressive video dude! Thanks for the info. And the best tip is.......1/16th is the key
