Hello there. I'm very fascinated by all things WebAssembly and currently trying to get a deep understanding and insight into the whole world around it. Thanks for this update. I will try to follow the community meetings as good as I can. I really loved Liam's mention of the WASman. ☺Can't wait to have WASM let us run models on our edge devices and phones. I'm one of the folks, that doesn't have access to fancy GPU's, so this tech is my hope. Good luck for your projects and for whatever you are working on. Greetings from Switzerland. The wash capture demo was great! Would love to see a configuration option (env var maybe?) to automatically export these traces to an OTLP host like Grafana Tempo!
Great suggestion! We have native OTLP support currently in wasmCloud, and if we could combine those with the capture it would give an interesting view into the captured messages

Makefiles was something I worried about when showing washCloud to other developers. Most of my teams have never touched go or rust, let alone make so wash build makes things a lot easier to adopt (and evangelise :D). Thanks for doing this Matt. Excellent effort.
If you'd like to give this a try, wash version 0.13.0-alpha.1 is released now including the "wash build" feature for actors 🎉

Can someone explain to me what is happening at the data persistence layer when he nukes the actors on the macOS host machine? A little lost on what the providers and links represent and how they can be configured
Hey Adam, there are few parts of the stack here in play: 1. Actors - stateless and reactive this is your business logic. This means they can be scaled independently of the non functional components of the application as needed. Topologically, you can run them where you want because all communication to another actor or specific capability happens via the Lattice Mesh (NATS). 2. The Lattice is the self forming, self healing communication network that can transcend physical infrastructure; Lattice is built on NATS and can be configured to satisfy requests local to a wasmCloud process and can automatically discover and use remote capabilities. 3. The remote capabilities are things like attachments to a specific database, message queue, or blobstore. Actors that consume a capability are signed with a permission slip then attached to a specific capability with a link definition. So what happens is that the actors are seamlessly moved across clouds, edges or devices with out any changes or recompilation to the application. They can be moved across clouds and even be reconfigured to use different capabilities at runtime if you like. Feel free to join us on slack at slack.wasmCloud.com if you have any questions.
